To everyone thinking of mentioning La Pucelle Tactics: it isn't a spinoff of Disgaea because spinoffs have to come out *after.* LPT came out *before* Disgaea and established some mechanics and worldbuilding which other games, like the Disgaea series, Phantom Brave, etc. expanded on. So, if anything, Disgaea was a spinoff of LPT.

Good lord. Whenever I look at Disgaea I can't help but want a full Skyrim Style RPG in that universe.
Like, make your own demon to play as, maybe starting off as a Prinny in the prinny school from D4, with all the characters from that like Fuka and Valvatorez present and having their own shenanigans. Eventually you reincarnate as a proper demon and start exploring the netherworlds, gathering a small party and AAGH... I'm in love

Phantom Brave was my first "Disgaea" game, the main characters of Disgaea make their appearance after you finished the story but i had no idea who they were at that time.

FLCL's Eri Ninamori, Felicia in Cross Edge, Cowboy Bebop's Ed, Digimon's Rika - she seems to get a lot of cool rolls.
The last boss of Prinny can I really be the hero is a WRIST KILLER. You have to master rapid-button-press. The prinny can slash as fast as you can push the button so you need to get machine gun thumbs. The last boss can only be fought for a certain amount of time before he does an attack that destroys the platform you're standing on; so you have to attack him enough to beat him while dodging his attacks the whole time. It's very difficult.
oh god i remember this, from 800+ prinnies i was reduced to 400+ because of this boss.
He's nothing when compared to Etna, that fight is just cruel even on normal difficulty: you've got Etna on a bigass palanquin, two mini Pringer-X 'es flying around and sniping you with lazers, Fallen Flonne and a nekomata dropkicking you from above, Artemis and his ultimate zombie which he was assembling in the first Disgaea... That fight gave me PTSD since by that point I collected all medals with only three left - one for beating Etna, one for completing the bestiary (with her being the last remaining enemy), one for finding all music disks (again, you get one by beating her). It was a complete nightmare.

prinny was actually my introduction to the disgaea series
same! i got it as a kid and was like "what? these little penguin guys are talking about demons and hell, whats going on here?"
got disgaea 2 and 4 about 10 years later and have been in love with the series ever since. truly one of a kind.
I played tons of hours on trinity universe. The combos that the player could get off in the late game and memorizing all the combo patterns, arranging them in the best possible order was a lot of fun to me. Also, like always in disgaea or digaea-ish games, the charakters were awesome. Lots of love for that game from me. I found out way later about disgaea and that made trinity universe even more special to me, having a few charakters of the series I came to love too.
I have a love - hate thing for the first Prinny game is so frustranting yet so fun.
Kinda sad you didn’t put Soul nomad it was the best and Gig is amazing
The prinny games are such a fucking pain in the ass the first time you play them, but if you're skilled and master the gameplay they're an absolute joy to play, they hold you hand

Nice video! When it comes to the Prinny games, I feel like they are more similar to Castlevania when it comes to how the jumping works, stiff but functional. I like the games, I would like to see more Prinny games but hey, I am satisfied on what we got but one spin off I would love to see is an Arc System Works Disgaea fighting game.

-makai kingdom is EXTREMLY hard for a disgaea game, and it does not pull punches.
-the disgaea manga with the realistic art style is actually really REALLY good.
You missed La Pucelle Tactics... The Spin off series where Angels had to go to the Dark World. It features Prier from Disgaea 2, 3 and 4.
You've got it backwards. LPT came out first. It isn't a spinoff; if anything, the Disgaea series was spun off from LPT.

I just started playing Disgaea 5 for the first time lol
Before I played the first one, I had read that the Prinny games were like Ghost n' Goblins clones, and after I played it a few months ago, I can definitely see why people compare them, both in terms of how they play (wonky jumping from the first Ghost n' Goblins included) and for being pretty difficult.
.....NEP-NEP! First she is cursed to be a Motorcycle and know a time Traveling Clock! I actually surprised ther are no hints to that in eny of the HDN Games. Im actually surpriesed of the lack of Disgaea refrences.

There's Mugen Souls 1 & 2, they aren't set in the Disgaea universe but have the same kind of humor.

Have you ever tried "ZHP: Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman"? It's a PSP game that's not set in the same universe, but it plays like a real-time version on Disgaea. Highly recommended!
I always assumed the unlosing ranger vs darkdeath evilman was a disgaia spin off. It certainly has a similar art style and plays in the same turn based way.

Isn't Disgaea A Brighter Darkness ( or Disgaea D2 in America ) a spin-off or a continuation of the main story from Disgaea 1?
Continuation.
Spin-off means that it doesnt have any canonical leverage. Makai Kingdom would theoretically be part of the main line due to happening after Disgaea 1 (look up and you'll see why)
it would be cool if we got a console prinny collection of 1&2 or a sequel with the prinnies going to different netherworlds and fighting the main cast of disgaea 1-5 to get rare items.

Makai Kingdom isn't a spinoff. It just happens to borrow a lot of aspects from both Disgaea and Phantom Brave.
It is a spinoff, because it takes place in the Disgaea universe, but isn't part of the main series.
Here's the Japanese name for the mobile phone game, if you want to bother looking into it more. Still not much more info though, since it was a game before the smartphone era.

No, other way around. La Pucelle Tactics came out first. It established some basic worldbuilding and mechanics which other games later expanded on and characters from LPT have made cameos in other NI games like Disgaea.

There are different opinions on this, but I don't consider it a spin off even if there are Digaea characters. Trinity Universe or Cross Edge have Digaea characters, yet those aren't spin offs either.
I love disgaea infinite but the game is too short.

It's not part of the Disgaea series. I guess it would count more as a crossover (like Trinity Universe for example)

Er...I think you're confusing makai kingdom with being a game that has a character in disgaea, and always a hidden character at that. If you include that in the list, you might as well include la pucelle tactics, phantom brave, rhapsody and soul nomad

Casp O'Saurus hat eine richtig gute Analyse zu den Spielen gemacht und deren Gameplay gut erklärt. Ich hoffe du wirst das Video dazu irgendwann mal anschauen.
Es fühlte sich fast so an wie als wären die Prinnyplattformer nicht die Zeit wert, sich mit denen richtig auseinander zu setzen :/
