    The new report today is that Activision offered themselves to Microsoft to purchase them after going to Facebook/Meta first. Now, imagine if Facebook bought Activision for their Meta platform.
    About worries of monopoly, I do not think this even comes close to monopoly. Activision Blizzard is just so big that people assume that. Embracer has over 100+ studios, Tencent has shares and ownership of tons of studios including EPIC, TakeTwo just bought Zynga for $12bn, Sony are still buying teams after buying many teams in 2021. This is not even close to a monopoly.
    On a positive side, this purcahse will unleash Activision/Blizzard. Imagine teams like Raven Software; Toys for Bob; High Moon making brand new IPs and games now under Xbox. Banjo Kazoie is now possible, Fighting games are now possible under these new studios. These studio's creativity will now be revived

    • @sams-pg7hj
      @sams-pg7hj Před 2 lety +2

      I agree, this is a major player in the video games industry, but nowhere near a monopoly. id liken this to Disney buying marvel or lucasfilm, a major acquisition, but nowhere near a monopoly. and I also agree that sometimes acquisitions and collections under one company can be good. now all those companies have a stable backing and hopefully better environment.

    And this is definitely ain’t about a console war; it’s MUCH bigger than that.
    While I do think initially think this will be a great deal for GamePass / GP Ultimate subscribers, I also just think about with all these other big acquisitions, when is the other shoe gonna drop?
    Ya know, the one where these companies have to eventually recoup that money- and that comes from our pockets in the form of subscriptions. Those $10-15 GP / GPU prices are definitely going away. It’s just a matter of time of when and how much and how often it goes up (I STILL can’t fathom the magnitude of the Bethesda / Activision deals) and then the question becomes by each consumer “is GP still a good value?”

    I think all games will be available everywhere on Gamepass but they will come with all Microsoft services. Xbox will the the best place to experience them though.
    During the interview they even mentioned its the metaverese game. E.g. they want to incorporate Teams in the games so that is your default audio/video communication tool when playing them.
    I think, this way Microsoft will start getting a monopoly "again" over all the third party support services like discord.
