they might have read a book by a mourning dad about his adopted daughter who got accepted to college and then, apparently thinking she’d peaked, jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge early one morning, leaving a note explaining where to find the family car near the bridge. i read this book after my own godson suicided himself.
I’m australian and I am very embarrassed and disappointed by the folks there. Aussie crowds are supposed to be the best!! I wasn’t even born when this song came out and I would kill to be in that crowd jumping up and down singing my arse off.
@@Genny-Zee It's ok, They're just having a bad day. Maybe it was too hot. Aussie crowds made up for it with Veruca Salt! czcams.com/video/0cMRkgH8yYw/video.html
hmmm... if we leave Dave Weckl out and say he's primarily fusion (which is absurd by itself, but just for giggles), that leaves (in no particular order) Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio, Tim (Herb) Alexander, Danny Carey ....i ran out of a fourth place slot
This live performance would have been ten times better if the crowd was going wild. One of my favourite songs by Sleater-Kinney. And Janet is incredible on the drums - amazing what a three piece without a bass player can do.
THIS was the Carrie performance I missed sooooooooo much! 3:17-3:20. she shakes this dripping, discordant, electrified static from the neck of her guitar, and it makes me feel all tingly.
being from California and knowing the history of the golden gate bridge and it's. draw for those who want to commit suicide. ..this song holds a lot for me.
I turned 40 tolday, I lived and breathed playing really bad guitar.. I tell you these people are very good, shes so good her style leaves her room for stuffs.
this song.....there's just something about this song, this ONE song is SOOO different from ALL their songs, i mean style wise they've covered EVERY area of rock but this song! I just can't figure it out...i LOVE it, but what makes it SO different to me, what area of rock it actually is??? idk:-P
goddamn Corin's vocals SOAR over this song (and every other). carrie is, like, one of my main inspirations but Corin always impresses the hell out of me. without her, there truly would be something missing. oh, and janet weiss could take on John Bonham any fucking day of the week.
A very heavy sound. I love it. They always sound good live, but this is extra heavy. With the original lineup, they were a force of nature (like Janet accurately described it). They're still really good, just different. I miss Janet though.
Janet wasn’t in “the original lineup.” Laura was the original drummer. She was on the 1st two albums, but then wanted to return to her home in Australia. The first album was recorded in Australia.
Much better as hard driving rock instrumental band, they lack a signature vocalist. Not punk, more indie sound. Still overall exciting all girl band. I remember seeing Fanny live in Cincinnati circa 1968, they were aggressive but ultimately just didn't have it to blow up. worst band live ever were Grand Funk Railroad they made ears bleed with extreme loudness, like hundreds of jets together.
"I took a taxi to the Gate, I will not go to school again" Good Lord. So much emotion in one line. Poetry.
4 seconds was the longest wait.😢

how is this crowd not losing their shit during this song?! seriously.. this was such a good performace..
First thing I thought of. WTF?

The song was new at the time. They likely hadn’t formed much of an attachment to it yet
Can confirm me ans friends went nuts here and at the solo gigi next niggt. Rest of crowd sucked
This song recharges me, I always feel stronger after listening to it, I have more to give, and I feel like I can win the fight... for a second.
Tuckers lungs though... belting out the music.
Janet Weiss is one of the three or four best drummers in rock'n'roll history.
hmmm... if we leave Dave Weckl out and say he's primarily fusion (which is absurd by itself, but just for giggles), that leaves (in no particular order) Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio, Tim (Herb) Alexander, Danny Carey ....i ran out of a fourth place slot
Michael Lindgren While Carrie and Corin are two of the best songwriters
Simmer the fuck down.
*bill warddddd
asshole
Jesus, the drums sound so good.
Her tone is amazing. Janet is a real talent and is appearing in nearly every "best drummer" list in the rock press.
this crowd is CANCELED
This live performance would have been ten times better if the crowd was going wild. One of my favourite songs by Sleater-Kinney. And Janet is incredible on the drums - amazing what a three piece without a bass player can do.
No doubt.. Lame crowd
Fucking Brilliant, as Always. One of the Top 10 Bands in the History of Rock.
THIS was the Carrie performance I missed sooooooooo much!

one of the best bands ever
This is so 2006 and literally my favorite thing ever. Carrie and Janet are spectacular!!
jeez....tough crowd
remember, they were WAY ahead of their time
Two things: typical hipster crowd or they're unfamiliar with this band.
@@johndotcue unfamiliar probably.i would have been screaming my lungs out .Jumpers is a great song.
Janet f’ng Weiss. Wow!
Flat out rocks!! Love Janet's Rolling Stones shirt, she is truly as relevant as Charlie Watts in Rock N Roll music.
I love Carrie Brownstein and your three bands: Excuse 17, Wild Flag and Sleater Kinney
lonely as a cloud! love the line
One of the greatest bands to ever perform and this crowd is "c'mon, impress me." God, I hate modern rock audiences.
What a song! This was my companion when I wanted to jump...
This is masterful.
I just started watching portlandia
Well, the nerd on Portlandia becomes one hell of a rocker on stage.
That sound is right out of the mixing board! Like being dead centre of those PA stacks.
they sound so perfect, even without a bass player
He`s standing in the wings I think
@@ianrobson9601 Corin uses a pitch shifter pedal to get bass sounds from her guitar.
@@POPNDOUGH and it's pretty clear in this video that the "bass" sound come from her guitar
excellent
Janet Weiss!
CORIN!!

Disco Punk
I guess…
They're better than the most comercial rock bands ever!
A week later, still amazing.
Rock the fuck out of those drums, Janet! It's the fucking Catalina Wine Mixer.
Just a awesome band

oh, and janet weiss could take on John Bonham any fucking day of the week.
Amazing.
I am intrigued. I've got hella permasmile 💜
AMAZING performance!!! Wish I was there!
so so good!!!
this song is so sad
carrie really loves that SG doesnt she?
FUCKING JANET WEISS!!!!!! WHAT A QUEEN
Wow! What a performance!! So glad i got to see them when they were around,They are bloody missed nowadays.
Nice upload.
lol, oh 2006. i forgot how "standing around and looking disingenuously disinterested" was the cool thing to do. what a strange time.
Superb!
I bought their last record!
It 's one of the best albums i've ever heard!
Wonderful.
god....
you post amazing SK quality videos.
Love Corin
The rim shots on the snare drum are so biting and vintage sounding. As if Ringo has a gorilla arm.
ethereal like a rain of angel bombs/goddesses of electricity
love
Demoledoras. Fantásticas.
WOW !!!!
I would have totally been their groupie ; )
epic, classic
What I'd do to switch places with one of those inactive audience members...
Corin
Geez the crowd is more dead than my grandfather.

I Am in Love with the red hair chick
i miss corin....i fucking love wild flag, though. these girls have to reunite......please!
@xPhantomPoopx oh hell yeah
the girl at 0:26 looks exactly like scully from the xfiles!!!
kick ass track by the way!
Carrie. She is simply perfect. I want to marry her. :)
you got to love a lady that plays an SG
Why aint the crowd JUMPING ?
f*ckin' valkyries...
there's also 1 guy on stage he repairs burnt guitars + the drums too
As an aspiring bass player im kind of offended doors ur to blame too
Do you still have the original files of this upload? Love to get a copy of them if possible.
Was this in NZ or Australia?
Sydney!
Australia
Where and when was this?
Late 90s idk where
scully @ 0:23
+luckythelab2 LOL
Why is the bass player off stage?
No bass player, the bass sound is from the way Corins guitar is tuned
Is this a bari guitar?
I see them jumpers @ 1:35 - yowzuh!!
You wanna see some jumpers, go straight to 1:35

Meh
What middle school band is this?
I love Carrie Brownstein and your three bands: Excuse 17, Wild Flag and Sleater Kinney
