In the Spring of 1986 I was 14. And this once 14-year-old was swept away by the beauty of Live To Tell. Its haunting beauty struck me like no other song that year.
Now we're just 24 hours from yet another new year, 2024. And later that year I'll turn 53. But the goosepimples and shivers this song gives me are just as real and vivid as they were when I was that teenager decades ago.....

@@nicolacasali8304 Crikey, the hours of my life I spent in HMV Oxford Street! It was pretty much my second home when I was a student. I have archive boxes full of 7 and 12 inch singles, and full albums on vinyl and CD.....and I reckon 80% of those were bought in that place. (Most of the remainder were from Woolies. I STILL miss that shop!)

As a boy, when Madonna came out, i was in love and later even had a few gfs who looked real close from time to time.
This song and its movie at close range are so touching and magical. Listening, its impossible not to think of better days before the internet which created and turned a population into pervs and freaks since its "ok" if its online and others do it too. The world became faceless and voiceless where you dont even need to memorize others phone numbers anymore like in the movie At Close Range when he made SURE to recall her number being in love, not asking twice.
That was an old trick not so long ago to show you cared. If you forgot a number, then she wasn't important or else you screwed up big time.
Sadly, I lived that movie out in a small town in KS. Same thing. Abusive step dad, brother and pieces of garbage for friends, living in the boons. its theraputic to watch the movie and listen to this. just makes me so happy inside yet so sad too at all thats been lost and gained since then. Thats life.
