Spider-Man is one of the most beloved characters of all time, and for Tom Holland’s third solo movie as the web slinger, Marvel seemingly wanted to do something really special (while also tapping into the hype around multiverses.
Spider-Man: No Way Home definitely raises some questions though. Like since when is Doctor Strange this reckless? How does the memory wipe spell work, exactly? Why is Electro even here? Is Uncle Ben going to die? Why is Ned suddenly magic, and why did he stop trying to make portals? Why isn’t James Franco in this?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Spider-Man: No Way Home! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

@@bobono To be fair, as much as I do like Aunt May, she should have never been brought back from the great sendoff she had in _The Clone Saga_ or whatever comic book arc it was. So if they can kill her off without doing it for cheap shock value, I'm fine with it.
*Fans* - The loss of Hot May hit us all pretty hard.
*Marvel* - Uh, don't you mean Aunt May?

@@UJEvans when did he ever do that?
I'm calling it now: Nick Fury did not forget who Spiderman is, because he is "off planet" and the spell in the beginning of the movie stated "Everyone in the world forgot that Peter Parker is Spiderman" Since we never heard Strange say anything while incanting his spell, I'm just assuming it was the same as the first one.
At the same time though, when Peter was requesting the spell to Strange, he did make it clear that he wanted "everyone" to forget about him, which would include multi-versal beings and probably everyone in his universe. But ya never know, these movies always find a way
This seems like a small plot hole. None of these characters came searching for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. They came looking for the Peter Parker they knew. Wouldn’t this spell basically make everyone in all universes forget who Peter Parker is in every universe?
@@rui5421 I had the same thought after watching this Pitch Meeting. I'm wondering if that may open the door for a future recombination of the Spider Man's when they go back to a world that forgot each of them...

What they did with Toby and Andrew really exceeded expectations.
They did great. It really made me appreciate Andrew more. He was a great Spiderman. Didn't love the movies, but he was quite good in them anyway.
Yes, yes it did. I think we all expected cameos, or for them to come in, in the middle of the final battle or moments before it. They came in quite early and had big parts. It truly was a love letter to the fans.
It made me feel nothing. I kept asking why they’re here other than make fanboys go “EEEEEE!”

PLOT TWIST OF CENTURY!
Willem Dafoe is a great actor but his portrayal of the green goblin is phenomenal I mean it REALLY feels like the green goblin is an alternate personality of willem Dafoe and not just Norman osborn
I always loved how much he was such a psycho In the Raimi verse, hell bent on breaking spider-man and proving a point. I was so glad to see how he was written the same way In no way home and how ruthless he was.
I felt genuine sympathy for Norman, to the point that I could get on board with Aunt May trying to help him-- and then his turn to irredeemable psychopathy felt equally real.
The physical transformation is hugely pivotal but extremely understated. Anytime it is Norman Orborn, Willem DaFoe has fake teeth making his smile more “normal” looking but any time he switches to GG, he uses his normal teeth which are a bit more “crazy” looking. It is subtle but adds a lot.
I want him to play the Joker so bad.
Dafoe is a bad ass!@! love him
"Cashing in on nostalgia done right" god that is so true. I didn't even realised i was nostalgic for Maguire until he showed up. All the pisstake bits in the pitch are so accurate and yet it works anyway somehow.
3:03 Electro never saw Peter Parker's face, but he knew his first name was Peter because he heard Gwen call him by name.
Tobey was able to save Harry's dad and Andrew was able to save Peter's girlfriend. This movie didn't just redeem or give second chances to its villains but its heroes too. Just beautiful.
Also the subtle reference to Toby's "back injury" was genius. Only Marvel can bring up an issue that almost got Maguire replaced by Jake Gyllenhaal.
Which is ironic because they wouldnt have been there without Jake Gyllenhaal's mysterio

"Cashing in on nostalgia, but done right."
The only way to make a superhero movie.
Oh Cashing in on nostalgia is tight!
Even both of them fanboy-ing over Spider-men franchise. Wow, wow, wow, wow, the power of Disney Money is tight.
Also, next time: Spider Man Home Alone.
Uhh no
Tastefully
For me, Tobey Maguire coming through the portal was one of the best moments of 2022 so far! I only just watched No Way Home because I had to binge the Andrew Garfield ones to catch up 😁 BTW - I'm pretty sure if, after the forgetting spell, Peter spoke to Happy or any of the other surviving Avengers about who he was, they would probably believe him, given all the crazy stuff they've been through... Maybe that's what he'll do next?
"And then he gets staaBeD" 😂 I just love the comey in these pitch meetings
I didn't even stop to think about how "okay" this movie would be for someone who didn't grow up with all the other Spider-Man franchises. :D
I'm one of those people. I mean, I wasn't really interested in Spider-Man movies prior to the MCU, so I haven't watched any of those. Still, it was better than OK actually. But I felt a bit of a disconnect, when half of the audience cheered for things I was mostly clueless about.
My friend made me watch the Tobey MacGuire trilogy a couple months ago but I've never seen the Andrew Garfield ones so a few of those references went over my head. Seriously fun time tho
@@prof_hu I'd recommend it. The Raimi trilogy is really well-made, even though the third installment had its hiccups. And for the Webb trilogy, as you could probably tell from No Way Home, Garfield is a really good Spider-Man, even if the script wasn't always up to par.
Actually the story still work but the reference is not..
IS it okay even when seeing the first movies soo....

Writer Guy seems so jolly saying that 😂😂😂
I wasn't expecting how important the other Spiderman would be, definitely thought they would just be a cameo.
Awesome!
Exactly. I was pretty sure they were showing up. But the fact that they were a huge part of the movie blew my mind. It was like the twist had a twist.
I loved seeing them, but apart from a little piece of advice they added nothing to the story.
I was pleasantly shocked that they managed to be a large part of the story and each had their moments but it was still very clearly Tom’s movie. Loved the way they used andrew and Tobey
@@Adrian-dl9nb what? They added a lot. Tom got to see the 2 sides of being Spider-Man. In Tobey, he has more embraced the Peter Parker aspect. He made it work with MJ, he was just chilling in casual clothes and offers great wisdom. Andrew seemed to abandon the Peter Parker and embraced the Spider-Man persona. He got dark, stopped pulling punches, and all that. Now, tom showed that he will work in the middle ground and understand the consequences of going to far on either side. It was poetic how much they added to the story.
Plus Andrew’s redemption with saving MJ and Tobey being the one to stop Tom from killing the Goblin sounds pretty damn important to me
They gave us more than what we were expecting and hoping for. Anybody that was disappointed because they wished there was more is just plain greedy
I hope this becomes the most watched pitch meeting!
Oh, this becoming the most viewed Pitch Meeting would be TIGHT! 😁

It should be super easy, barely and inconvenience.

I think the impact of May dying is pretty strong since we’ve known her for three movies rather than just dying in the first. Just a thought.
actually the way she dies was kinda funny.
I didnt cared about this May dying. Yes, we have seen her 3 movies, but I never felt a true emotional connection to Peter, she was more his sexy milf roommate, than the mother figure May is supposed to be.
I was sadder when Tobey's May didnt got the toaster at the bank.
Yes!
I agree
I’ve always been bothered by May’s age in this series so, as heartless as it is to say, I’m not that sad to see her go.
Ryan is always strong, but I feel he tapped into another dimension to throw triple entendres in this one. This one is fire
"What was that jazz thing?"
"We don't talk about it"
🤣🤣
The producer somehow not having any clue about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield being previous Spider-Men was similar to a friend I have who knew nothing about them two being Spider-Men
My friend didn't even knew tom.
Guys, you probably need new friends.
Its hard losing friends, isnt it? Its ok, you did the right thing.
Wait producers really didn’t know
So ready for Moon Knight. I love the commentary on a guy talking to himself. 😆 🤣
This is an amazing pitch meeting. I love how Ryan made a twist and a little skit about the Producer guy hasn't watched the previous Spider-Man movies. Truly amazing! This is my favorite Pitch meeting now! Amazing job Ryan! I can't wait for the next one.

With all of its flaws, this is the best Spidey movie ever for me. The look on Andrew Garfield's face when he saved MJ was priceless.
Best scene in the movie.
I cried so hard. Happy tears, of course!
When I saw MJ falling in the Trailer I immediately wanted them to do EXACTLY that! I am very satisfied with it!
nah, spiderman 2 and into the spider verse are both a lot better. Spiderman 1 was also better.
I’m still deciding how I feel about it and I think it’s because I’m not big enough of a spidey fan to forgive its flaws so easily lol. I LOVED that part where Andrew Garfield caught MJ though. That was so special. ❤️
@@ceciliahorner2664 same. The movie was subpar. Dialogue were weak, spiderman's trademark humor was missing and Tom's acting missed a mark at some points. Amazing fan service though. They made a lot happen.
