Please be careful forming an oversupply! I started trying to after watching a bunch of freezer stash videos and then when my baby stopped wanting to latch correctly because she was getting a fire hose of milk with every let down, i felt terrible. I did more research and found out not only can creating a huge oversupply cause forceful milk ejection that can lead to issues, it can cause a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance that upsets their tummies and causes growth issues. This isn’t the case for everyone, but I would hate for it to happen to another mama and baby!
Irrelevant for Exclusively Pumping Moms
Thanks for the warning! It’s so tempting to make an oversupply seeing all of the freezer stash
This is true. I work with lactation consultants and heard this straight outta her mouth.
Happened to me
Hey thanks for sharing ur journey...should we be giving more gap between sessions for more milk supply coz all I heard from other was pump more frequently
So glad i found this! Im currently 2.5 months into my pumping journey and was more focused on trying to lose weight and it shot my supply because i wasnt eating or drinking enough :( listening to you explain your routine and saying its okay to eat gave me the courage to pick up the snacks! My husband tells me at the end of the day baby comes first! Thank you ❤
Fuel your body! Everything else can work itself out later. You’re doing the best you can and you’re the best mama for that sweet baby. ❤️
Very useful and informative video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
This is one of the best videos I’ve watched on increasing supply. I’ve watched countless videos and not only are the tips great but we are actually so SIMILAR minus the over supply but hopefully my supply increase after these tips ❤️
Thank you!! I am so happy to hear these tips and tricks are helping others. There’s so many ways to do things, but this is just my personal input. ❤️
I will never forget the intensity of hunger and thirst I had after I had my firstborn and I was pumping for her. It really is SO important. You need to sustain yourself and create food for another living being! I say no diets. Just fill yourself with electrolytes and nourishing foods like healthy proteins and fats.
I was ALWAYS hungry. Refueling is so important!
Here watching this again! I commented a few months ago. I am now 33 weeks pregnant. I am planning to pump at least 100 oz a day and store/deep freeze enough milk within the 1st 6 months to feed baby for an entire year. I can't find much information about any potential issues with doing this. I heard you say you did this for your first son because when you got pregnant your 1st son was about 6 months old. I am hesitant to mention my plan to a doctor or peiactrician.
You got this! Find me on instagram @katiebelislowry so we can connect! I had a deep freezer I stored everything in. I really am going to work on a new video that shows HOW we stored the extra milk and kept it organized! It's top of my to-do list. I've had many requests.
I only pump 44-50oz a day and I could very likely stop at 6 months and get to a year np. I've stashed 890oz in the first 44 days
@rizzlig How much milk did you end up being able to pump?
2000-3000 additional calories? That honestly sounds like so much
That's like a steak and a couple of hamburger patties. Easy peasy 😘 good luck mama ❤️
What if I am already 3 weeks postpartum? How to increase supply? I’m currently under supply with my second child as I was too tired during the first 2 weeks to pump 3 hourly… I used to be an oversupply for my first child.
I just did this! June 2020 and November 2021!
Woot woot! It’s a lot of work, right?!
5:03, your welcome!
You're amazing
Same story as you! Was young and didn’t even consider it with my first ! Now four babies later I bf all of my babies ❤❤❤❤
Woo!! That is awesome. Crazy isn’t it?!
I noticed that app is only for Apple. Do you know if there is a comparable android one?
I am emailing the developer right now to see if there's an app available yet for Android. I made this video a year ago and I'm hoping there's another option for you! Game changer, in my opinion!
I emailed the developer and, unfortunately, they are only available for Apple still.
Thankyou so much for checking. I am sure I can find something similar!
Just a heads up, if your capacity doesn’t allow for this, absolutely nothing you can do will get you to oversupply. Capacity is entirely out of your control, and if you’re not already at a capacity that allows for this, you’re SOL.
Yep, it might not work for everyone, but these are some tips to try even to increase supply … not necessarily to even create over supply. Breastfeeding might not work for everyone.
I can only pump for 5 mins due to lack of milk..must i still continue pumping even if nothing is coming out?
I only pump until I’m “empty”. I don’t keep pumping after that. I highly suggest increasing your fluid intake. Drink lots of water!
How long do you pump for at each session?
I was pumping for 15-17 minutes or until they felt emptier, but then initially tried to cut back when I was ready to wean.
Just like breasts adjust to longer time between pumping, they also adjust to baby having a little amount and then not having to be pumped out. I’ve nursed 5 kids for 4-5 years each, my first kid I leaked a bunch for a few months, second kid I leaked for about 2 weeks, third kid and so forth I never leaked at all. Your body knows how to adjust, just like you talked about at the end. And flange size has nothing to do with breast size, it’s about the size of your nipples and doesn’t relate to being big breasted or small breasted.
“I straight up lied” 😂
Haha I did! I felt such shame!! So...I lied HA. Whoops - glad I can be honest about it now though.
Here is how I stored all that breast milk! czcams.com/video/mmUuqeApkDQ/video.html
Coolers work too :)
Ahh!! Refrigerate the parts🤯 time saver
Someone shared that tip with me and I was MINDBLOWN. Definitely a great tip!
I pump for 25 minutes 6 -7 times a day and I only get 9 ounces a day 😢
This is exactly 💯 me and I bought lots of breast milk storage bags 😂😂😂😂😂
What do u do with ur extra milk?
I bag it, store it and freeze it! I was diagnosed with cancer last year when baby Quinn was 4 months old so I am beyond grateful I had so much stored. I had to abruptly stop breastfeeding, but because I had so much stored I was able to give him breast milk until he was 10 months old. It was a blessing. When I was overproducing with Trace before that, I had so much stored that I sold it to a milk bank for baby's in the NICU. It was a long process to qualify for that though. e
@@lowryloft5831 wow, i couldn't imagine being diagnosed with cancer and having a 4 month old. U r so strong mama! I have high lipase so my baby won't eat the 300oz I had frozen 😩
😂@@lowryloft5831
awesome you didn't tell us to eat/drink those teas and cookies. the stuff in there makes my baby really gassy and uncomfortable. thanks for the advice
I think my biggest takeaway is … lots and lots of fluids! 100 ounces of water a day is vital and I would drink some Body Armor in there too.
Hey thanks for sharing ur journey...should we be giving more gap between sessions for more milk supply coz all I heard from other was pump more frequently
I eventually had to create bigger gaps and pump less. Initially, it made me feel engorged but after 2-3 days of changing my pumping sessions, my body adjusted. I went from pumping 7 times a day (which included nighttime), down to 6, down to 4 (hardest jump I made and totally necessary so I could stop getting up at night and it allowed me to space out my day more). It took some time to do these modifications tho! Didn’t happen overnight.
@@lowryloft5831 thankyou for taking time to reply yes I have moved to 5 sessions for now with a 3.5 month baby with kind people like you I have gained lot of knowledge and started pumping for a concept which is not common in my place.
