- In 1963, Jacques Cousteau lived for 30 days in an underwater laboratory positioned on the floor of the Red Sea, and set a world record in the process. This summer, his grandson Fabien Cousteau broke that record. Cousteau the younger lived for 31 days aboard the Aquarius, an underwater research laboratory nine miles off the coast of Florida. In a charming talk he brings his wondrous adventure to life.

its sad that if he grew up in this day and age, his teacher and a doctor would probably diagnose him with ADHD
and medicate that curiosity out of him.

***** Agreed! It genuinely pisses me off that even children themselves are aware they have such 'issues'. "I have ADHD" "My mom and doctor said I will never be able to read and write." I am a high school teacher and I have been presented with this problem by parents and the school itself. When a kid once told me that she would always stay like that, I got mad inside and decided to give a 'sermon' to her that she must never listen to anything like that. I told her there are ways to change things, I told her there are ways to practice in order to minimize her problems. I told her if you think what you are, you will be what you are. I taught her a few tips and tricks. In the days that follow, she told me she never did I what told her. Why? Because she feels conditioned that she will be stupid forever, thanks to authority figures like doctors and parents (who have given up!!) who told them so. I decided that I would talk to her parents about this during a parent-teacher meeting. Her parents didn't show up at all. How can teachers help their children when the parents aren't contributing at all? It's just sad.
I'm not going to watch the video but I can sum up the basic synopsis of it. "I learned from spending 31 days underwater that air is super fucking important."

It's a science project, but I also see it as a holiday in the most beautiful place in the earth which is the ocean.
I had the pleasure of meeting Faiben myself 2 years ago at Beneath the Sea a scuba diving convention he was a great person too.
I like this guy. Can't imagine living under water though.

Hopefully, there won't be future underwater cities. Yes, thanks to science we found out some interesting things toward marine life and awful things such as pollution of oceans, but : Is there any limit in invading the nature ?

hm, underwater cities sound similar to living on mars/other planets to me... meaning that there's just no real point in it at this time. but of course i may be mistaken and underwater cities would actually contribute to something, like for instance drastically increasing the number of people realizing the importance of bio-mass and diversity in the oceans and therefore become active against the unsustainable over farming of them. although i hope that it doesn't require underwater cities for that realization...

I think he means in writing rather than reading. When most people teach handwriting, it's catered to right-handed people, so sometimes we lefties get letters like b and d mixed up when we're learning to write. (If you're right-handed) think of the motion you use to print a lower-case d. Now think of mirroring that motion with your left hand. You just printed a b. For little kids just learning to write, it can be very difficult, and they can be diagnosed as "dyslexic" even though they have no problem reading.
It is almost criminal not to mention that he has been influenced by his grandfather and his great inventions.

Just think what the artificial light would do to those creatures and habitats that he loves - not to mention the sewage, noise and garbage, along with the constant coming and going of people and supplies. The above surface activity that would be needed to support those below the surface. All the boats, mini-subs, and other watercraft. And WiFi for emergencies I'd assume but also so everyone can watch netflix and send selfies to the surface. WiFi is radio waves and would totally interfere with many animals who make the water their home. Think those strange mass-beachings are bad now. Man does not need to colonize the oceans.
I just hope they'll call it Project Rapture
