    the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. czcams.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

  • @farmerjohn8726
    @farmerjohn8726 Před rokem +6

    One suggestion from Farmer John from Ontario: Since most of the visible nuts are towards the outside, putting the chamber on a slow turntable during the early part of the cure would spin all the nuts to the outside rather than being wasted or cored out in the middle. That would entail an alternate power arrangement for your chamber if it's continually powered, or else powering the chamber and spinning it alternately ... there would be a key time in the resin set where a quick spin would do it ... might not work for a two colour pour ... John

    This piece is so beautiful and has so much character! After you added the first coat of finish, the purple sections were actually very visible, even if you didn't see it on the camera. The overall look with the small pockets of purple inside the walnut shells was a fantastic effect. Considering how all those faces looked, maybe you could do another one of these in the fall with orange resin. It would look like mini jack-o-lanterns. :)

    the shapes the walnut shells make are super interesting, they remind me of the corruption trees from a game called Chicory: a colorful tale. that's kind of a niche reference, but anyways, the point is this is a really cool piece, like always :)

    This is absolutely awesome Jim. If I haden’t seen you actually using the walnut I would not known how you created all the different figures in the vase.

    I'm from Illinois, we have a lot of Black Walnuts. I've always thought they were a pain! Especially when you step barefoot on the broken shells! This piece though is fantastic! Who'd have thought walnut shells could be beautiful!

    One of my favourites phrase I hear…heard it when I watched one of your videos for the first time…& it has kept me coming back……’Looks like I forgot to spray mold release (reaches for hammer!)” Yet you save (almost) every bucket! Gorgeous nuts, Jim!!! 😝

    The shells look like MRI shots of a scalp, I love it!

    I don't usually care for resin turnings, because people "ruin" beautiful wood to do it. This piece was different, in that regard. There is a black walnut tree a few blocks from me, but I have to say that I've never seen them eaten by squirrels. That was very cool. The best I could is send you buckeyes. There are always a ton on the sidewalk on my work campus (not that I've been on campus in 3 years). Oh, this is the first video of yours I've watched and I am now a subscriber.
