    How to get good:
    - Learn to mine and use your time efficiently. Lost time = Less experience and ore = Less upgrades.
    - Stop moving around doing absolutely nothing. This is wasting crucial time when you should be mining or getting levels.
    - Use your map to scour for ore.
    - Mine a LOT at the beginning when there aren't a lot of mobs around. Every single piece of Gold and Nitra you leave behind is a failure. This includes loot bugs.
    - Take more Movement Speed, Mining Speed and PICKUP RADIUS (which you almost never take!). It pays off quickly because you will leave less XP and ore behind and spend less time gathering them.
    - Always make sure you have a decent amount of Movement Speed, Mining Speed, Pickup Radius and Armor. Don't ignore these for lower tier grey damage perks!
    - Perks that increase XP gain have more value the earlier you take them. Always try to get some in the first couple of maps. After that they are less important.
    - Stop taking grey upgrades constantly when there are better options. Basically if you take two grey perks instead of two green ones, you have already lost a character level.
    - Level up your weapons to 12 to unlock their overclocks. Stop sticking only to the starter weapons. This is a main issue for your lack of progress, since you're not only lacking overclocks on good weapons, you're also picking and using those weapons at a HUGE disadvantage when they can't get overclocked.
    - Set one or two goals each run. Are you going to level a weapon to 12 this run to unlock overclocks? Then focus on that and forget the rest. Are you going to win the difficulty? Then don't take weapons that don't have overclocks unlocked, and mining meta progression ore will not be as important that run.
    - Don't prioritize perks that only increase weapon level unless your goal is to unlock overclocks or complete certain mission quests (such as reaching a specific weapon level). Increasing weapon level does nothing for you other than getting you closer to an overclock, and is generally not worth taking over a different upgrade of similar rarity.
    - Mission quests (such as collecting Bolo caps) is NOT as important as you think. The rewards aren't that great and should NEVER be a priority over mining. See it only as an extra bonus.
    - The increased healing on level up perk is great. Stop ignoring it.
    - Use weapons with Cold and/or Knockback. These are lifesavers, and you barely ever take them. Upgrade such weapon to 12 so you have access to their overclocks!
    - If you feel that a level is under control and the boss is below half health, don't necessarily kill it right away since this will trigger the 30 second escape pod timer. Instead, collect more ore and XP while you still can before you kill the boss. Just make sure you don't wait too long.
    - You can get more done in 30 seconds than you might think. Look at the map where the pod is and understand how much time you will need to get there. You'll be amazed at how much ore and XP you can collect during that time and still get out in time. Leaving with more than 5-10 seconds left should only be done when you're at risk of taking a lot of damage.
    - You often don't need to mine so much on the last level. This is the only time it becomes less important (because you won't get any more stores to spend the resources anyway). It can still be fine to mine for meta progression materials or getting gold for perk rerolls or gold/nitra to scale certain perks you might have picked, but it becomes a secondary objective instead of a primary one on the last level.
    - Destroying the large egg (to spawn the final boss) on the last level as quickly as possible is usually a good thing because less time spent on the level means the enemies won't have time to get so strong. Your strategy of holding off with spawning the last boss to try to gain another level or two is NOT a better option and it will never compensate for the increasing strength of the enemies.
    I could go on, but these are mistakes you are currently making off the top of my head. If you listen to this advice you will quickly do much better.

      The feeling reminds me of Genshin Impact in terms of lack of quest markers or waypoints. Which is fine. I'm not saying the game should have them. Because its doing just fine without them *clearly* but just like how even games like Elden Ring or Dark Souls is not for everyone Deep Rock Galactic wasn't for me.
      And for me its not so much because I don't enjoy hard games. I just hate getting lost not knowing where to go. And DRG along with a few other open world games did exactly that to me. Which sucks for DRG because I *WANTED* to like this game after seeing the review of it from Skill Up. It looked like a lot of fun! Even had a friend buy it for me too! But sadly just wasn't my thing. • @FifthNight
    @FifthNight Před 3 měsíci +4

    When it comes to understanding priorities, mining is more important and here is why. When you start a run, killing yields exp. A small bug yields one XP orb. Every mineral deposit yields 3 orbs which means if you harvest a deposit, you can get 18 exp orbs while also getting the minerals for upgrades after the round. This means that the deposits overall have more value in them and it's more efficient than spending a ridiculous amount of time just to kill 18 tiny bugs. By just mining alone you will get more upgrades off the bat, you can dodge bugs and let them pile up, then get an AoE weapon to nuke them. This also allows exp to be consolidated to save time running around and prevent excess exp scattering.

  • @denissviridov1756
    @denissviridov1756 Před 3 měsíci +11

    Asmon is SOOOOO focused on killing mobs. Bugs are super slow, you can outrun them even while mining walls. Instead of standing still for like several minutes??? and killings waves, he could've run around, mine a lot (because bugs are slow) AND THEN kill the wave (usually grouped with other one & by blowing them up by themselfs in like 10-20 secs). Also when the boss spawns - this is the best time to loot all the xp/finish missions.

He should start each round aggressively farming gold/nitra and doing side objective, then do a lap or 2 around the entire map collecting the XP left behind, then you kill all the enemies in the waves, dragging each level out as long as possible to get as many level ups per stage. In the same way damage and reload speed and fire rate respectively make the other 2 better; the mining, move speed, luck, xp gains, and pickup range make each other better. You gotta go for early xp and luck, pick weapons that have synergies and then get your damage upgrades that cover all your weapons through that synergy ie projectile, fire, heavy, thrown etc. then use your mining to get tons of nitra and use the nitra to get weapon levels and hit your milestones. Also on level 5 you need to clear out anywhere you plan to run from the boss to before it spawns. the game has you cover the map killing the mini boss eggs for a reason.

    Mining is like leveling aince you shop at the end of levels and ores you bring home become permanent upgrades so in that sense it’s more important. Killing for exp levels is like a bonus for doing that and surviving.

    The most frustrating thing is that he never focuses on getting any of his other weapons to 12. You NEED all weapons at 12 one time if you want to stand a chance on higher hazard levels so you can have overclocks unlocked for future runs with them all.

    Well here is my take:
    Farm a few hours on hazard 1-2 to get meta upgrades (even though his meta upgrades arent looking bad)
    Try to level every class for weapon unlocks
    He has like 4 weapons in total that is unlocked for overclock, he could also level them to lvl12 so he can overclock them
    On gunner don't take fire overclock, when you are full kinetic
    If you have nitra dmg and crit buffs from drop, farm them and hold onto it, spend only for best upgrades (nitra dmg isnt very good cuz it messes your move speed, better to avoid)
    Also if you get nitra crit buff, then all in on it, get 75% crit and unlock the best drop buff in the entire game
    First 2 levels ignore bugs, just run and mine, you collect xp when looping the boss at the end and also mining gives a ton xp, so mining and collecting dropped xp later on is more beneficial.
    I could say so much more, but I feel like I'm just wasting my time right now 😂

    I like the driller most, set hazards and don't even have to worry about killing, just mine the ores. Gunner is nice if you get the shotgun and minigun because virtually nothing can survive as you run towards it, meaning you should always have the option to create an escape path.

  • @twoeyes
    @twoeyes Před 3 měsíci +1

    This game has nothing to do with killing bugs there aren't 2 activities you just MINE and thats it, especially early on you need to mine the bugs are just in the way. You need at least 38-40 nitra at the end of round 1 so you can afford red upgrades- always get LUCK when its available and always choose weapons that use the same stats. There are no resistances in the game so you can have all fire weapons and if you get +10% fire damage and have 4 fire weapons this is equivalent to +40% fire, you hover over the upgrades and an icon pops above the weapons it affects (except the upgrades like +dmg which affect all weapons, and show no icons). When comparing 2 upgrades, multiply the upgrade by the # of weapons affected to get an apples to apples comparison. CRIT chance and CRIT damage are excellent especially early on before you know what weapons you'll have bc they affect everything. By the end I often I have 60-80% crit chance and 200+% crit damage. Those are just a few tips but I have a lot more, it seems simple but maybe I should make a guide if people really struggle that much lol. Oh also unlock the weapon overclocks on stages you've already cleared. They're meant to be played more than once, so if you aren't replaying stages you've beat then you are going to just beat your head against the wall. Its easier to run around and mine on earlier stages rather than being undergeared and pressured on later stages without time to mine the mats you need for the character upgrades.

    You want to stop turning and fighting the swarm on every character. Even on the gunner who does it best, you get NOTHING for it after the dive.
    XP = killing bugs = XP = gone after each dive.
    Kiting (esp. by mining) = *still* not dying to bugs = exploring new parts of the map = MINERALS = permanent upgrades
    This is the big thing you said you felt like you were missing in an earlier video. This is the playstyle you started to get with the driller last time, but didn't fully appreciate.

    • @lukecreamer8426
      @lukecreamer8426 Před 3 měsíci

      at 6:30 you start kiting out the swarm correctly - and using the yellow bugs to detonate them fairly well sans the damage you took - and the stragglers you ran into after you juked the swarm totally evaporated in front of you. That's what's great about the gunner - you can't slay the whole swarm with the gun, but you can always find a weak part of the formation and blast yourself a path.
      Choose the path into the fog, get more minerals, not XP.

    • @lukecreamer8426
      @lukecreamer8426 Před 3 měsíci

      at 12:30 you really botch it taking ~120 yellow bug damage in 2 seconds, but they do ALL THE WORK killing the swarm for you anyways. Prioritize move speed if you can't dodge those, and keep using them as much as you can to kill the others. Get mine speed to kite through rock faster, and MINE FASTER. This is the way.
      The gun is just for pretty lights and sounds, and that is fine.

      @li-co It incentivise to focus on a particular weapon to discover its use and scale. Many people would easily overlook a weapon that they might have liked at further upgrades because they might not have been inspired to pursue them at lower levels.
      It's not new as an introduction mechanic, nor is it trash. Gaining ranks is the same logic. As it is for many other games requiring you to level, or use an ability in order to upgrade it.
      It doesn't force you to do filler runs, but doing it at lower levels is logically easier, more casual, more relaxed. It doesn't take long; and it is not as grindy as gaining ranks or rare minerals, and none of the three are required. It's just a slower progression with completinionist incentives. It feels grindy and a waste of time if you do not like the game at its core.
      TL; DR: it might just not be your taste.

    First half of the round you should be exploring, grabbing easy mining veins, trying to 100% your objective, and get the supply pod... second half of the round you should be digging into defensible positions and making circles to pickup the most xp bubbles.
    Also you NEED to overclock all of your weapons, do this on hazard level 1 if you have to, it's a waste to upgrade weapons on higher level hazards because you need all the upgrades to survive.
    Also as others mention, you need to study the meta weapon combinations, ideally stacking acid + fire + electricity or plasma for maximum synergy

    Asmon doesn’t read these comments so this is for all you guys. but he needs to prioritize weapon upgrades over passive upgrades . There’s a reason why weapon upgrades cost more than the passives in the store. Only go for passives over weapons when they’re at least two rarity levels above a weapon. Paint jobs are nice and handy especially when it gets you an overclock. But be sure you don’t put too many on your main dps weapons. That’ll help you guys deal with early stages.
    When you start the game just focus on meta progression grinding. You’re going to lose a lot of dives but then you’ll reach a point where you’ll feel like certain hazards are too easy.

    @Asmongold TV Here is a Tip. Hopefully he will see a comment😅
    1) Don't worry about killing enemies on early stages. Mining rocks will give you more XP.
    2)IMPORTANT! When you mine rocks try walk efficiently, without rotations around same rocks or same place. If there is a lot enemies use rotation if there is no other options in order to avoid dmg.
    3) Prioritize mining 1Nitro(red crystals in stones) for weapon upgrades, 2Secondary objective(gives gold) stats upgrades, 3Gold rocks, 4rest of rocks(green, white, brown, ect) for upgrades in main menu( also to make it easier, before trying to beat 3rd difficulty upgrade passives to lvl 5 at least)
    4) As you progress to next stages mobs will get stronger and depending on current objective you will need switch priorities(example killing a stage boss faster as mobs will get stronger overtime)
    5)Armor is helpful, but don't rely on it, try to avoid damage and risk less, pick speed buff over armor, it will give you more protection and time to farm rocks longer.
    Rest stuff like "weapon builds" you can figure out on your own, game is definitely hard and makes you pay for many small mistakes in end, DON'T GIVE UP!

    First of all you need to move a lot,
    destroying blockage if stuck and dont think about the xp drops,
    mining also gives you xp,
    before the last elite on every map appears then you collect the XPs you left behind by circling the swarm out if the magnet didn't appear, if magnet is present, get it when the last elite on map shows to gain all the xp you need before killing the final elite on the map
    if you use driller mine every thing and don't think about killing mobs, Upgrade option is your best friend in the long run
    dont be afraid of taking damage in early game just run and mine, this game is not made for killing every bugs, its made for mining everything you see
    you also need a lot of retries on this game to unlock every weapon and weapon upgrades.

    You need more meta progression before Haz3. Basicallt Play _lots_ of haz1 before 2, and lots of 2 before 3.
    The worst part of this game for me is the overclock unlocking system. every single weapon has to be upgraded in a run to lvl 12, only then do you get overclocks in future runs at weapon lvl 6,12 and 18. If you start playing haz3 for instance, and you get guns that are not overclock-unlocked, you are screwed (at least without most other meta upgrades)
    The other grindy part is the meta-upgrades. You really need them for the higher haz-levels. And the only way to get them is to do ALOT of runs on Haz1/2 to get the "special minerals"
