@Byleth you are right! I'm actually a part of a support group and I have seen this more than I can count. The abusive partners keep app in their partners' phones and trackers in cars so they always know where they are.

She forced him into a choice that would impact his relationship with his best friends depending on which option he picked. She also used the friend's desire to go to the Lakers game to basically force him to chose to forgive her. And if he didn't forgive her, then his relationship with his friends and raji have been destroyed

I'd like to point out how interesting the desi family's strict theme is here. I myself am Sri Lankan and grew up with alot of Indian friends so I can relate to this. Alot of Desi dads are actually pretty chill and it's usually the mothers who are super traditional and strict. Daughters would get it from mothers like Raji here. This stems from how in Indian culture we like to compare families and sometimes compare within the family. Mothers and Aunts usually do this and they hold high nearly impossible standards that it feels like they'll never be happy with your choice. In fact it's the wedding they hold the highest regard to. The more expensive the better. Alot of this controlling behaviour also goes unchecked because therapy is sooo embarrassing to alot of families. This is mainly through my experience plus personally i've been outcasted from my own sri lankan community and family so feel free to correct me.

Not all the time mothers are conservative. I am Bangladeshi here. My mother is calm and doesn't mind, though I will have to eat cultural Bangladeshi food all the time. My dad is slightly stricter and wants me to study alot and gets angry or disappointed if im with white gal pals, as well as beating me with the large stick.
I'm not from India but I agree. Dads are usually pretty chill in my family my dad's the chill one. It's usually moms who are strict that is if Indian culture and African culture are not too different. feel free to correct me though.

Honestly this just reminds me of a friend of mine in secondary school, whose name was also John. Alright so as an Indian girl, I can confirm that impressing Indian dads is harder than literally everything on this planet 'cause they're just so protective of their daughters. In her case, she had a really cool dad but these are definitely not the norms in India.
