Yes, it’s a new .40S&W in the Generation 5 with an added 3oz to the slide weight and being wider requiring a wider lower to fit the slide. Plus, the recoil spring was increased to a 20lbs system vs the 18lbs in all the previous generation as they were a 9mm system. As I shoot heavier per caliber, 147gr in 9mm (G19/4) compared to 180gr in the new G23/5, I noticed very little difference except a little heavier punch to the hand, with great follow-ups. The width of the grip in the Gen5 helps a lot and very little difference, if any, in the actual recoil. Shooting any grain less than 155gr might not function the slide as those were weak ejections that I had hitting me in the arm and hat. I love this G23/5 as my carry platform. I placed AMERIGLO CAP (Lumi-Grn) sights and I love them out to 25yds. I also run AlienGear holsters (not Kydex but Polymer Blend) and in the half-shell configuration I can holster my G19/4 and the G23/5 with no problems in the same holster. Also, Just-Holster-It manufacture makes good holsters for the G23/5 as well when I run the TLR-8G. Many holster manufactures have yet to recognize the increase in width of the Glock 40s. If I were to get an extended barrel it would be for the .357SIG and never a 9mm.
I’m more of a 9mm guy but the G22.5 and G23.5 are great pistols. I picked up a G22.5 and am really impressed by how it shoots. The extra few oz in the slide really makes it shine.
I agree my G27 is a snappy little guy but it's grown on me and very accurate and very concealable. The Red Dot is definitely improved my accuracy and hitting targets at longer distances . Awesome. Keep em coming. Peace and blessings.
I have the same gun. Urban Carry is my favorite holsters but Safariland makes a nice OWB holster too. I know some people may not agree with the way the Urban Carry G3 is but it's without a doubt the most comfortable holster I've ever owned.

JM custom kydex makes EXCELLENT AIWB holsters. He has them for the G22.5 and G23.5.
