  • I've been wanting to build a live edge cabinet for the longest time and finally got the chance to do so with a beautiful oak slab! Even cooler, it has adjustable shelving to house electronics and board games. I'm so stoked on this build and hope you guys love it too!

If you are going to paint over it, you can use this product from Bondo:
      www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Bondo-12-fl-oz-Wood-Filler-30081/206680651
It is a two part chemical that you mix, but it dries completely, ready to sand in about 15 minutes. It only has about five to ten minutes of working time after you mix it, so make small batches. They say it is able to take stain but I have not tried that. It works fantastic for painted surfaces.

Great project. Great video. I'll be using these plans to build an outdoor cabinet for my bar and smoker supplies. To weight down the center of large glue-up panels and boards I bought 25-lb bags of lead shot (available on Amazon). The don't take up much room in the shop and will conform to odd shapes when necessary.

You need to also oil the bottom of that slab to help preserve the wood. Otherwise, the top and bottom of the slab will move differently and you will get a cup shape to the top because the bottom will absorb moisture and expand while the top is sealed and remains more stable. Voice of experience.
