- In this Video Corin Explains how to care for indoor bonsai. Although trees naturally grow outdoors these trees are not as hardy and some are sub-tropical species, therefore they can be grown indoors with enough light.

Thanks Hagrid! 😁 Great video, so much information. Easily the most concise and informative bonsai video on you tube. 👍
Happy Christmas Corin and family, and to all the Greenwood Bonsai Team.
Thank you for all the fantastic videos, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
I'm looking forward to many more in the coming year.
Have a good one!
Merry Christmas Corin! I appreciate (so so much) the fact that you talk about indoor bonsai. So many that do bonsai videos say you cant do indoor bonsai. Well I live in Canada and it's -36 today. Try having all outdoor bonsai when it gets that cold. If you could maybe do more videos on how to keep indoor bonsai happy (yes I realize outdoors is better for trees) I would be very thankful. I just dont have a choice here so some tips would be great!
A ver y thoughtful and timely video Corin. You may have saved many bonsais' this Xmas. All the best to you, Paul and the Greenwood team for the coming year.
Merry Christmas 🎄🎄 and thank you for your gift of videos from Greenwood Bonsai Studios . What a joy it has been to watch and listen and learn from you this past year. Sending you and your family "Tidings of Comfort and Joy, Health, Love and continued Success in the New Year!!!
Thanks Corin for that helpful tips. I've just recently bought Chinese Elm from your respective bonsai team and i am loving it. I am a happy customer. 👍 Looking forward to see it grow this coming spring.😁
Happy Christmas to you. Many thanks for all your videos. They have helped me enormously throughout the year.
Another fantastic insight into the world of bonsai 😜
Happy Christmas Corin and all at Greenwood. Thanks for your videos. Santa brought me a pair of your green handled scissors, so looking forward to giving them a workout. All the best for the coming year.
Corin, I received a baby (propagated Chinese elm) bonsai for Christmas, and once again, you had valuable tips on how to care for it. From America to the UK...hoping you have a stupendous Christmas!
Great video! Thank you so much this helped a lot. Great narration and communication I super appreciate it
Beautiful share my friend! Fantastic plants, nice 👍!
Happy new year to you! 🙏🌹
Excellent video and great timing! My brother got me a very nice Chinese Elm for Christmas, my mom gifted me some bonsai tools, and my brother in law gifted me The Complete Book of Bonsai by Harry Tomlinson!
The perfect video of how to keep your bonsai indoors.
Follow this advice and your bonsai will thrive for many years.
So helpful, very easy to understand for a novice Bonsai mum like me, Thankyou
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you sir.
I wish you Corin and your Fammily and all the Greenwood Bonsai-Team a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hug's from Germany. Thomas 🥰😃👍🏽
Merry Christmas to you and all at Greenwood.
Brilliant as usual.
Merry Christmas Greenwood Bonsai thanks for the videos that you do
Merry Christmas to you and yours Corin, Hope you have a great 2022 too 👍👍😎😎
Good tips. Liquid seaweed mixed in water is a great feed too…
Great points, thanks
Very good clear advice. 👌 👍
Thanks for initial clarifications.
From my experience its much more easy to kill a tree by over watering, than under watering
Well if this happens to you. Then you should check your soil. Is nearly impossible to over watering if your soil is correct. Always check root and soil when buying a tree. 😊
@@simontonsornchristiansen1588 I mix 50% perlite with 50% potting soil.
I dont like the grainy/rocky soil which you need to water every day
Thank you for the video brother :))))
Marry Christmas from California
Nice work congratulations...
Well said Sir!🙂
Merry Christmas 🎄
Very informative video as usual, thank you. Is that a Carhartt?
Buongiorno buon anno
Greetings, just found your channel a week ago, I like it. I'm a beginner and all that. I was wondering if you know anything about the Persian silk tree? I'm trying to grow one as a bonsai on a air pot. Any tips? Thanks.
I just was able to save my first bonsai. Dumb me didnt fertilize it for a few months lol
I just got my first bonsai 3 months ago…a gardenia. I am keeping it indoors and it’s doing great. Any tips for me?
Im really enjoying my Ficus tree
Hi,
Great video.. I just received my tree as a gift.. how to know what type of tree it is?? Thanks
What's the best compost for a Chinese elm could they grow in a mix of perlite, acadama and John Ennis number 3 this it what I use for my pines ..
Thanks for the very informative video. Can I leave a Bonsai pyracantha firethorn indoors in winter?
Ideally it wants to be outside. I have known them kept inside in a COLD environment, but they won't flower or suit reliably.
Are there any “don’t do” when choosing a pot? I have a ficus that I repotted into a deeper pot/plant stand to best utilize my west facing window area…
I heard you can keep chinese elm outside with protection. Last winter I kept mine inside but with about 6-14°C. This year I moved and could not overwinter under 20°C that's why I decided to overwinter it outside with protection of a fleece. Hope it will be able to survive.
As I mention, you can keep them cooler, but they need to get used to the cold. most sold in UK for xmas will be in leaf and have been kept warm, so best to continue that for the next few months. Putting them outside right away will not do them any good.
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio thanks for the information. Just started the video. Great content.
does Bonsai remain small or they grow and need repotting to bigger and bigger pots?
Thank you, I just got my first tree and Iam not watering enough.
Is there any kind of coniferous inside bonsai u would recommend?
👍🍎🍎👌
I have just received a Japanese Elm bonsai as a gift and I was wondering if they were similar to Chinese Elms? Can you keep them inside like you can with a Chinese Elm? Thanks!
Its probably a Chinese Elm mis-labelled. Other wise its a genuine Japanese Elm ( which is a zelkova) - out door tree complete different.
My carmona bonsai fukiern tea trunk has turned green what can I do?
Hoping my bonsai holds on a few years till I can buy a house with a conservatory for it
I have my Ginsing Ficus in a pot with drainage holes with Bonsai soil….it’s a little harder to tell when the soil is dry mainly due to it not technically being soil, but lava rock, clay etc so how often should I water it?
I'd water it when you can see the surface has started to dry out.
I have recently been given a Carmona bonsai for Christmas, any tips please? 🙂
Unfortunately they are the hardest indoor bonsai to keep. In fact we don't sell them due to that. They need to be warm and humid, well watered with plenty of light. They can get upset very easily. So don't take it personally if you struggle with it.
I normally use some type of Bonsai soil like Akadama or Kanuma. But I see that you have what looks like a type of potting soil. What medium is that?
They are imported from China in a type of coir compost
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio Thanks for the response. Is that better than gravel?
are uv lamps good for these little trees too?
my kitchen window is south facing but its not very big can hardly fit a Shohin 😅
We don't use lights but you'd need full spectrum day lights I think
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio thanks
Can you recommend how frequently do you fertilise bonsai trees using liquid fertiliser it's so inconsistent on the internet so much confusion and so much contradiction some say once a week some say every two weeks some say every month in the growing season can you give any advice ?? Thanks
That is why we favour a granular fertiliser, as it feeds more consistently for better results. We use Naruko, Phosmag or Bio Gold
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio thank you for reply...all the best
All my lafes are going brown I. keep in in the Liverroom at 15 to 20 F
More light and probably more water needed
What time of year is best to repot an indoor bosai?
You can do them now without issue
Could you upload your videos rumble?
Closest I have to compair with a Chinese elm is a Calamodin, due to it grows as well in southern China.
Biggest problem I have with this tropical citrus indoors during winter in my heated house is keeping the humidity up.
Do you ship your plants? I’m located in Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦😊
The tree I got told me not to put in sunlight why did it say that ?
Its incorrect advice, usually they say that to make the tree less demanding, but it will be better in sunlight but you need to keep it watered
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio thank you
All my leave s are going brown
The more I see the standard bonsai S-shaped trees, the more I find it doesnt look natural. I think I prefer a natural Y-shape
Keep an eye out for new vid coming soon
This Weekend. !!
Thank you!@@greenwoodbonsaistudio
Japanese created Bonsai .
