HI Jim you were great on explaining how to check for a burnt out motor when the blower or heat doesnt work I will check to see if the motor in my car is not working because the heating system doesn't do anything. I was told it might be thermostatic or resister. You are so patience when showing the problem. Thanks very much

The ac/heater went out on my 2004 CV. Tested the blower motor by connecting it directly to the battery and it worked fine. Did the Blower Motor wiring test with the control module on, and it didnt show a - but did show a + . Before messing with the wiring I replaced the Resistor and that solved my issue. Resistor didnt smell burnt, damaged or anything but took a chance and replaced it anyways. Issue solved. Good luck guys!

Nice! Got a burning electronics smell from the vents and the fan motor quit today.. so, looks like another motor on the garbage heap! Also, have been through the blend actuator motor FOUR TIMES on 3 of these Mercs! Now I just use a 9v battery and connect to the purple wire from the controller and run the blend motor to hot for winter and to cold for summer and leave it at that, works beautifully and takes no more than 5 minutes to do after the first time. Clip the purple wire and connect + 9v battery to it and - to ground for cold. Reverse - of 9v battery to purple and + to ground for heat.. run either way until you get the telltale clack clack clack of the motor hitting its' end stops.. DONE!

I was told that there is a switch in the middle(under dash) called speed controller - that controls the blower motor. anybody have any Idea if - I can run direct power to blower motor from the E.A.T.C. like by pass the controller? and I can get heat? did research from ford and controller is over three hundred.

I tested the blower motor with test leads to my battery and it turned on really strong, compressor engages how it should, I can also hear the blower motor and vents engaging inside the cabin, and it's full of freon. The last thing that I have is the resistor that could be bad and that's all that I have left to check other than a possible relay. Good luck hope you found your solution and maybe this helps.

@@jimthecarguy Hello there, thanks for the reply. No, the fan does not turn at all. However, I did the following tests. Checked the relays and fuses, and they work. Checked the resistance in the Blower Motor Resistor and it checks out to specs. I provided power directly to the blower motor fan and it turned right up. And one last thing, I checked the blower motor resistor input wires by probing the hot wire in the connector with a test light to see if they were getting any ground when the HVAC switch turned on. Here's what I found. When I set the switch to speed 1, the wire corresponding to that setting gets grounded. When I set the speed to 2, the wires for 1 and 2 get grounded, when I set the speed to 3, the wires corresponding to 1, 2, & 3 get grounded. And finally when I set the speed to 4 (Max), all the wires in the blower motor resistor connector get grounded. I saw in another video a gentleman saying only the wire corresponding to the set speed should get grounded. Is that correct? What could be the culprit? The HVAC Switch? Thanks a bunch for your help, in advance.

@@jimthecarguy I checked for voltage at the connect on the blower. I had battery voltage, I installed the new one. Works great, I checked the old one with a battery from my 18v drill. It spun like no problem, to bad you couldnt add a booster like you can on condenser on house central air.

If there is power on both wires you will need to check the ground wire to make sure there is a good connection. Keep me posted.

would the procedure be the same for a 2003 Grand Marquis? Mine quit. I can measure 13v at the connector. If I change the fan speed from the inside it changes the voltage at the connector
which I assume is how it changes the fan speed. I also applied 12v from the battery directly to the fan and no go.

Sir Sweetness basically he did check the fuse cause the motor had power and ground if he had no power he would have went to fuse box for the blower motor fuse if it only blew on high he would have probably replaced the resistor block that controls the other speeds
