the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. czcams.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
With lots of resin, sure. Thanks
Jim, Jim, Jim. I have run out of words that describe your artistic talents. The black walnut bowl is AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL & SPECTACULAR all in one. Be well
Same to you! Thanks
Man those walnut shells were so cool in there. The different colors that wound up in the "faces" were awesome. Can't forget Designer Epoxy.
Thanks for watching
Absolutely, this is your most beautiful and unique piece yet. You have to definitely make a Halloween piece utilizing these walnut shells and use pumpkin orange with a dark charcoal colors.
Yes, it would be perfect for that. Thank
I’m not going to lie… at first glance I couldn’t decide if I liked this or not. After watching the video I have fallen in love with it.
Thanks 😊
Can you believe I saved a bucket of walnut shells just in case I decided to get into resin pouring? Wow! From the looks of what you created, I just may have to go ahead and do it!
You should, thanks!
Happy Friday! Wow, what a beautiful piece Jim! I wish my husband would secretly commission something from you, I'd cherish it forever!
Thank you very much!
Those walnut shells are like eye candy. Visually stimulating and an attention grabber. Looks very cool, even without seeing all of the purple.
Agreed, thanks
What a beautiful piece. You make it look so easy.
Thank you! 😊
Look forward every week to see what you make, I think this one is one of your best. Can't wait to see what you do next using designer epoxy.
Thank you very much!
Who would have thought walnut shells would come out such interesting and beautiful shapes. I will vote this is one of your most beautiful pieces. Because of the walnuts and the colors of the resin
Thanks 😊
This is John from NYS. When I found the empty shells in my fire wood pile I thought it would be good material for a bowl or vase. Then I had to send them to you because I knew with your creativity and being the Master you are the product would be great and one of a kind.
Thanks
John
I do really appreciate it, send me more, I’ll cover the shipping! Lol. Went looking for your email and couldn’t find it to let you know the video was happening this week. Thanks again!
Love the interaction of the colors and the waterfall effect.
Thank you!
Designer Epoxy! I loved this piece! It is absolutely stunning and beautiful! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thank you! Cheers!
Just beautiful, Jim! Glad I got to take part in the live chat 😊
See you next Friday! Thanks
You see faces, I see monsters, it is so cool. Nature is fascinating. Great video.
Thanks for watching!
An Absolutely Awesome Vase Jim, Sandra is a very lucky lady to have a hubby who thinks to get something like this made just for her. Hope she really enjoys it
Thanks for watching!
Another great masterpiece. Love the faces that appeared as a result of the turning. Again, job well done.
Thank you very much!
When I saw the thumbnail I thought "how did he get those glyphs in there?" but I'm obsessed by writing systems. It's one of those things where you can see what you want. So cool.
It truly is, thanks!
I think it would be incredible to fill the shells with resin in blue, green, red, orange and purple, then cast them in yellow for turning! 😍 or something like that. This gorgeous and I see the purple! So incredible!
This was my original idea, but the shells were bit up too bad for that to be done. If they were halves, that would of been perfect. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful piece, absolutely love the images the black walnut shells creates. Very magical piece ❤ designer epoxy
Thanks 😊
This piece is so cool. You're right, I could stare at it for hours 🤩
You and me both! Thank you very much!
Designer Epoxy. I have seen many variations of embedded stuff like seeds, pods, and nuts, but this piece is exceptional. It is truly a work of art that I could look at repeatedly and appreciate it anew every time. I hope you have the opportunity to make a similar piece for yourself.
Me too, lol. Thanks!
This is definitely an amazing piece. Looks like something historic and oriental.
Thank you very much!
I always think you can't top a stunning piece you made and then you do! OMG that falls into my top three pieces of your work. So yes please, use walnut shells again. Congratulations on such an exceptional piece. 🤩
Thank you very much!
The shells make such a unique pattern. This is an outstanding piece. What a fortunate recipient.
Thanks for watching!
That had to be the funkiest, coolest thing I've ever seen! I love watching the designs you make with Designer Epoxy. Some of those colours are just spectacular, and the items you make with it are amazing!
Thank you very much!
You turned on the dust collecter, I can't even tell. This is one of the best pieces you have done!
If your volume was higher you would, lol. Thanks
My favourite colour combo! I love how the purple has filled in the shell voids with the waterfall green swirling around the shapes. An incredibly crazy cool final look, I am with you there on that description, Jim! I definitely look forward to seeing more walnut shell pieces in the future 😍
Thanks so much 😊
Oo +1! Definitely psyched to see more walnut shell pieces!
One suggestion from Farmer John from Ontario: Since most of the visible nuts are towards the outside, putting the chamber on a slow turntable during the early part of the cure would spin all the nuts to the outside rather than being wasted or cored out in the middle. That would entail an alternate power arrangement for your chamber if it's continually powered, or else powering the chamber and spinning it alternately ... there would be a key time in the resin set where a quick spin would do it ... might not work for a two colour pour ... John
Haven’t heard from you in a while, welcome back! Don’t think this method would work like you say with a two color pour. Thanks for watching!
First you have to get more empty black walnut shells and that requires making a contract with squirrels. Not easy to negotiate with.
This is probably the coolest looking project you have done! The color and the faces! OMG
Thank you very much!
that's magical... I love it ... I especially love that squirrels had their way with the nuts first...
Got to feed the wildlife first 😜😜 thanks!
Fascinating to watch you create these unique works of art. Combining the walnut shells with the resin resulted in another masterpiece.
Thanks 😊
The piece is amazing and the color choice really complements the black walnuts.
Thanks!
I wasn't sure about the walnuts at the start, but I was delightfully surprised! Beautiful piece (as always)!
Thank you very much!
Absolutely gorgeous. I hope you get more nut shells in the future, not only black walnut, but other nut shells as well. A mixture of shells could possibly make even more striking patterns.
Thank you very much!
This looks amazing! Definitely one of the coolest things you've made, I think.
I think so too! Thanks
You make it look so easy, I know there's a lot of experience and time behind you. Just the confidence you have in choosing materials and colors, really inspiring. Love this finished project.
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
That is one of the most unique projects you ever made.
I think so too, thanks!
What a beautiful piece!! We are surrounded by walnut trees and what an interesting way to use the shells.
I’ll take a garbage bag of black walnut shells when the squirrels are done with them, lol. Thanks for watching!
I look forward to Friday for your weekly project and you never disappoint! Another beautiful piece.
Thank you so much!
I used to see walnuts and chestnuts on the ground while walking to school as a child. Never would have imagined they could be made into something like this! Looks like abstract art. Beautiful.
Thanks for watching!
That’s one killer piece! Those walnut shells look fantastic! Thanks for doing what you do.
Thanks for watching
Once again Jim you have made an amazing vase. I was having trouble blowing the dust out of your way. The colours are in places like opal and the shapes dance around looking like creatures from outer space. I love it.
Thanks for watching!
This piece is so beautiful and has so much character! After you added the first coat of finish, the purple sections were actually very visible, even if you didn't see it on the camera. The overall look with the small pockets of purple inside the walnut shells was a fantastic effect. Considering how all those faces looked, maybe you could do another one of these in the fall with orange resin. It would look like mini jack-o-lanterns. :)
Yes, totally. Thanks!
This piece is gorgeous! I love the natural black outline around each walnut piece, think it really helped accent the different colors!
Agreed! Thanks
I like the patters the walnuts make, but I also like the idea of dying the nuts different colors to make it even prettier.
In the future I will certainly do that. Thanks
The bowl featuring Designer Epoxy turned out beautifully. The walnut shells are very interesting to look at, no two look exactly the same.
Thanks 😊
Jim: another wonderful project completed. The shells really look like faces and martians from outer space. I like the foot that you made as it adds that extra touch to the finished project. I guess as you come up with your ideas and then finish the project it would be hard to give the vase, etc away. Each project is something to look back on and can give you ideas for the next one. Take care and stay safe. PS: I think we are in the last few days of snow.
Man I hope so! Thanks
I just love this piece. It's absolutely beautiful, and very, very unique!
Thank you very much!
Always a good idea to start with clean nuts 😉. It's always a treat to see you turning these hybrid materials. It always gives me ideas and inspiration to try new things.
Thanks 👍
That is utterly breathtaking, Jim. I did gasp when you put up the vid of it lit from the inside. So beautiful. But I get what you mean about the resin deciding what it wants to be - it's the mark of an artist.
Thanks 😊
Agreed! This is one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever seen. Well done!
Thanks so much 😊
What a fun piece. Absolutely beautiful. This is definitely one of my favorite pieces of yours.
Thank you very much!
Great piece. Love the walnut shells. I agree about the faces. I could sit and watch it all day.
Totally, thanks!
The shells looked a great deal like a CT scan to me. Glad there were not too many voids. Project turned out well, one of those things you can stare at for hours, like a lava lamp.
Totally, thanks!
This is super crazy cool. I absolutely love all the unique 'faces' the shells made. Hope you get more shells!
Me too, thanks!
I love the way the purple comes out in the different raking lights. What a gorgeous piece!
Thank you very much!
When I saw what you started with, and what you ended up with, I still haven't put the two together. This one was wild. Well done Jim.
Thank you very much!
It’s so unique! I see something different every time I look at it.
Totally, thanks
Wow, that’s one of my favorites. The Designer Epoxy colors went together perfectly. The masks/faces remind me of an old movie with natives on some forgotten island in the South Pacific. Can’t wait for another like this.
Thank you so much!
This is one of the coolest pieces I've ever seen! It does have an under the sea vibe to me. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Very unique and beautiful project! Jim's wife will love it! ❤️
She does, thanks
What a spectacular piece! The Designer Epoxy color choices complimented the walnut shells. I enjoyed looking back at the many faces looking at me.
There’s a lot, lol. Thanks
This piece has an amazing look to it. I loved the hints of the purple in peeking out og the swirling green and the pops of more vibrant tones in the shell voids. It's fun to hear your thoughts on the project as the video proceeds. Great Job!!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely beautiful and quiet unusual. You always do such great work.
Thank you very much!
You never cease to amaze me, this piece was so awesome, you are so gifted, seriously your talent is amazing.
Thank you so much 😀
The use of the walnut shells made for an awesome design. I love the green used for it.
Thank you very much!
Wow that is absolutely stunning. Jim, this is the most amazing piece yet, I just love it and you make it look so easy to do.
Thank you so much 😀
This is definitely one of your best pieces.
Glad you think so! Thanks
This squirrel vase is beautiful.
Like to listen to you explain your design ideas. Always a joy.
Thank you very much!
Could look at vase for hours and keep seeing different faces. Great vase. Designer Epoxy
Thank you! Cheers!
I don’t even have words to describe how stunning this is.
Thanks 😊
That’s stunning! Those shells look like tiny brains, or maybe exploding stars, which makes me think that blue and purple might be an awesome colour combination with those walnut shells. 🙂🌸
Blue and purple tend to blend together too easy for me, thanks!
Me and my mom were actually still talking about this way after your video ended and started coming up with ideas for you to try.
Mom said to fill your walnuts with different color resins and let them cure first and then pour them into a mold with a different color resin to get more of a contrast!!!
This was my original thought but with the shells being eaten on both sides it makes it hard to fill. Thanks for watching!
Wow Jim, that's probably the nicest piece I've seen you do! Beautiful!!
Thank you very much!
In all my epoxy/wood turning channel watching years, I never thought I'd see a guy put his own nuts in a pour. Freaking awesome, Jim!!!
I’m dedicated to the cause, haha. Thanks
Lol! OP, you're funny!
Another incredible masterpiece, Jim! Designer Epoxy!😍
Thanks again!
So unique and beautiful. One of the coolest bowls I’ve ever seen, no joke
Thank you very much!
Wow, the colors that showed when you were turning was not only purple and green but browns, amber and golds just so many different hues yes and the faces Love it
Thank you very much!
This project was a delight to watch from start to finish! What a treasure. The new mic does make a difference in the audio - loud and clear. I agree that you should do more projects like this one. It has been fun watching your focus change as you do different shapes and projects. I still like your bowls with inlays, but your resin work is just phenomenal.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much!
Wow, wow, wow. I love the pops of purples, blues, true greens, and browns peeping through. I also love the squirrel face with oversize teeth that shows up at 28:35 at the left third of the vase and the bird on the bottom. Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for watching!
Turned out much better than I would have thought.
Thank you very much!
That is just awesome. Yes you can see the color separation between green and purple. The shells look way cool.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤓😎
Thank you very much!
Outstanding project piece Jim! You’re really know how to match colours so beautifully. What a wonderful husband to gift his wife an individual piece of art 💫
Thank you very much!
You are always coming up such amazing pieces. Those patterns are awesome...whoever the recipient is, they're extremely blessed 😁💙
Thank you so much 😊
Designer Epoxy!
All I can say is WOW, WOW WOW!
Thank you very much!
this has gotta be one of the most beautiful ones you've made!
Thanks for watching!
Another amazing creation ! There are so many things you could find in each one of those, kind of like looking at the clouds. I really enjoy learning tips and tricks from you. You're like my mentor even though we've never met in person. Keep these awesome creations coming!
Thank you very much!
the shapes the walnut shells make are super interesting, they remind me of the corruption trees from a game called Chicory: a colorful tale. that's kind of a niche reference, but anyways, the point is this is a really cool piece, like always :)
Thank you very much!
One of these days… I hope to own one of your beautiful creations! 💕❤️💕
Thank you! Cheers!
This is absolutely awesome Jim. If I haden’t seen you actually using the walnut I would not known how you created all the different figures in the vase.
Thanks for watching!
Love, love, love this one too, Jim! What an amazing job on this one! 💜
Thanks so much!
I'm from Illinois, we have a lot of Black Walnuts. I've always thought they were a pain! Especially when you step barefoot on the broken shells! This piece though is fantastic! Who'd have thought walnut shells could be beautiful!
Totally, thanks!
From St Louis, exactly what I was thinking.😊
Lolololol! I had a real big laugh when you mentioned the vacuum chamber! I WAS really wondering why you didnt use it to get all those holes to fill!
OMG, Jim! This piece is spectacular!!! Its so unusual and different and truly is a gorgeous piece of ART!!
Thanks!
Thank you very much!
One of my favourites phrase I hear…heard it when I watched one of your videos for the first time…& it has kept me coming back……’Looks like I forgot to spray mold release (reaches for hammer!)” Yet you save (almost) every bucket! Gorgeous nuts, Jim!!! 😝
It's all in the technique, haha. Thanks
Wow! Walnut shells are really hard, glad you were able to get a clean cut. Designer Epoxy
Thanks for watching
The shells look like MRI shots of a scalp, I love it!
Thanks!
I don't usually care for resin turnings, because people "ruin" beautiful wood to do it. This piece was different, in that regard. There is a black walnut tree a few blocks from me, but I have to say that I've never seen them eaten by squirrels. That was very cool. The best I could is send you buckeyes. There are always a ton on the sidewalk on my work campus (not that I've been on campus in 3 years). Oh, this is the first video of yours I've watched and I am now a subscriber.
Awesome! I will need to lookup buckeyes, lol. Welcome aboard, thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for making the bowl for me,I had no idea it was mine until you said my name. I was blown away.looking forward to its arrival next week.Sandra Cyrus
I’m so glad you like it! It’s a special piece. Thanks for watching!
