15:32 Philosophy with Luis and Paul Chelimo
In this episode, Luis revisits what he's learned about how the most elite running culture in the world trains and gives a complete overview of what their typical training week looks like. He also includes lots of information about how to cater this program for yourself so you can train just like the Kenyans do.
Stay tuned to the end for a philosophical conversation between Luis and Olympian Paul Chelimo. They discuss the differences between the hustle culture of the west and the more laid back Kenyan approach which gives greater priority to rest and relaxation.

Love this. As a collegiate runner in the states, I definitely relate to being in a rush and always feeling guilt or pressure when relaxing. I got the chance to train in Mexico City and had the same liberating experience of a different social climate that wasn’t so uptight and stressful. It makes you a better runner. Thanks for the reminder that it’s okay to just enjoy company and relax!

The factors influencing athletic prowess in Kenya go beyond diet. The genetic composition and the unique geographical conditions of the region also play a significant role. It is worth noting that Kenya is home to 42 different tribes, but a majority of the renowned athletes hail from the Kalenjin tribe.

I hear you! I’m. Regular hobby runner/ 10km - 6 miles 3 days a week. I sometimes yearn for a group to run with. I run on my own, which is fine. But it must feel amazing the energy that a group like this could produce.
