This actually happened to my family. But my outcome is that I am now even more close to Dad, that I am to my real father. After my mom moved me and my sister to his house ( were twins ) he would abuse my mother and would molest us. And my mother still wants to live with him because he is our father. It just makes me feel so sad every time that I think about how she has so many chances to leave but she still chooses to stay.

Studies show that having a stepdad or stepmom increases the risk of abuse by 60%. You're more likely to get abused if your mom/dad gets in a new relationship with whom you are not blood related with

My dad has a daughter from his first marriage and my mum never considered her any less part of the family. That's just an example of stepparents not all being abusive. It's the only one I know from personal experience and thank god I don't have any experience with abusive biological parents but i still know there are a lot of them out there. Being a parent isn't about biology, it's about loving your child even if they are not yours biologically
