    Good that you mentioned about sidetone. This is missed by a large no of reviewers. Whether you can hear yourself when speaking is important for comfort too.

      @HeadsetAdvisor  Před rokem +4

      Thanks for watching! Yes, sidetone is very important when you wear headphones because with no sidetone and on a call, you won't realize how loud you're actually talking.
      We're also told it's very frustrating when wearing headphones without sidetone because you lose your train of thought when you can't hear yourself talking.
      If you have any other feedback on anyway we can improve in our future videos, we'd love to hear your thoughts.

      Totally agree on this point and it is often overlooked on other reviews. It is as important as noise cancellation. Teams meetings are so important in today's working life that having this ability to hear yourself speak naturally in meetings is a huge advantage. Tilde Pro, have not let me down yet.

      One thing to note is that while the XM5 doesn't have specifically a sidetone feature, it does have an outside sound mode, where it pipes the outside (including your own voice) back in, and the amount is configurable via the sony headphone app. That'd be counter-productive with a blender, but with normal office sounds, you can let in just a bit of the outside to hear yourself better (and I'm assuming it still sends a cancelled version of the mic to the computer). And even if you have the button set to let in only 10% of the outside in, you can still put your hand over the right cup to temp override that and let all outside sound in.
      As an aside, that is one aspect where I've found it shines for a work environment, even if it is a bit weaker on calls. It's nice to be able to switch between full noise cancelling and outside sounds with a simple toggle, without having to constantly take them on or off. Can even set it so it auto-switches to outside sounds when you start talking. Though I'm assuming the Orosound has ways of toggling that as well, so maybe that wouldn't be a factor in someone's decision.

    Such a brilliant comparison of what I think are "two titans" of ANC headphones/headsets in 2023. I felt like they were both comparable in most areas. One can't go wrong with either of these! It seemed as if the voice of the speaker was a 'little' bit more amplified on the XM5s. And the ANC on the Orosound was a 'little' bit better(especially during the baby crying test). Again, so comparable to one another! Thanks so much Headset Advisor.

    Thank you for this review. Can I ask if anyone knows if it's possible to use a noise cancelling pair of headphones with an external mic to get audio quality similar to the camera mic in the video? Noise cancelling mics muffle the voice audio, so was wondering if it's advisable to get a boom mic or something similar and then connect it with your noise cancelling headphones

    • @HeadsetAdvisor
      @HeadsetAdvisor  Před rokem

      You're welcome! Is your main use for calls and meetings? If so, the microphones on many work headsets like the Tilde Pro or others will be plenty fine. It would be a surprise if anyone commented saying your voice wasn't coming across clearly. Plus, if you ever do happen to be around noise, you'll be thankful to have a microphone with noise cancellation.
      That being said, if you're looking for the very best microphone quality, you could consider adding the ModMic to any pair of headphones of your choice, or you'd want to get some sort of Condenser microphone.
