    Excelentes consejos, he visto varios videos para ajustar la altura de mi asiento pero este es el que suena mas lógico y sencillo, ademas todos los demás consejos son bastante útiles. Aun me falta mas practica con el desmonte pues yo bajo primero el pie que llevo hacia adelante y eso ya me ocasiono una caída (leve) este fin de semana al pasar sobre una roca intente desmontar estirando los pies para tocar el piso, jeje gran error de principiante. Aun no me sale el desmonte hacia atrás, no se si es mi asiento (lo cambie por uno mas cómodo pero mas ancho) o si es que nunca antes había intentado desmontar hacia atrás, pero aun no logro ponerme atrás del asiento, tal vez no flexiono las piernas lo suficiente para ir detrás del asiento, sin duda necesito practicar mas los tips que das en este video, muchas gracias por enfocarte en los principiantes.
    Por cierto, estaría interesante tu opinión en un video acerca del dolor de muñecas, es mala posición de espalda y brazos? o si es recomendable utilizar manubrios ergonómicos para no flexionar tanto las muñecas?

    Re flat pedals. I currently have convertible pedals. Can I stick with them? Also shoes. Can I use these barefoot Merrells, or is something else more effective? Trying to add a couple of photos. Lastly, in your opinion or experience, does the flat pedals preference hold for gravel and road biking also?

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  Před rokem

      Hey Cindy, I recommend a good pair of flat pedal shoes like the ENDURA Hummvee shoes. Also, I recommend going full on flat on a mountain bike - because otherwise you may be looking down to see on which side you are on - which can be dangerous out on techy trails. Also, the base of support on “real” flat pedals is usually larger. And another point is: clipless shoes are too hard, so they won’t allow you develop the neuromuscular coordination in the soles of your feet, which is, however, essential.
      For gravel and road clipless will probably work better, as you don’t need as much freedom for your feet and the mindful connection to your bike is not as essential.

    Great advice. I particularly love your tips/comments on both droppers (I don't have one yet but I can see the advantages) and flats (pedals). I ride clipless because I came from road cycling. I can get out and off the bike (dismount) very quickly and so far so good on a few emergency bails. But getting into and on my "clipless" pedals is a definite disadvantage. I _love_ the solid placement feel of clipless once in. But there are many times on a MTB where you cannot waste the time (1-2 seconds?) trying to get that other foot clipped in. So flats on my MTB are almost certainly in my future sooner rather than later.

    Another great video with awesome tips. I think I have my seat a little too low, so I'll be fixing that next time I ride. Speaking of fear, and I am riddled with it which keeps me from trying things I'd like to try. What do you do if you fall off a high skinny? I'm petrified of them even when they're low!

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  Před 4 lety +2

      Have you watched my videos about how to handle fear? Generally, I don’t try to fall off high skinnies :-) so I progress SLOWLY - starting with skinnies ON THE GROUND and then working my way up. You can practice how to ride skinnies on lines on the ground. Then on a curb. And so on. And always practice the dismount :-)

    • @alexfoxx3376
      @alexfoxx3376 Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Roxy! I had watched your videos on fear and just went back and re-watched. Very good advice I need to follow. I have casually attempted to follow lines on the ground...curbs are next. Thanks again!

      Than i tried to find an explanation for this and i think the reason for this is the type of bike i had when i started to ride. 40 years ago when i was 5 till 16 when i got a "proper" bike the only bicycles we had were some russian inspired steel monsters with no "hand brakes". In order to stop we had to "backpedal". • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Naveen. There is no generic answer to that, as it depends on your leg length, skills and riding style, for example. I personally prefer 27,5” because I’m short at 158, love technical trails and want my bike to be playful.
      However, if you for example prefer riding longer rides, have longer legs and are not much of a playful, technical rider, you will probably enjoy 29”.
      My suggestion is always to try out different types of bikes and then decide for yourself.
      The main element for success on the bike is the rider and his skills, anyway 😊 not the bike or it’s tyre size 😌

      @@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire Topics, hmmm. This fall/winter I want to add to the skills I use to 'play' on natural trail features, like bunny hopping and bump jumping. I want to rear wheel flick leaves, acorns etc along the side of hard packed trails :) In thinking how to do this, I have to admit that I'm comfortable moving the rear wheel around well off the ground, but not comfortable at ground level losing traction. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on how to practice (somewhere that won't erode a trail or destroy a lawn, if I even have the brute force to do that haha) before moving to the trail and actually hoping to scatter some leaves :D

      I use 26“ and 27,5 :-) I LOVE my 26“ - it’s so playful and feels safe for me in steep and technical terrain. But the 27,5 is more stable.
      I don’t use 29“ because it is dangerous to dismount for me.

    Do yourself a favor with flat pedals and wear some kind of shin guards. Having the pedal smash your shin is not so bad but the spikes ripping and tearing your flesh is. With shin guards, it protects you from that. You will feel the pedal strike but without the blood and mayhem.

      Ha ha ….cost is one cuz I just bought the mtn bike/hardtail/xc and now dropper ($$$) but mostly it’s mental. I’m used to being clipped in, 30 yr roadie here and love being connected to my bike esp on trails and esp when climbing. I feel I climb better in clips and feel more stable. I tried the flats the bike came with and my feet kept slipping off. Those flats were junk tho because they didn’t have tall “prongs” and I didn’t use trail shoes either.. But even with better pedals I feel like I won’t feel the “power” in pedaling..that’s the story. I really think I’m just super hard headed and actually back in the day flats were “uncool” and you weren’t an expert rider unless you used clipless! LOL!
      Ps. I did do some mtn bike racing long ago in clipless pedals and crashed a lot! That was was kinda why I quit mtn biking long ago.

      @@ylana4444well, if you keep doing, what you do, you’ll always stay, what you are 😄
      And what you need to ask yourself: do you want your ego to keep you from learning? Because „the cool kids ride clipped in“ thing is ego talk 😈
      Also: If you’re loosing the pedals on flats this is a CLEAR indication that you need to practice exactly that. Not riding flats because you’re loosing the pedals is just like not showering because you’re dirty 😎

    That particular bike is actually too big for you, you can't even tippy toe touch the ground when your saddle is up the whole way.
    When sitting on your seat the tips of your toes should touch the ground

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  Před 2 lety +2

      Nope - that's a very common misconception. Watch tip 2 in the video :-)
      When sitting on the seat and the pedal is ALL the way down, and the heel of your foot is on the pedal, then the leg should be extended. Because then, when you place your foot on the pedal like you do to pedal, then you still have only a SLIGHT bend in the leg.
      If you set it up like you say, then your pedaling is VERY innefficient.
      But: That's another advantage of dropper posts, BTW - you can drop them shortly before dismounting.
