I like the original true color of the beams. If your first thought was to stain them, you could have gone with any cheap-o kind of wood. Let them age on their own.

We enjoy watching your videos. You work hard and do a terrific job. Your positive attitude and the love and care all you all show to each other is inspiring. What a great idea for an apple collector! Looks like Olivia has a job. When I watch your videos I have the extra bonus of listening to my husband yell at you when you use the impact drill as a hammer. He often has advice, but I find most of the time that others have commented already. Today his biggest concern is sealing the workshop floor to help keep down the dust and make it easier to clean. Covering the insulation foam on the ceiling is important, too. It will be cleaner because dust and cobwebs will cling to the foam and it will be difficult to brush off the foam without damaging it. Of course, you have to consider the cost of everything you do. It’s easy for us to sit back and comment.

Enjoyed the video Al. Nice pasture. The extra tall post will make great places for Bluebird houses. Good winter project to do with scraps from the barn. If Olivia is interested in building that would be a great teaching project for Dad & Daughter.
You can use rigid foam board insulation for your garage door. It's an easy project. Just don't use thicker foam than your brackets on the door. The shop is turning out nice. I really like the beams exposed. The pine on the walls will look great. Great idea on the wood stove warming cabinet and back splash. Glad you saved it. Y'all take care and God bless.

Hi Al....Not a fan of the two-tone look. I would keep it is simple as possible. Also gives more of an authentic historic appearance in my opinion. We have post and beam here in Colonial Jamestown and their interior exposed wood and trim are of one shade. Of course the walls are natural daub. Just my vote but I am a historic authenticity advocate..

    • @CRuf-qw4yv

@@donaldmiller8629 Post and beam is a very old construction method going back to 17th century Jamestown, Plymouth colony, and even earlier Tudor and Shakesperean England among others. I am merely saying if you wish to capture the uniqueness of that style, it would be neat to replicate it in the way the originals were done. That is why many people elect to build reproduction homes and other structures. Seems to me that if Al and Gina were not interested in having something with a little charm, they would have just built one of those "modern" metal barns without all the expense and time it took to build a classic.
