I might be misunderstanding you, but I want to clarify that those textures just haven't rendered because the console can't handle it, not that the game ever actually had those textures
It's actually running pretty great now. Rx 560 pentium g4560 can run 60fps (or maybe even more if you turned the graphics down a little bit) at high settings.

To the people talking about textures - it's not textures that are the issue here. The problem is Level of Detail. In large maps, games usually have different meshes for object, one when the object is near, one when it is far, and one when it's in between. LODs are what theyre called. Meshes that are more far away are often warped in appearance, that's how you know the issue is LODs, not textures - the geometry of the object actually changes. LOD0 refers to the mesh that is loaded when the object is near, LOD2 is used when far. Sometimes it goes even higher. The problem that is clearly happening in PUBG is that since you start high up, each object in the game is loaded as LOD2, if it's loaded at all, since you're far away from everything. As you descend, you get closer to things, and need to swap LOD2s with LOD1s, and then LOD0s when you get close to landing for the things nearing you. That is A LOT of swapping of meshes in and out of memory, from hard drive to RAM. What PUBG devs obviously did NOT do is lower the quality of the meshes in the console versions, which would have lowered the amount of data that needed to be swapped. They also may have used too high of resolution for textures. Of course they also could have just done something incredibly stupid in their LOD setup too that prevented the game from swapping the most important LODs first, and defining sensible ranges for when those swaps should occur. It's not about textures as much as it is about level of detail for meshes. You can tell the meshes loaded fine, the meshes are just deformed, and those are only something you see for far away objects, and only because they're so far away that it doesn't as much what they look like.
It's game preview, it's not fully released yet, pretty obvious, but this is super early footage. If you go watch other streamers play this on XB1 it doesn't look this bad.

Buildings not loading and stuff makes me think of all the kids on PC who are crying about optimization. 😂. Game is just like ark when it first came out, terrible FPS on console.
