Yeah the driver was Jason Bright!! And all of Australia was pissing themselves laughing at this when he did this back in 2011. We were thinking yeah mate you have no idea what your in for, the best race course in the world. I drive it everytime I duck up to Bathurst you can’t help yourself to chuck a lap around it. Usually grab something to eat and drive up to Skyline and pull in at the park and have lunch the the view is great.I live 34 minutes from Bathurst.. am a Holden fan and of course a huge Brocky fan.. 😊🇦🇺❤️

A bit of trivia for you the ute ( utility vehical )or truck as you call it is a derivative of a car both Ford and General Motors Holden are represented in this race both of which are V8's. Ford Australia created the first ute in the 30's. Race cam the in car race camera was pioneered at Bathurst and invented and developed by Channel 7. Its now as you would know used world wide.

The “DIPPER” is nothing like it used to be..... the track is also totally different to the original “ COUNTRY ROAD”.
Every time they resurface it they fill in the Dipper a bit more and make the track “ easier” to drive.
Very different to the Cork Screw at Leguna Seca, which is only a chicane with a substantial drop.......you turn in to the left as the road drops down hill like a steep driveway. Before you can accelerate you have to turn right onto a flat and level exit.
The Dipper was named after the now outlawed amusement ride, the Big Dipper....... best roller coaster ever.......
The DIPPER is a left hand corner that is part of the fast downhill S bends that take you from SKYLINE down the mountain to Conrod straight.
The Dipper itself is a hole right on the apex and fast line through the corner...... but it was large and DEEP.......ride it like a Roller Coaster and pray it doesn’t brake your front end and steering or simply throw you across the track into the wall. lol

My husband & I used to attend the Easter Motorcycle races at Bathurst & my husband ticked one off his bucket list when he raced there in the mid 1980s. The concrete walls that were installed to protect specators made the circuit too dangerous for motorcycle racing. SBS Broadcasting made a good video called 4 Days of Bathurst that featured Denis Neil calmly commentating as he hustled his superbike through the field during a practice session. Denis was badly injured during the racing when the front wheel fell out of his Honda while wheelying up Mountain Straight.

Thats 24X375mil bottles, about 15 fluid ounces, per day. That's a bout three gallons of beer each a day. Some of these guys are serious drinkers.

I know you'll have a good time you remind me of the boys in the team from the states who came out I've worked for Valvoline Rahmoc racing when Bob & Butch had the team here in Australia when Morgan Sheppard and the great man and Nascar legend Neil Bonnett an honour to know a really good man drove the pontiacs for 2 victories at the Thunderdome. Everything you hear about Neil is 100% true its why him and Dale were mates. R I P both.

there was a serious demo race few years ago in adelaide international circuit (flat) track of the 3 versions of same model ford mustang to promo how the normal street car are as almost like all model mustang have the same DNA.... one version was a road car version (driver???), 2nd one is super V8 version, a grunt up mod racing of the street legal (driven by retired older dick johnson who won bathurst several times), 3rd one is nascar that is fully racing version - even the chassis and body panels, not even a power window but strip one seater-mod with nearly every thing are stacked-strapping of more heavier for more horsepower racing version (driven by marcos ambrose who won nascar races couple of times and also australian V8 supercar series' championship twice).... so basically the street car was given plenty of handy-cap, before the super V8 took off for the chase, after only few 10 seconds the nascar went off chasing the two.... the comparison synopsis of super V8 and nascar were very much at par..... apart from the straights and slight curves very much it's home ground, where the nascar really shows it's propelling tomahawk cruise missile flat on the ground as it torque like a quarter mile dragster racer .... and while the mod street legal grunty version have more the agility on bends and cornering, but along the beefing up to make it a toxic masculine of macho-up machine engines that can easily almost keep up with nascar, but just needing with given effort at the straights (the technical specs and shadow analysis comparison said so).... anyhows it was a photo finish for the two stock racers, while street car was left behind for obvious reason... if you can find this race video then you can make estimate nascar and super V8, and then assess how close they are and the differences.... now imagine bathurst mountain course against the oval road course speeway, and how the races and the cars have to be.... so in the hindsight the super V8 is more of the bootlegger descendant origins.... by the way there's also a Bathurst 12 Hour - Australia's International Endurance Race....

Thank you for the time to explain all that. I got you. All those drivers you mentioned I am quickly becoming familiar with. I will have a look at that for sure. It sounds like a blast. I'm a road race guy with a little bit of experience just having fun here in Middle America. It's called track night in America I run the Heartland Park two and a half mile road course in my Dodge Challenger wide body Scat Pack and it is a lot of fun. That wide body scatty is a heavy car and would probably be hands full and a chore to drive it Bathurst but I certainly would give it a go. Love the stories and the support. Lots of help moving forward for sure. Be well Mate.

@@OccasionalOutlaw if your talking about the same black car dodge charger (in aus I think that's what's it called here) in the movie bullit with steve mcqueen (he had the olive green ford mustang chasing the charger on the hilly streets of san francisco) then it's very much capable, even as an old school, but will be very punished like, "what did I do to ya" screeming engine, and bear in mind the kings of the mountain panorama still manage to total (wreckage beyond) their cars even after few thousands of mastering laps (that they even eat lunch driving at pace speeds).... actually what you are describing wide body muscle classic cars racing in bathurst is the "touring car masters international race series" (google it, there's even youtube videos of them, I think the minimum engine spec to be in the race is a four-barrel carburetor revved between 7200-7800rpm and certain age or older decade car made).... I have driven on the bathhurst track in one of those (maybe 6 or 10 times open weekends every year) occasions when the public can drive around when they are not in use, but there are always the police chase patrol, mobile radar speed cameras and the road portable humps and barrier nearly everywhere (like they're in a money making scheme competition revenue racing, faster than bathurst can get people entry tickets through the gates ).... so really expect the control the cars down to the speed of sunday drive to the pentacostal picnic, as in none of this hell raising chasing their demons.... and if ever you get to bathurst, it's really a marriage of your interest in one area..... since bathurst is the NSW capital of gold-silver fossicking (as in officially having some of the largest ever finds, ex: hill ends gold fields bathurst is still said paying nuggets).... there are hundreds of still chances spots for river panning, snipping and crevicing areas (ex: like around the areas of the vicinity of abercrombie caves of bathurst) but publicly there's a limit size for sluice box for personal prospecting.....actually there is the australian fossil and mineral museum in bathurst confirming this.....ta for the reply, be well too and as an occasionally outlaw don't do it too much, and heaps of cheers m8....
