This is my exact same thought (1 year later). Its all about the power + heavy metal attitude/drama in the voice and the singer had it all. Remarkably close to Russell. Props to everyone for a flawless performance but major props to the singer for nailing the escense of one the best vocalist alive today.

This is absolutely incredible!!! I've been listening to Symphony X for 20 years, and this is the best cover I've ever heard! The only issue I have, is that the vocals are just a little too hot, but it's such a minimal critique, and it doesn't really detract from the song at all. You guys are such amazingly phenomenal musicians! I would love to hear originals from y'all, if you have any. Keep up the good work guys!

My biggest problem with Symphony X is their mixing. Never sounds quite right. Never the less, they're still legendary and one of my favorite bands.

Excellent cover. The singer fucking nails it. Absolutely spot on. Also, I have to give props to the the guitarist for nailing the pinch harmonic every time. People always seem to screw up that part by not getting the right pitch on the harmonic or they just bend and shake the note and call it a day. Great job!
Thanks man! This riff is indeed not so easy to make sound right. You've got to nail this pinch harmonic and to make a clear contrast between the end of the first bar that is not palm muted and the end of the second bar that is very palm muted :)
