I obtained a Larceny Barrel Proof yesterday. Excited to crack it with friends this weekend.
Air it out for at least 30 min....it’s a bit rough around the edges at first.....excited to revisit now I’m past the neck

Luckily I manage a restaurant I get first dibs at the local liquor store. So we always get antique collection. We got a barrel of wellers barrel proof coming our way. Hopefully I like it as much as weller 12yr.

A little late to this tasting, but here in VA in Nov. 2021 we cannot get either the Weller or the Larceny Barrel Strength. The only way to get some of these Bourbons is to drive to DC and pay exorbitant prices (if they have any in stock).
Lucky that the Larceny BP is $50 here. Will crack open for the Saturday morning Waffle and Bourbons LIVESTREAM!! Maybe the Weller FP will start showing up at under $100 in the next 2 or 3 years?! NAAAHHHHH, NFW being a BT product!
For me the winner is Horse Soldier because it is attainable at MSRP and I just can’t stand Maker’s Mark.

Buy a small 1 liter or 2 liter barrel, and store Larceny in it for a couple months. Soooooooo smooth.

Strawberries get their name from the way you winter them over. When they are done for the year throw straw down on to cover them then in the spring they sprout through the straw.

Iirc farmers would put straw over the berries to protect them during a frost/cold spell. Hence, straw berries.

According to Snopes "it comes from “stray” or “strew,” designating the spread of the plant’s runners (slender tendrils), in that in an unchecked field of strawberries the plants appear to have been strewn across the ground with their runners straying everywhere."
Well around here we grow our strawberries in beds of straw to keep them warm during early months. Straw berries? Lol idk

I have Larceny Barrel Proof B522 (which I find AMAZING) and Larceny and Makers Mark Cask. I already made a Prudent Pappy Blend with the Makers and the Larceny, but now I am wondering if a Less Prudent Pappy blend of 2 parts Makers Cask and 1 part Larceny Barrel would be even better...

@@stuartrobinson1593 I am not anywhere near Bourbon fluent but I mixed a small batch and have to say it was bad. Unlike the regular Larceny, the Barrel Proof does not come together well with the Makers. Very discordant taste to my inexperienced palette.

@@stuartrobinson1593 I let it sit for a bit. Same as when I tried mixing a small batch of Prudent Pappy before committing to a full bottle. Did not taste promising but I would love to hear your reaction as I know you have more experience tasting than I ever will. To my palette, The Prudent Pappy was immediately nice after mingling for 10-15 minutes.

Was this suppose to be a blind tasting? Because it seems clear that the guys knew which was which. Especially at the 13:11 mark , where two are clearly identified as the ones that were liked and to be blended together at the end of the episode.

I was lucky enough to get a Weller's Full Proof for near retail (around $65), and I will attest it is spectacular. I'd probably pay $100 for it. The $400-$500 secondary prices? You probably have brain damage if you pay that. It isn't THAT good.
Do you guys just go around michigan to find all these bottles, is their an online retailer that you trust or, is it god tier connections?

Ohhhh I was so disappointed in the Horse soldier, poured a dram while watching you guys and got the same floral nose and pallet. Asked my wife to nose and taste it because she just got home and didn't have the power if suggestion and she got the same thing. Ugh. $70 dollars for a green house.

Bought the Larceny BP for 60 bucks in California. Only had one dram so far, think it may need to open up a little, nose was very ethanol forward, taste was great. And unfortunately Weller FP is $300 #smdftb.
People are going to catch on to the goodness of Larceny and then it will be the next Blanton’s which is what happened to Weller. Then no one will have access to it lol or pay 300 per bottle.

Nope. I have multiple weller full proof single barrels. And Larceny BP c921 destroys them all, that c921 batch was special. Some of the others drank too hot.

craft whiskies suck 90% of the time. Usually when craft whiskies are actually good it's because it's sourced whiskey from MGP or some other producer. I have yet to be blown away by a new craft distillery's own juice. It's all far too young and way underdeveloped and often far too expensive for what you're getting.
We didn't hate it the first time we had it alone. It falls apart when it gets next to these ones though.
