@@p0rn0saur there were some great and some not so great aspects of S2. Season 1 was really quiet and we had an update maybe once every 2 months. This is night and day in terms of the response.

Do think they just need to hire more employees though, know that they acquired Certain Affinity, possibly for a BR mode, but I think with microsoft acquiring Activision it might be helpful to try to recruit some members of their team to work on Halo. Also if any of you watched the Halo KC tournament it was fucking amazing and shows how good this game can be, I really think Halo can get to a good spot it just needs a bit more work, which obviously it would have been ideal for it to be great at launch, and hopefully by the launch of season 2 the issues would have been ironed out, but I do think this game can be truly great. They have a really good gameplay base, just need to fix some netcode issues, fix how challenges and mode selection works, and add more content(gamemodes, and maps) and this ame can be in a great state. I feel adding more content can be easily solved simply by just introducing old maps from past Halos, I know they said they don't want to do that, but we are starving for it and it can be done in a much faster time than creating new maps.
Staten is great. It's definitely a slower point for Halo, but I'm confident that the next 12 months are gonna be awesome. Can't wait for the game to really hit its stride. Looking forward to forge and a solid BR (hopefully!!!)

I love Joe Staten. As much as I enjoy Infinite even through the bumps and rough edges, it has so much room to be great. As Parris said, it needs to be great. I do wish it got delayed another year and launched with everything it should have, but you can’t change the past. I believe once they get everything polished and in that should be, Infinite with seasons and being live service can present so much cool and fun events within the game

Great interview Xcast! Joe. I really do appreciate his candor and genuine nature X but I’m kind of over being strung along. At this rate it will have been nearly a year since the game is out and we still have still yet to receive an appropriate amount of content to this game. All of my friends have moved on from this game and whenever I play, I’m always alone. That’s not what I associate Halo with. No lobbies to find new people to play with. Removal of jumps and campaign speed running functions. I just think there’s a massive disconnect between 343 and the community still: that needs to be mended before the game can be realized in its full potential.

The problem with the franchsie isn't the devs ofc they love making Halo games the problem is management at 343i specifically Bonnie Ross and Frank O'Connor whose corporate mindset has continued to drive the franchise downward over the past 10 years since the acquisition.

I have nothing but respect for Staten, but Infinite isn't Halo 2, he didn't direct it until years after its announcement, and he's not responsible for the multiplayer either. No matter your take, it's universally true that two maps and a handful of modes is the absolute least 343 could have done for season 2.
I dont get why more multi shooter games don't use older maps from their previous games especially if those maps are super popular among the player base..there's so many maps from the older halos that were so much fun
I think 343s biggest problem is they just choose all the wrong things to work on. Instead of spending time patching things out that bothers zero people, they could be working on on features everybody already wants. Just bad priorities on their part.
There is no franchise I've played more than Halo. It's a bit sad to see how quickly the shine and fun for everyone went from Halo Infinites launch but I do believe in the team there to get on that steady live service pace and have some gamers happily return to Halo.
Is there any shooter game that delivers the wide range of experiences as Halo? Looking at how they aim to provide forge, campaign co-op, prepping ongoing main campaign content, seasonal events, full MP suite of modes and maps, etc. Their ambitions are inspiring and why I am nowhere near writing 343i and Halo off. Yes, it can be frustrating not having the amount of maps available but broadly speaking, there are so many more games to occupy our time while everything comes together.
I trust Joseph Staten. It's because of that and how MCC became what it is today that makes me so sure that Infinite will absolutely recover and grow to be the best Halo to date. It already has the seed and seedling of that "best Halo" growing today, and one day I look forward to saying it finally beat out ODST and Reach for me (my 2 favorites).

Halo doesn't just have a content problem. There's still no progression, pay walls, FOMO, awful xp system, armor core system, etc. How long until those things are fixed? How many years?
Spartan rank progression is already being worked on, I believe. Though there is still battlepass and ranked progression in the game. Which pay walls do you mean? Do you mean not having the fourth challenge unlocked even if you bought the first battlepass? If so, I believe they're addressing that soon. I feel like every live service game will have a certain amount of FOMO. After all, each one has various holiday events, etc. But at least with Infinite, someone joining in now hasn't missed out on Season 1's battlepass. The Challenge system is bad, I agree. Hopefully they revamp that. Armour core system is already being moved away from, but at least personally, I'm a fan of the coatings. I've found myself switching around between cosmetics significantly more in this game than any previous Halo.
You apparently didn’t catch what Joe was saying between the lines. He himself isn’t happy about seasons being 6 months. The only reason they’d do that is to prepare everything. They clearly sacrificed season 2 to launch season 3 with everything they’ve been working on so it’s all together. They know people aren’t playing the game and they know bringing back some things but not others isn’t going to stop the bleeding. Bet money there’s a big announcement either at Microsoft’s Summer press or at the Lan in Orlando because that would be in September. Just be patient.
Change the management of the studio. Kick out all those who gave a green signal to all the anti-consumer decisions made by 343. They have shown incompetence for far too long.

I recently bought a model 3 and enjoy it. I don't think you'll be disappointed, Paris. If I started to have glitches like Gary I would be furious though.

I mean I think Halo 5 was actually a really solid game. It took awhile to get it there and it also took forever to get MCC where it is now. I’d say 343 still have excellent Devs but they don’t work fast by any means.
I miss the "Community" tab that the Xbox dashboard used to have. It would show recent unlocked achievements for friends and recent screenshots/clips. SnowBikeMike, I have had my elite series 2 controller since November 2020 and now I am experiencing my first problem with the LB. Sending it in to XBOX for repair!

Seems like they had a complete trash fire development with no content figured out before he got there. There’s very few people who eat, sleep and breathe halo, and one of those people is Joe Staten. Glad he’s at the helm now. Infinite has lots of potential but not sure if a 10 year plan is a good idea. 7 years could work, but we learned with gta5 that people will keep asking for the next biggest thing. We’ll see how they work this out.

Also I've been getting full health one hit meleed lately. At first I thought it was PC cheaters but then it also happened vs fellow console players so it must be lag based and yes it from the front as I stepped in front of an ally and enemy shooting each other to smack kill the guy.
Any gun with a bayonnet on it can do this though ( the brute weapons) mostly that brute pistol can't remember the name but it's got the revolver barrel and the shots are projectiles that has drop.

I feel I should preface this by admitting my bias. I ADORE Halo and am mainly a single player campaign gamer, so for ME, Halo Infinite is an absolute masterpiece of open world story telling. Also I have to say I'm a huge fan of Joe Staten. He has for a long time being the God Father of the Halo franchise and anything in his hands turn to gold imo. That being said, the way 343 as a team have handled Multiplayer has felt positively amateur. I know by season 4 or maybe 5 Halo Infinite will be in a place it should have been in from the start. But will that be too little too late? We'll see. Regardless, I'm glad Joe and team appreciate the criticism because some people are LOVING the attention they are getting by posting hate filled tweets or youtube videos. I don't agree with such vitriol personally and feel there should be a modicum of respect when talkimg about what can be improved but this isn't going to change so whatever.
You really feel it’s a masterpiece open world game?? I felt it is lacking so much in comparison to other open worlds. It’s bare bones and lacking variety. I liked the story tho, but I am a die hard halo fan. Once I saw how much content was cut from campaign, I understand why it felt like it came up short. I hope they can add most of the cut content in as time goes on
Joe contradicts himself every time he talks about "employee health" like COVID is over, most mandates are over, he says they're working hard and non stop but then says theyre focusing on their health and basically making an excuse for them not knowing how to make a game, Joe is there for PR so 343 can escape some of the backlash, when he says "most of the team is still in apartments" and what not he's talking about all the contractors they hired.
On the Elite 2 controller, was playing with a friend last night who just received their 3rd lemon replacement. Says if the next one is bad Xbox promised a refund. So probably ok if your original unit is fine but clearly something going on there. No issues yet with my Halo Infinite Elite 2. I intentionally don't play all games with it though. I know I'm busting that X and A button playing MLB the Show, so I use a normal controller.
Infinite has had 6 years of development time. Even after that terrible showing and a huge delay, it came out with a mediocre and barebones campaign, and a multiplayer without any roadmap while being a live service. This is business, and heads need to roll for this. The fact Staten was called in at all is a sign to me that the people at ms are taking infinite seriously, and attacking or blaming the devs that are working hard to right the wrongs right now might no be all that constructive imo. Im waiting for another month or so to jump in season 2 though, especially if it will last another 6 months.
And Cyberpunk had 9 years. You never know what dev problems were going on. With Cyberpunk the engine was being build while the game was being made. Some games are scrapped or changed half way through. Or leadership changes.
The game actually hasn’t been in development for 6 years. There was a leak of what the game looked like In late 2019 and I can tell that at that point, the game had only been in development for 6-8months maybe 1 year MAX. The game should have launched December 2022 or mid 2023 since they started in 2019.
It's ironic that the man that bashes the DualSense so much is the same man who is willing to praise the Elite 2 even though he has been through 4 in under 3 years.
I mean he could say the Elite 2 is a better controller it just has bad quality control and poor build quality. Technically still wouldn’t invalidate his point. That would mean the components are poorly made but the controller itself kicks ass.

I think employment needs to be addressed. They say the team is number 1 priority but they havent been honest about their 18month contracts and losing half yhe team when the game launched so hiring and continuing updates has delayed everything.
Im positive on the future of Halo because there has NEVER been a Halo game I didnt enjoy playing regardless of state, and Im positive in the future for both Halo and 343.
The Elite controller is poorly designed, no other way around it lol. A friend bought, fresh out of the box the left joystick got stuck to the right, returned it and never got another. So many people have issues with those controllers, so it's not anything you're doing wrong, Mike!

There is a lot of critical conversation around 343 and their handling of Halo, but I still think that they’re the right team for the job. Those are some talented developers and Halo is certainly in the right hands, even if the rollout hasn’t been ideal.

I miss the "Community" tab that the Xbox dashboard used to have. It would show recent unlocked achievements for friends and recent screenshots/clips. SnowBikeMike, I have had my elite series 2 controller since November 2020 and now I am experiencing my first problem with the LB. Sending it in to XBOX for repair!

There’s very few people who eat, sleep and breathe halo, and one of those people is Joe Staten. Glad he’s at the helm now. Infinite has lots of potential but not sure if a 10 year plan is a good idea. 7 years could work, but we learned with gta5 that people will keep asking for the next biggest thing. Any gun with a bayonnet on it can do this though ( the brute weapons) mostly that brute pistol can't remember the name but it's got the revolver barrel and the shots are projectiles that has drop.

I feel I should preface this by admitting my bias. I ADORE Halo and am mainly a single player campaign gamer, so for ME, Halo Infinite is an absolute masterpiece of open world story telling.
Also I have to say I'm a huge fan of Joe Staten. He has for a long time being the God Father of the Halo franchise and anything in his hands turn to gold imo.
That being said, the way 343 as a team have handled Multiplayer has felt positively amateur. I know by season 4 or maybe 5 Halo Infinite will be in a place it should have been in from the start. But will that be too little too late? We'll see. Regardless, I'm glad Joe and team appreciate the criticism because some people are LOVING the attention they are getting by posting hate filled tweets or youtube videos. I don't agree with such vitriol personally and feel there should be a modicum of respect when talkimg about what can be improved but this isn't going to change so whatever.
You really feel it’s a masterpiece open world game?? I felt it is lacking so much in comparison to other open worlds. It’s bare bones and lacking variety. I liked the story tho, but I am a die hard halo fan. Once I saw how much content was cut from campaign, I understand why it felt like it came up short. I hope they can add most of the cut content in as time goes on
Joe contradicts himself every time he talks about "employee health" like COVID is over, most mandates are over, he says they're working hard and non stop but then says theyre focusing on their health and basically making an excuse for them not knowing how to make a game, Joe is there for PR so 343 can escape some of the backlash, when he says "most of the team is still in apartments" and what not he's talking about all the contractors they hired.
The focus on team health is about avoiding crunch, not COVID. And why wouldn't contractors be allowed in their office?
On the Elite 2 controller, was playing with a friend last night who just received their 3rd lemon replacement. Says if the next one is bad Xbox promised a refund. So probably ok if your original unit is fine but clearly something going on there. No issues yet with my Halo Infinite Elite 2. I intentionally don't play all games with it though. I know I'm busting that X and A button playing MLB the Show, so I use a normal controller.
Infinite has had 6 years of development time. Even after that terrible showing and a huge delay, it came out with a mediocre and barebones campaign, and a multiplayer without any roadmap while being a live service. This is business, and heads need to roll for this.
The fact Staten was called in at all is a sign to me that the people at ms are taking infinite seriously, and attacking or blaming the devs that are working hard to right the wrongs right now might no be all that constructive imo.
Im waiting for another month or so to jump in season 2 though, especially if it will last another 6 months.
And Cyberpunk had 9 years. You never know what dev problems were going on. With Cyberpunk the engine was being build while the game was being made. Some games are scrapped or changed half way through. Or leadership changes.
The game actually hasn’t been in development for 6 years. There was a leak of what the game looked like In late 2019 and I can tell that at that point, the game had only been in development for 6-8months maybe 1 year MAX. The game should have launched December 2022 or mid 2023 since they started in 2019.

I think employment needs to be addressed. They say the team is number 1 priority but they havent been honest about their 18month contracts and losing half yhe team when the game launched so hiring and continuing updates has delayed everything.
Halo Infinite is good but frustrating at the same time. The content offered is so bland and the challenge system is super annoying.

The Elite controller is poorly designed, no other way around it lol. A friend bought, fresh out of the box the left joystick got stuck to the right, returned it and never got another. So many people have issues with those controllers, so it's not anything you're doing wrong, Mike!

Ask some real questions that fans have been saying from the beginning. actually Joe didn't have any stipulations and we were free to ask whatever we wanted but with a limited amount of time it would have been a waste of time to ask about the rumored BR mode because he would not have confirmed it either way
