17 years later and still sounds freakin' amazing! Such a great band!
Ok elastica
Janet is one of the best drummers in rock history
Powerful and precise, yet with a swing, class act.
1000% this!
Sad she's not in the band anymore😥
Totally agree. Me and my friend Louis would always discuss how great she was.
This is a joke right?
Those drums are seriously unbeatable.
Not to mention the most rhythmic boobs in the buisness.
@@chrisoliver3642 Prick
SK is ultimately lush x
did you mean one-beatable?
@@susanallison1598 👏👏👏
I have such a crush on Carrie Brownstein it's ridiculous. One of my favorite albums, The Woods.
This is tightest shit ever. I can’t believe how many years I’ve rocked out to this and it’s still so relevant.
Can we take a second to recognize how fucking talented these people have to be to make there sound as rich as it is without a bass player
Carrie has such an awesome presents. A born rocker. Sleater-Kinney is definitely one of the best and most consistent rock bands out there. At least one more album please.
bradbla ... presence* ... I'm aware it's been 3 yrs and you probably learned this on your own by now but presence* goddamnit!
Such a dramatic and gripping song, it just grabs me and pins me to the wall, they look so damn stylish in the video too! It should have been a number one hit in a proper music world.
+Digital Dan Yeah her voice is just amazing, saw them live last year still one of the best live bands I've seen. Well Willow is actually my favourite character overall. Sure lets be friends.
+Digital Dan Well hopefully now that their back they won't be going anyway for awhile so you will get your chance.
One of those mythic 2006 CZcams videos.
This Video Was Posted On My 10th Birthday. Aah, 2006. Oh How I Missed You So Much.
"wooo shake youur hair around janet" most glorious thing ive ever heard at a show
Janet Weiss is so my favorite drummer. This band has the whole package there all so talented.
Where do we go now this perfection is ended?
Triple MMM Corin Tucker is one of the best songwriters of all time without question, not to mention that both her and Carrie have some of the best voices in rock
Contrary to the fans who think they were better in the early years, the inclusion of Janet Weiss put Sleater-Kinney on another level. Her enthusiastic drumming and improvisation complimented Carrie and Corin's guitar playing perfectly. That to me is what made them more than just 'another riot grrl band'.
This band is unreal. S-K is one of those bands that raised the bar for rock bands, to me, anyway. There is no other band that sounds like them, and there probably never will be. They're just brimming with talent.
"The Woods" is easily one of the greatest rock albums ever made. Fucking incredible!
I saw them at The Big Day Out in 2006 and they sounded amazing !
A MASTERPIECE!!!
WHAT THE FUCK!!! Returning after all these years!! Still one of the best fucking songs ever made!! Sleater Kinney the woods was the best! Recall they said they didn’t think they could top the album, and disappeared. Many awesome projects came out, but, the next album was 🔥🔥🔥 then something weird happened. Like the smashing pumpkins, lost all the fire and the redness. I literally have hearing damage from seeing them on the woods tour, busted my ears
its funny how this came out years years ago but its message still applies to today and what is going on. makes you reflect on everything doesnt it? i love the sound too. amazing group. makes me sad that there arent more groups like this in the genre.
One of my favourites from them. Raw energy, great drums with great sound. Love it!
this song and video represent the absolute peak of a band that was always on top of its game. it allll comes together here. so good.
this is easily one of the most underrated greatest bands of all time. love you guys! i would loooove to see them live.
This song is ageless and its fucking rad.
It's patronizing to call them the greatest "girl" band - they don't need the qualifier - they're unequivocally one of the best rock trios ever
They suck
Jason Innes you suck
Celtic Revival / Adfywiad Celtaidd like who
not even close
That's a pretty bold statement. But I WOULD put them up there with some of the greatest three-pieces ever, but above Nirvana, The Police, Sublime, or Green Day
Wow Twilight looks amazing
PLEASE *kfasl;gjs;gjkaskgjasdgkljsadglk*
Great band . Janet Weiss is unreal, walked in on them doing a jam at the Leeds Festival in the 2000s. They were fucking bring it. Doff the cap to the Kinney.
Love Sleater-Kinney, love Portlandia. Didn't even know the connection till I read the comment thread. No wonder she looks familiar.
this song has been in my head all day!!!
i'm a sucker for Corin's voice.
Janet Weiss, you will be missed.
Put a bird on it! 00:34
Original!
Haha portlandiia
Absolute icons. What a song.
I kept expecting to see a sasquatch rocking out behind a tree.
JOHNNY GET YOUR GUN!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: Jesus, Corin is one of the best vocalists in rock, honestly
I saw this video back in 2005 or 2006, and thought "who the fuck is this? This is incredible!" Been hooked on Sleater Kinney ever since.
music of my generation, when there's still honesty in music.
I first got into them on One Beat, but this album is amazing. I used to play it before going to my shitty factory job to help get me through it.
Definitely. Dig Me Out brought Sleater-Kinney to a whole new level.
I could listen to these drums all night! Until it was time to sleep and then I'd complain. But man, what a time until then!
Gotta love Janet putting a straight up beat down on her kit with absolute impunity. Her gear was begging for mercy but was gettin' none.
one of the best rock songs this century. epic.
My favourite Sleater Kinney song, this is saying a lot as I have the entire collection!
I could quote Call The Doctor and many more but this is properly hard and in your face!
one of Eddie Vedder's fav songs, that man has good taste
LOVE
Easily one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.
Sleater Kinney would be a lot more mainstream if they hired somebody like Butch Vig to produce their records. He’s had plenty of success producing alternative rock bands and knows what he’s talking about.
love their abrasive uniqueness!! great lasting quality to their music.
I saw an interview with Carrie live at the beginning of the month at the YOUTH Forum. She's pretty cool. :P
I was commuting between Seattle and Puyallup when this album came out. it made that awful drive bearable! And then saw them open for the White Stripes at the Gorge that year, to this day the best concert I've ever seen. Man, this brings back good memories!!
wow. BLOWN AWAY. never seen these women before.
I'm a first time listener. Good old Facebook video post on Portlandia page gets me every time.
I don't think it should matter....the good thing is,we found her.
And we all know that is a big enough life changer to bring us Brownstein fans together.
Damn...they still got it, rock on ladies!
I can't take this seriously. I kept expecting a cat to come in with a guitar solo or start spinning records or something. Maybe the mayor of Portland to drop in with his bass.
I watch this over and over just to see Janet play. I wish there was a version with just her!
I'm with you. She is one of the most joyous drummers of all time, with a fat sound, to boot. I turn into a dumbfounded boy with a crush whenever I watch her play. Love Quasi.
on your TV dial!
I can't look at a Sleater-Kinney video without thinking about Portlandia lol
while everyone was listening to the Breeders and L7 in the 90's, i was listening to Sleater-Kinney!
Some of us were listening to all of the above. As well as Lunachicks, Bratmobile, Bikini Kill, Babes In Toyland etc etc etc
All of The Woods is fabulous!
We can pickle this!
1. It's a music video. Ask that about all music videos.
2. As previously stated, it's Sleater-Kinney. Trees blast their music as they walk past, and no one has a problem with it.
You know, The Woods is an indie rock masterpiece....
Its all good. I finally looked up Carrie today and now have an even greater appreciation of her.
I'm surprised I didn't recognize Carrie in Portlandia right away. She's got to be my second favorite woman in the world. First being PJ Harvey.
8 years old and it looks this good...
I love this song so much!
Sleater Kinney rulez!
This song/album is their most intense and BEST they put out!
I'm so glad I finally found this song again!!!
Summer '05!!
Love these girls. They were so great together.
How does this only have 100,000 views. Needs WAY more.
I see sleater-kinney nearly everyday. The street, that is.
I remember being on tour with my band in Portland back in '03 and our guitar player kept teasing his girlfriend (the merch-wench) who was a big SK fan: "Hey look, it's Sleater Kinney!" (pointing at each and every girl we saw wearing a hoodie) ... He gave her such a hard time, I always figured SK must be some horrible thing that I would hate, but now that I hear it, I think it rocks! If it weren't for Portlandia, I'd have never even remembered hearing the name.
Greetings from the world's newest Sleater Kinney fan!
Correction, we were in Olympia, not Portland. :-)
Joseph LoGiurato yes, they are a very good band and live better
Piero5711It just goes to show how closed minded and misogynist some so-called "punk rockers" can be... Thankfully, the "Orthodox Punk" thing has gone out of style again. Happy listening!
I have so many feelings about Sleater-Kinney. So. Many. Feelings.
Came back to say: this is one of the greatest rock songs ever. I’m talking too 20.
Just amazing in every way.
I wish I could walk into my woods and find Sleater-Kinney performing.
I am new to Sleater-Kinney,since I read a review in Entertainment Weekly about The Woods and bought it and was blown away.I didn't know if they were anti-MTV or whatever,I just knew that they are ten times better than most of the crap that those music channels play.
I love you Sleater-Kinney
What a great song.
I'm just watching all the Sleater Kinney videos for the first time. They're fucking awesome. Carrie is the reason I use a BOSS Blues Driver effects pedal as thats pretty much all she uses and her sound is just excellent.
Holy shit, did not a band such as this existed until 2015.
Heh - bands with two guitars and a drummer were what inspired me to take up the bass back in the garage days. They do a better job of making it work than we did.
Amazing!!!
I wouldn't have heard of this band if it wasn't for Le Tigre. And it's a good thing I did cuz this is an AWESOME BAND!! Pretty sure at least ONE of the members played Patti Smith's 'Horses' on a loop just me when I first bought it.
Im from South Carolina i thank my kouzin Louis from another state for introducing me to punk rrriot girrl music an opening my mind i even watch Portlandia
Great song from an amazing album!!
Mind blowing stuff they totally rock
WOAH OHH OHH!
The Portlandia girl, is a rock star!!! I love you Carrie
Gawd i miss these chicks. What fucking energy.
sleater-kinney are for some reason the best at making music videos where the music actually lines up with the video, every other band i've seen do that is always way off
simply awesome
This is awesome!
put an owl on it
I started watching Portlandia after I heard good things and didn't even know Carrie Brownstein was in it haha, was an awesome surprise.
Your all so friggin cool!
14 years ago!?!? 😵😵 I remember seeing them on this tour.
Thank you! Now to Urban Outfitters to find a new beanie to replace my summer one.
good song
really liked the band. Great sound.
I love her voice . . .
Carrie Brownstein is like PJ Harvey after the cut. It goes down so smooth and lifts you up gently, you don't even remember what you took.
