"Couldn't live with a flip phone" I don't think she is comprehending that every single Li-Ion battery is mined with Cobalt. The only things that can be done is a re-engineered battery mining different minerals, or directly forcing change on the mining camps, which is politically extremely difficult. The victim mentality targets issues that would never directly affect them if they stand up for it.

Liberia was created as a place for slaves to go to from the Americas. It's Capital, Monrovia, was named after President Monroe. So if she is from Liberia, her roots may be more entangled with slavery than she thinks.

We are indirectly supporting slavery or looting the minerals of the Congo or other African countries without paying the right price. While we want to keep the rights of Americans but we’re doing wrong in the people that are far away;( we are the major contributing factors to the African minerals been looted and to child labor;(
Kinda sad how many of the student speakers kinda shrugged it off as "not my problem". The difference between this and previous lectures about chocolate is astounding. Like covid woke people up, they started to care about the environment and their fellow humans. But now things have started to return to "normal" people are starting to pay less attention
