The winter of 86-87 I was dellivering morning papers. Blasting Madonnas new True Blue album on my car stereo, more exensive than the car. In the middle of the night all alone, no one outside, drifting around with my Volvo 240 on the newly fallen snow. When that old music plays the memories returns.

Please hang in there honey, I lost my Jared 7 years ago, He went down south with a woman old enough to be his mother. And I thought that he was gay but he wanted me but only when I helped him out. I was devastated and even had Suicidal ideation for a whole year. But I made it and I am so much stronger. I still haven’t found the right man but I know he’s out there somewhere that will love me and treat me good.

ramiro time does heal all wounds !! You can’t see it when you are living in darkness. But it happens when you loose all hope. The despair will ease up first, then after that phase , comes healing and hope comes back also. Then you move on slow !! And then it’s a lesson learned !! And you feel so much better !! And the sun can shine on my face again !!

The 1980s was a power decade for the best music in all of musice history from Whitney to Madonna to Hall and Oates to The Police to all of them...too many to count and unforgettable. If I had to do it all over again, I'd pick the same year to be born to have been a teenager during this time, for the good and not so good!

I was born in 1977, I went through one hell of a lot in the eighties, Anorexia Nervosa from 18 months old, at the age of six I was put into a Child Physiatrics Unit for six months, that was tough, really tough! Missing six months of regular junior school played absolute hell with my mind & being reintroduced was a trauma in itself! But the music & the films of the eighties helped me through! It’s a battle I will never fully win! I have accepted that now, but then being diagnosed as having a degenerative Neurological Disease at the age of around twenty really put me into a dark place, but the music from the eighties helps. I was told by my Neurologist that it would be a miracle if I saw the age of forty, well I am now 44, so miracles do happen. On my second marriage (4 years today) so if you do make a few blunders at first it is possible to still meet “the one”. Take good care, good things do happen to good people eventually…

I never heard an extended version of this tune previously, and frankly was always curious how they would work this song in an extended track. When I saw the length of this version - 13.00 minutes I thought it is probably going to be some crazy remix and most likely will be another ruined version of a good song. To my joy I was very wrong and pleasantly surprised. This track is amazing, and really enhanced the original. It is saved into my playlist and the author has my gratitude for posting.

I have a tale to tell
Sometimes it gets so hard to hide it well
I was not ready for the fall
Too blind to see the writing on the wall
A man can tell a thousand lies
    I've learned my lesson well
    Hope I live to tell
The secret I have learned, 'till then
It will burn inside of me
    I know where beauty lives
I've seen it once, I know the warm she gives
The light that you could never see
It shines inside, you can't take that from me
A man can tell a thousand lies
    I've learned my lesson well
    Hope I live to tell
The secret I have learned, 'till then
It will burn inside of me
The truth is never far behind
    You kept it hidden well
    If I live to tell
    The secret I knew then
Will I ever have the chance again
If I ran away, I'd never have the strength
    To go very far
How would they hear the beating of my heart
    Will it grow cold
The secret that I hide, will I grow old
    How will they hear
    When will they learn
    How will they know
A man can tell a thousand lies
    I've learned my lesson well
    Hope I live to tell
The secret I have learned, 'till then
It will burn inside of me
The truth is never far behind
    You kept it hidden well
    If I live to tell
    The secret I knew then
Will I ever have the chance again
A man can tell a thousand lies
    I've learned my lesson well

This kind of music brings us back in times where Madonna and other singers of her level hadn't yet crossed the limits of decency. It was good music. Really. Nothing was agressive and provocative in their songs. They had something to say, to share and we could rely to it. Then arrived the provocative 'Justify my love' era.. and her need to shock and insult the good sense by selling her body as a sexual object 😔 Such a shame, such a beautiful and talented woman. I've stopped listening to her songs ever since.

    • @brianoneill7186
      @brianoneill7186 Před 2 lety +4

I liked her earliest hits, but she was 'provocative' as far back as 'Like A Virgin' and 'Material Girl', both of which I got tired of quickly. I overlooked this song at the time, but now see it as one of her all too rare great songs.

    • @calogerofanara837

@@brianoneill7186 Well, like a virgin and material girl have never been my faves at that time, in terms of lyrical content nor in its music arrangements. I think her best songs started in '86 with papa don't preach and live to tell. She had more wise things to say. There are also a few good ones in the Like a prayer album but she then soon got back into her provocative instinct, sadly. I don't judge her. I know something went wrong ever since she lost her mom at an early age but yet I couldn't follow her in this kind of vulgar and offensive way to fight for what she thought was a progress.

Exactly . In other words a total slut. Madonna laid the groundwork for the crass way women behave today. No morals, no values, no responsibility. She personifies everything that's wrong with femininity today. They just don't give 2 *** about men. They're so vindictive that if they see a man dying in the street with nobody to help they won't do anything about it. Madonna empowered women to behave like harlots. She basically said " go out take what you want and use your body to get what you want". Ok sure there are good women around but what maybe like 5% of the population. The rest are money hungry, sex hungry sluts. I have lost all respect for this generation of women. Total total disgrace to humanity.

    • @gregcosta6965
      @gregcosta6965 Před rokem

@@calogerofanara837 That's not "progress". That's an agenda of feminist hatred toward men. Madonna succeeded by manipulating men. Let's not forget it was Patrick Leonard who wrote all her hit songs. Without him she'd be nothing.

Powerful, majestic, timeless and genius writing and delivery. What a song, and perfect music to accent the powerful and tragic story acted by Sean Penn & Mary Stuart Masterson. Riveting and soul stirring. Can never turn this song off until it finishes. One of my favorite tunes from the 80s. It's a representative of when music seemed to really have a place in the very fabric of life events. I'm 59 now and can honestly say the 80s were a time when I seemed to reach a point in life when preparation began to meet potential. The music of that time period served as a scaffold or skeleton for the attachment of many life events, both major and minor. I had much less then in the form of money, possessions and most importantly responsibilities. I also had many more anxieties about what the future held but the "music" always had a way of providing relief and escape. I know you've heard it before but wish I could go back and do it again.I really miss it.

Back then it wasn't all crazy/happy/funny hair styles, etc.
It was the cold war then and always some fear of atom bombs/war.
