Zelda in BOTW takes the cake for sure and rightfully so. I mean she loses everything! She loses her sworn protector for fucks sake, who is put in a 100 year coma in order to come back to finally put a stop to it.
And I say TOTK is also really sad because she loses herself entirely!
But her actions also dishonest the memories of her champions and forced Link to betray his promise to Urbosa.
Let alone break his heart knowing how her love for her knight has awakened her powers.

Botw Zelda lost literally everything, her family, her friends, and Link, all on her birthday? That’s tragic.
And then was turned into a dragon, and had to wander the skies for who knows how ludicrously long… and if the rumors are true, probably never did turn turn back, depending on the timeline!
Yeah, that version of Princess Zelda deserves way better.
Glad King Rauru in TOTK act a better parental role to Zelda that King Rhoam could not. I wish he and Queen Sonia have more screentime.
King was acting as a father then a friend as the prophecy goes she needed to find her sealing power before the calamity comes she failed too do and almost had link killed.
Yes, especially Queen Sonia since she never got to meet Link.
Unfortunately, Rauru could have the liberty to be a good friend because he truly didn't fear the ramifications of Ganondorf. Even in death, he just casually delegated his job to his sister, Zelda, and a distant successor through Link.
Rhoam, on the other hand, didn't have the luxury to be her friend. Honestly, he probably had a hard time being a dad. Zelda's power isn't just some cool thing to flex around Hyrule, he is in genuine fear that if his daughter's powers don't open, that him, his family, and the entire kingdom will be wiped out.
Peach: I get kidnapped biweekly by a draconian turtle.
Botw Zelda: due to my inadequacy, all my friends were murdered
Peach: I got possessed by an ancient evil demon from hell and almost destroyed the whole world

Having no companion story where players can play as her IN BOTH Skyward Sword and Tears of the Kingdom is also the WROST thing that has happened to Princess Zelda.
I remember in the Minish Cap that I failed to reach Vaati before the third bell chime, which meant all the Light Force from Zelda was drained which basically killed her. That's got to be the worst thing to happen to Zelda and definitely the number one moment in the Zelda series that scarred me for life!
I did that too and I was so pissed because I hadn't gotten a game over in this game previously so of course I lose my living streak by running out of time 😭
The Zelda of Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom had some really rough things happen to her T_T
What about age of Calamity?
As stated by one Joshua Burner, Zelda being stuck as a Light Dragon is way worse than death when you factor in the various branching timelines of The Legend of Zelda franchise. In some timelines, it's possible that Zelda remained stuck as a Light Dragon for an ungodly amount of time.
I raise you in some timelines Zelda Never turns back.
More than 10,000 years at least.
I feel so sorry for what Zelda's been going through in the *Legend of Zelda* franchise. She definitely deserves better than eternal pain and suffering.
Both link and Zelda deserve better. Neither of them deserve to suffer this much.

@@a.jthomas6132except that the player is link and therefore link gets to have moments of levity and so much choice in his actions. Link gets to at least live a little. He gets hoards of power and upgrades and be told by everyone he meets how great he is for the most part. Almost all his efforts are recognized and acknowledged in the moment to give the player validation. Zelda has to always be the pawn, soaked in suffering for ages.. so the player can feel motivated to beat the bad guy.
Why does Nintendo make their best girl suffer so much?
its to give an urgent life and death reason for the hero to risk life on a great adventure to rescue her otherwise he would just be faffing about all day collecting cuccos, goats or other livestock for random villagers, or trying to get a new high score at snowball bowling. i mean link surely would not waste his time with such mediocre things while the princess whom he is sworn to protect is in such terrible danger right? RIGHT??? oh...
Maybe Zelda does deserve the house that Link bought in breath of the wild.
Considered they are living together, I am sure they have each other’s company to feel safe.

Totk/Botw Zelda I think has had the roughest time. She lost everything, got sent through timr just to lose everything again, and turned into a dragon as a last resort.
* In Breath of The Wild, not only that Zelda has lost everything, but she has to face Calamity Ganon in a perpetual battle for a hundred years
*In Tears of The Kingdom, Zelda turned into the Light Dragon and roams around Hyrule for at least Ten thousand years, cause it was from the founding time of the kingdom up to the present days
Zelda after Ganondorf is defeated: AHHH... after ten thousand years I'm free!
Poor BOTW/TOTK Zelda went through SO MUCH. My girl makes the “worst things” list not once, but twice.
BOTW’s event is exceptionally tragic (especially because she blames herself for everything), but the draconification in TOTK breaks me. Not only is the scene absolutely gut wrenching, but this all happens on top of her experience in BOTW.
In BOTW, she loses everyone she loves. Then, in TOTK, she loses herself. She really does lose everything there is to lose, with no hope of getting it back. 😭

Something I would add is Four Sword Adventures. In this instance, Vaati didn't kidnap her because she was the princess of Hyrule. He didn't really seem to care about Hyrule at all. He only took her because she was pretty and he wanted to make her his "bride." That is messed up.

For those who do not know, Zelda’s love for Link unlocks her sealing powers in both Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity timelines.
As actor like Zelda can truly unlock her powers by requiring a strong motivation.
Not to mention in breath of the wild
How she's been fighting Ganon for 100 years.
Almost all of these Zeldas are all different people who share the same name. Also, for #1, you left out how she had to fight Calamity Ganon alone for 100 years before Link awoke.
Link be thinking: What the heck I got stuck being a wolf while Zelda gets to be a freaking dragon.
What about at the end of OFT?

I'd say becoming the Light Dragon was just slightly worse than losing everything. What's worse than grieving everyone you ever cared for for over 100 years? Doing smth that you know will make you lose all your memories of them and accepting that you'll never ever remember them again.
Worst thing ever happened to Zelda is that there has been no new Zelda game since forever.
It is a shame that they completely abandoned the franchise for some half-baked open-world bullshit that is just a boring time killer.
The worst thing happened to Zelda is when she fell from her bird's ride in the Sky in The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and when she turned into a whole diffrent person in Twilight Princess. Am I a diffrent Zelda fan if Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess defienitily Twilight Princess are my favourite Zelda games? Those are my 2 first-ever-played Zelda games on the Nintendo Wii Era in my childhood. Wolf is my favourite animal and I love Midna who's more beautier than Zelda herself just in my opinion. Love Twilight Princess and hope it's coming finally to Nintendo Switch in someday! 😊❤

if I'm being honest, while I was playing Tears of the Kingdom, I was shocked to find out that the Light Dragon IS Zelda, I know Minaru warned his that swallowing a sacred stone would mean losing your humanity, and sense of self, but this was her choice, if there was any way to restore the Master Sword, she had to make that decision if Link has any chance in destroying the Demon King Ganondorf once and for all.
“Captured in several entries”? She’s been captured in ALL a of them.

Definitely draconification was the most tragic. She does everything for her people and her kingdom. She's the BEST Zelda in my opinion (botw/TOTK Zelda)

The botw Zelda is the closest character to being like me. She literally also wears white and blue as well as also having blond hair and green eyes. Also, I was born into a religious family with religious experiences who have no trouble connecting to god and having their prayers answered. And then there’s me. When I pray for something, the complete opposite happens. My family talks about their religious experiences while I sit there having nothing to share. My dad is hard on me for being different and because my mental issues keep my mom down. The only difference I have with botw Zelda is the fact I have no friends to help me carry the burden of not knowing my purpose or what makes me special.
