How to empty soda cans with hidden hole. (air-filled cans) Pop Can Collecting

- A lot of us collect those cool soda cans but eventually they all leak and make a mess in our collection space. The best way is to make them into “air-filled cans” meaning we empty them without an obvious puncture. Here’s a video showing you how to do it!

@@bigv6724 thats what she said
One time on vacation as a kid, my dad bought me a box of soda cans that you couldn't just buy anywhere. I was so happy that I kept them for special occasions. The less cans I had left, the more special the occasion had to be. I still have two cans left. They expired in '09 and amazingly one of the cans still holds the soda to this day.
The old cans actually hold out much better. I never had a leak issue before, until the Star Wars Episode 1 cans. Those were the first cans I had leaking, and every other cans I collect will eventually leak in 2-5 years. I also found out that cans that has been put in a fridge will leak faster than cans that has never been chilled.
Just found out the hard way that they start leaking after a few years. Thanks for the videio.
Yeah man, I found out the hard way to many times....
Wait they leak after a few years?

@MrHolyKindness you're telling me! I've had to move twice with my collection and at this point I just leave them packed up. And yeah, I have been doing this for a while. Some of my older bottles used to get mold build up, but Ive sprayed them down many times.
@MrHolyKindness fuck it that's a great idea! :D keep an eye out for that in the future. ;)
@MrHolyKindness it would be quite the lengthy boi, so idk if I'll be able to record it on CZcams. I'll figure something out in a bit, so subscribe and follow my twitch to see. :D
@MrHolyKindness look, I make videos almost purely for my own amusement. If people don't like my content they can go watch someone else. I like to have a wide range of content, and I have soda reviews from years ago on there so it wouldn't be that out of the ordinary.

1:35 that "hole punching tool" is called an awl. Punching/enlarging holes is literally its designed function, but it has a name.
this is one of those things I wouldn't be able to tell you if you asked me, but as soon as I read it I remembered hearing about it before. Funny how that stuff works.
@@elijahbielefeldt-cada6639 i run into stuff like that all the time, I'll know what I'm trying to describe but not the name of it. Happens for me with people and names too. I just grew up working in the garage with my father though, and did a bunch of different trades work/study in my teens and early 20s. Pretty familiar with just about any kind of hand/power tool you'd find in a normal garage or woodshop, and then some. Now I'm fascinated when i discover a tool I've never seen or used before, i immediately want to know what it's for and how its designed to be used. It's handy to know the proper name and function of basic tools, i think it's something everyone should be taught in school as a self-sufficiency skill. They're taking woodshop out of a lot of school systems, it's not as common as it used to be. It's unfortunate

Technically a firearm is a "hole punching tool" too. Can I call my pistol an awl? 🤣😬
@@DeliciousVicious777 i mean my fist or a stick or a bowling ball or a car or whatever is a "hole punching tool" depending on how you use the object and how specific or vague you decide that description is. You sir are one weird dude. I like it !
Suggestion; When punching the hole, do it with the can upside down. This way you do not lose a substantial amount of air which will be very useful to push out the soda.
There is going to be air inside the soda regardless.. do you mean pressure from the carbonization?
@@johngallagher9151 Yes, the air inside is pressurized. So once you let it out, there's less air.
Or even easier he could have used an automatic center punch tool but with the tip of that tool sharpened so it would be a one handed punch when upside down but pre heating the can under some hot water
Will make quite a mess tho
I now have the need to pee
That's actually a good experiment with the relationship of temperature and air. This man is right, as temp increases, air expands and (only in a container) creates more pressure on the sides.
In the air however, hot air creates low pressure since it expands out and up.
There is no air in a can bro. CO² or nitrogen.
