Thanks Dave. Your the best. I always watch your vids to make sure I don't screw something up.
Hi, Your welcome
Hope crank arms are really nice a little pricey. On my trek rail I went with the FSA 155mm crank arms only cost me $27.00. I think one of my better upgrades. Your videos are very helpful.👍
Thanks for watching, Thanks, please subscribe
Excellent upgrade for my Rail 9.8 XT. I bent the stock E13 cranks. The Hope crankset is noticeably stiffer. Top quality kit. Worth the $$$
What offset did you choose, please?
Thanks for sharing, sorry for the late reply, standard offset.
@@Infoshare2012 standard should be 55mm as per spec.
Great vid. This prompt me to purchase an orange Hope 155mm. 21 Levo Comp. Im tired of pedal strikes. Even with great techniques pedal strikes on my 165mm cranks was inevitable. "Hope"fully I will have less pedal strikes
There is nothing worse than pedal strikes, They can be dangerous and off putting.
Great video. *Question Please* What is the reversible torque wrench you used to torque up the AMAZING Hope cranks to 50NM please? Is it the Halfords Advanced Torque Wrench Model 100 488703. I see they have several different models.
PS Love the new shop plus your videos are extremely helpful.
Nice one dave
Thanks for showing which end of the crank puller.
Hi, thanks for watching and your comment.
Love watching somebody work from such a distance you can’t actually see what the hell they’re doing.
Hi Thanks for watching and your comment, sorry
Interesting and useful video! But! 50mn torque on a pedal is nuts! 😮
I wish i had a bikeshop like this around the corner
Thank you
Great video! 👍
Looking to do a 155 set on my 9.8 Rail. Stock 165 is ridiculously low and hits everything in the rock gardens here in Southern California. Just to confirm fit & finish good. Any issues long term with em?
Thanks.
Hi, Thanks for watching and your comments. They are a good addition to you ebike, no issues at all.
Great video! What is the crank puller Park Tool model to use for the Bosch Gen 4 Line CX motor? From what I've seen, not all crank puller are compatible... Thanks!
Hi, Thanks for watching, the tool is a birzman, www.birzman.com/products_2.php?uID=2&cID=46&Key=311
By the way would you know if a 2019 trek power fly battery will fit the trek rail they both have the rib battery. Also both the 500wh . I did look on internet but could not find answer. Thanks
Hi, this will help you www.hopetech.com/_repository/1/documents/E-BIKECrankFitmentDiagram_web.pdf
Hi Dave question trek rail do I need to replace just the crank arms or the full crank.
To stop arm falling off?
Hi, just the crank arms.
Hi, I love your channel and always refer to it when I need info so great work 🙌🏼.
I have a question for you if you can help please. I have the trek 9.8xt with the e-thirteen crankset on a Bosch gen 4. So which park tool crank arm removal tool do I need to remove them? TIA
Hi, Thanks you, you need this, Park Tool CWP-7 - Crank Wrench and Puller
Brilliant and appreciate your time and loving the series excellent work 🙌🏼
Hi, great vids👍🏼 I have just fitted these to my rail 7 the non drive seems fine but the drive side is not flush to the chainring, there is a 5mm or so gap. They went on fine and I've taken them back off to make sure the spline was clean. All looks ok apart from the gap. Any ideas?
Hi, Thanks for watching, can you send me a photo of the gap, dave@cycle-fast.co.uk
Just asked my boy to take a pic as I'm currently in work
Hi Dave, back in January when you did the wheel speed build, you said that you would be posting more on different ways of building wheels on a more detailed, step-by-step basis. Any chance of these coming up in the near future?
Please keep posting, I really enjoy all your videos.
Hi Martin, I don't this so i'm afraid. Iv'e been wheel building for many years and it's taken many years of practice. You may know we build for a well known bike manufacture and wheel building is just something I want to keep in house, hope you understand.
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic No problem, I just admired your skill on the speedbuild.
Lost my crank bolt on the non drive side lickily at the end of the ride and the crank fell off! Should ot not have fell off if a crank removal tool was needed? Thanks in advance
Thanks for watching and your comments
Great video. Will the narrow fit Hope cranks also fit a 2021 Rail 9 please?
Hi, Thanks, You will find this document useful www.hopetech.com/_repository/1/documents/E-BIKECrankFitmentDiagram_web.pdf
Is it 50 nm on all Bosch CX gen 4 motors or just for this cranks, I've got mine at 33nm, I mine was 8nm on the right side according to my snap on rectangle torque wrench.. I only was alerted because it was clicking. Cheers Dave.
Thanks for your comments
Morning dave, just went to change my cranks on my ebike. The drive side RH came off easy but the LH side is solid, any ideas to remove it? Scared I break the thing.
Hi, they can be very difficult to remove, often needing a large breaker bar.
A up Dave ...nice vid as usual ....What’s your opinion on the Bluetooth pressure caps ? .......any chance you can show us one in situ ? 👍👀
Hi, You mean tyre pressure caps
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic yep ….saw them the other day , thought they were quite nobby …..
Hi Dave. Great video as always. Is it necessary to have a special adapter to mount the Hope beak?
Hi, Thanks for watching and your comments, not sure what you mean
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic hope crank tool, like 8mm hex star. No i saw you use just classic 8mm hex :)
Ahh I see, hope ebike cranks only need an 8mm hex key to install, to remove a non self extracting crank you will need the crank tool
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic thank you very much, you´re the best ! in any case, I will order it for service in the future just to be sure. hopefully by installing hope cranks i will stop losing race face cranks on trails :D
Hi, no special tools needed
Great vid. My cranks have just arrived but they are not marked left/right as you mentioned? Not mentioned in the enclosed instructions either?
Hi, sorry, I'm sure they are marked, use the pedals to find out which crank arm is left or right
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic Sorry, I tried to delete this question. I’ve noted on the exploded view that the drive side is marked 12 and non-drive 13.(standard fit)
Hi Dave, am I correct in thinking that if I were to fit 155mm cranks the Bosch gen 4 would need an update to recognise the difference in pedalling torque.
Cheers John 👍
Hi, No, the motor recognises the amount of torque no matter what the crank lengths are
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic cheers Dave. I'd read that a calibration was needed. Went with Hope 165mm anyway. Thanks for the reply, appreciated 👍
is it possible to use these on non electric bikes? Some kinda spider for a 2x chainring?
Hi, Thanks for watching, sorry no, ebike motors have the same fitting on both sides.
Hmm I was thinking getting those pedals off again will be fun and I checked HOPE's website, according to their instructions the pedals should be tightened between 35 - 40 Nm not 50 like the crank.
Well spotted thanks for watching
My wife is from Yorkshire. She’s got an E by eck bike
Can she make yorkshire puddings?
Shouldn't it have some loctite on the crank arms?
Mine kept coming loose so cleaned it all off loctite and never came loose again. No issues at all
Hi thanks for watching, you shouldn’t need loctight on hope crank arms that are really well made
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic just ordered some Hopes. After typing that last message today my Srams came loose im sick of it i think they must be knackered! Hoping the Hopes stay put.
So bit of grease and 50NM on the hopes and I should be good?
Great content. Subbed.
What is that neoprene wrap around the frame?
Hi, its a downtube protector www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Universal-Built-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B07656Y8QM/ref=asc_df_B07656Y8QM/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310135571037&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10714008303609958663&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046666&hvtargid=pla-586884752627&psc=1&th=1&psc=1
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic Thank you for replying!!! Im going to get it now!!!!
How do you take em off ?...Thanks
You mean the old ones or the new ones
Can you put these on a normal bike?
Hi, Thanks for watching and your comments, sorry no
I "Hope" they make some for shimano
So do I, not sure why not, could be a licence issue
Why would you need to change these?
Hi, Thanks for watching, good question, They are a bit lighter, better made I feel, but the main thing is they look super cool and you can get them in colours, Thats it really.
Having fit carbon cranks to a non ebike the difference in stiffness as really obvious. If these are stiffer it will be noticeable
Because they're Hope and their stuff is top notch and their customer service is legendary 🙂
@@timvarley8589 I cant imagine something so substantial not being stiff!
My thoughts too. Just on appearance only I wouldn't want to spend significant money, there would have to be a noticeable physical gain.
