Here is a list of cool free software for windows that I think everyone can use. Everything from an archive extraction utility 7-zip, to media players and a video converter. I'm always on the lookout for cool freeware, so if you have any suggestions, especially windows programs, be sure to let me know in future videos.

No one uses VLC to have video quality. People use VLC because it plays every video file format under the sun.
Exactly, plus has better portability and doesn't require to install codecs that affects whole system
Potplayer also does that.
you can everything set up.. colors, contrast.. so I use it for my BluRay Videos and it's working well :)
MPC does too. I swapped over to it so I can passthrough DD etc to my amp.
i use it for shortcuts and subtitle download feature
Such a joy to watch this dude's videos. Straightforward, unbiased, just the right amount of humour here and there. Keep up the good work lad.
winwar is free, you can easily bypass the "you need to upgrade" by pressing a cool button that looks like a red X
@@anujmations6755 winwar is free, you can easily bypass the "you need to upgrade" by pressing a cool button that looks like a red X
@@anujmations6755 Can't tell if you are joking or not, but if you aren't then you should know: While talking about software piracy, in a 2013 interview with Softonic, the CEO of WinRar (Burak Canboy) said, " ...every software producer currently has to deal. Yet this problem does not hurt us as much as it may hurt others since we already have a very liberal way of allowing users to continue using our software after the trial period is over." So, they allow you to use it after the trial period. It is not that they don't have security measures it place.
@@anujmations6755 No, thats not the case at all. It's better for business. Just look up the video: " WinRar and the Infinite 40 Day Trial." It explains everything.
@@anujmations6755 lol i use WinRAR and i can tell you its free for life even the 40 days trial expired
or the button "ok", works as well
dont try to fool us
Thank you so much, this helped me a lot. The "everything" program is the best. thx.
"Top questions science still can't answer"
How can video have 3 👀 views and 33 👍 likes? 🤔
ThioJoe omg seen at 8 views
ThioJoe how about f.lux
you should do worst apps ever and top illegal apps
it can happen by a mistake😀😀
ThioJoe Because they are fake likes!
ThioJoe....Thank you so much for one of your ad's. I watched it to completion. Cried....thinking, about a niece I lost to that. You are awesome who makes us all aware, of so many important things in life. Even beyond our computer's or other devices.
Why do people give you a thumbs down? It's free info you give and not only that but you sound professional and you get right to the point. Your tutorials are are amazing you even give us background how why things work.
I give him thumbs down becouse I can ...
@@luce985 even if you can doesn't mean you must.
I'll add some other few programs I use and find very useful:
- Paint.NET: for fast photo editing, supports plugins
- PotPlayer: best video player imho, lots of customization
- Inkscape: a free Illustrator, a bit laggy but it's great
- Hybrid: the best video encoder imho
- Waifu2x-caffe: upscales and denoise images, uses neural networks to detect jpg noise, it's really great
- MKVToolnix : demux and remux MKVs
- Subtitle edit and Aegisub: create/edit subtitles in any format
Pi7on j OK (9ooo9
thx!
Loved it when you said "Completely legally"
Concise, distinct and always easy to follow...really great!
OMG! I was curious to know programs like these. This made my life easy! Thanks! Nice content.
Subscribed.👍
VLC has the advantage that it is self contained. MPC need to have decoders for every file format. It's usually bundled with them but since they are installed into Windows they can cause conflicts with existing drivers. Also subtitle decoding can be less than adequate.
Thanks for handbrake ThioJoe!
Hello Thio. Thanks for this great video. I especially love Everything and Ninite they make my life much much easier.
Excellent buddy! Thank you very much. Keep on updating us with cool free programs.
Handbrake looks great. Thanks Joe. I do lots of editing to having a format converter is a must.
useful recommendation, thanks.. ..also, there is this useful and neat utility called FolderChanger which I use to manage and organize my computer folders. You can find it if you google for "folderchanger"
neat..
YOU ARE THE MOST AWESOME CZcamsR SHARER EVERRRRR!!!!,
THOSE TOOLS ARE SO INGENIOUSLY USEFUL , I THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN AND AGAIN, IT IS SO COOL TO HAVE YOU HERE! XO
You really helped with Audacity. I was searching this program for 2 years!!! Thank god there is someone like you on CZcams.
nice list, thx. also some friends recommend Folderchanger to easily organize files in Windows. You can find it if you google FolderChanger
nice app
Ransomware
a great free program
Free... Unless you want your files back..
but you have your files
you just cant open them...
no no no it's used as a batch encrypter.... yeah
I don't care what anybody says... Cryptolocker is THE BEST!!! Wannacry is toooo overrated.
I was the 69th like. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This is the first top list of recommended software that I've ever completely agreed with. Half of these I was already using, the other half I've started using and really enjoy.
I discover your video series and really enjoy your presentation and your humor!
I just compared MPC to VLC and saw no difference. Maybe MPC automatically uses hardware color decoding, but with VLC, it must be configured manually in your graphics card settings.
I just compared too. Imo, VLC has better blacks.
8:53 throw in another 2min in the video to reach 10min 😂😂
you see right through me
ThioJoe the AUDACITY to add in another program :|
Another great video! Your videos are always so useful! Thanks for making them!
Thank you for the "Everything" suggestion, it's exactly i was looking for!
If you don't use Audacity to create the dankest earrape memes, you're doing it wrong.

Fantastic list. I hadn’t heard of ninite.
Joe, I'm so lucky for finding your channel! Firstly I learned to be more careful and I wanted to, this is how I found you because I just got my new laptop. Than I got very paranoid for almost everything and started to search like crazy about what is legit and now I found myself in a situation that need downloading winrar and when Microsoft Store opened I said to my course project - see you tomorrow - because I felt literally lost. Than I came back and though you're a kind of person who leaves links for everything, even if it isn't a main topic - you know!
SpaceSniffer is a good alternative to WinDirStat!
Did you say like WinRar BUT free?
..
CORAL technacly winrar is free you just have to deal with the annoying message asking you to buy it
Mattyc1234567 Technically, WinRAR is not free. But you can abuse their trial system to use it without paying.
Holistically, WinRAR is free. Period.
Have you never read that annoying message that comes up in WinRAR? "Please note that WinRAR is not free software. After a 40 day trial period you must either buy a license or remove it from your computer."
In behalf of all of us who are not computer geeks, (and there must be a lot of us since you get so many views,) Bless Your Heart! Just keep making videos! We really appreciate you!
i love your videos man...thanks a lot for taking the time to make and upload them
I can't believe you had the Audacity to add another program onto this "7 program" list.
You forgot Audacity in the description
And the title (7 programs)
Oliver Lonsdale Flux is also a great program.
Firstly, thanks for posting!
I've been using MPC for years and years (I'd guess close to or over 10yrs ago) and it really does give better video and often sound quality. It's also really easy to boost your sound if your video has low levels, however it will increase the volume but often at the expense of sound quality. It's a great, light, easy to use player. I discovered it originally when I first got klite codec pack as it came included. I haven't used any other media player since, including for audio.
Audacity is also a fantastic program. As to effects, there are loads of them that you can find on the net. You can do an awful lot with it if you're into sound editing. It's my go to recording and mix down program.
I have both winRAR and 7zip. I only use 7zip occasionally but it's good for the odd file winRAR has trouble with.
I still use CCleaner for many things and find I don't have a problem with the registry cleaning feature in Windows 10 as long as it's on its default settings and, of course, always choose the option to back up the registry before cleaning.
Piriform programs are all good -
recuva is a great tool for recovering accidentally deleted files or files that are lost due to a PC problem. I've used it a few times on friends' computers where they've lost docs and pics and it does a good job. Of course, the ability to recover files depends on how overwritten they are, but you can even get partial files with docs, which, in an emergency, can be better than losing everything. There's also another free utility that help to unscramble corrupted docs as well. I can't think of it at the moment, but I'll post the name of it when I do. A friend of mine who's an author lost several chapters of a manuscript once and I used recuva and this other program and managed to get back about 90% of her work.
Media Player Classic has been discontinued and I would suggest switching to VLC. Audacity has been bought by a Chinese company (and if you didn't know, China is a very bad communist country which doesn't treat their citizens very well.) So our only option for a good open source audio editor is gone.
WOW! just ran windirstat on a drive I want to clean up and it is incredible, thanks for this great tip!
Very beautiful
Will all of them run on XP tho?
probably i would think
GD Ziem Are you still using XP?
potato potato potato potato potato potato potato It's outdated. It's not supported anymore. Higher probability that your PC gets ransomware.
..and?
GD Ziem Well, it's your PC.
I downloaded "everything" and tried it and it's great- searches very quickly thanks Thio.
Yesss! I've always use MPC. I like its simplicity plus I find it really light weight.
But can I make Everything search replace Windows file search?
Just use AVAFIND it's better than everything
@@skamau1 you're really crazy, everything is the best by far
i've never used mpc, i always use the one that comes with windows, windows media player i think ? lmao
can you make a comparison between them ? ty :3
Windows Media Player and the new Movies & TV app in Windows 10 are too limited as to the file types they will play. As an example, you cannot play HEVC (x265) encoded files in either.
Again Joe mate so easy to follow and I did know about some but really have not had it explained as you did WinDirStat for example. Thank you so much for the videos mate am going to watch some more. I just wonder how you manage the time and the quality of the videos really cool so sad that one or two the comments have to be so vulgar and in really bad taste.
How did I get here? I have no idea, but instead of finding a tube with tired old has been stuff, this..its like finding a gold nugget laying in the street, some very good programs and fun stuff. Subbed !
If you do this again put in rainmeter it’s super useful and awesome

awesome stuff. thanks. what size are our desktop monitors in the background?
Most of these, I've either used them, had some sort of alternative, or didn't need them. But everything sounds useful, and I've never heard of such a program, Definitely going to try it out.
Expected you to mention f.lux
he also forgot malware! and thats the best thing ever! obviously sarcasm
Joe, are you okay? You look like you haven't slept in a week.
Loaded and used WinDirStat to located and delete a Beta game that I could not find on the Hard Drive (after using Uninstall**). Recovered 28GB of disk space. 3 Gold Stars for WinDirStat and thanks ThioJoe. Lots of good stuff in the rest of the Video
I love your channel so much. always giving us the best stuff
Does Audacity now work with Windows 10?
Bruce Belvin Yes
Bruce Belvin always has worked.. has it not?
Downloaded Audacity as soon as I got Windows 10, which was slightly over a year ago. Worked perfectly fine for me back then and still does now.
Works for me
Sure, used it yesterday and everyting was fine.
VLC is most well known media player.
BUT POTPLAYER is the best
you can download SVP to upgrade your FPS to 60 FPS
Thanks bud I work with computers but sometimes you forget about these simple things, that was a nice video :)
This is amazing, I download and started using before the video ended
thiojoe cmon.. legends says if ur early af joe replies by saying hi.
hi
holy shit!!
I deleted system 32 :(
Jake Mize great now your pc runs faster and virus free XD
the "system32 is slowing down ur pc or its a virus" copypasta/meme should just stop
not everyone is a pc user that knows system32 is important,i promise atleast one guy saw this meme and believed it
AudryckDoesGaming did you delete it too? looool
Than why are you still here?
Onehandguy The Countryball they probably have an iPhone
Great suggestions! Have to give props to Handbrake and Audacity, as those I already know, and are great indeed! New subscriber for sure! :-)
You're amazing! How do you find out this stuff?! Thanks for sharing with us! Dallas TX
But is it valid in india tho?
Nothing is valid in India, even rupees.
Deadfire Grasp no too many scammers in India
Mr. Otaku meme
> no sharex mention
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
sharex is super buggy right now, especially when dealing with puush
I didn't know about Handbrake and MPC . Thank you both are good.
you are the best!!! you literally saved my laptop bro!!
I have win rar instead of 7 zip. It's better than 7 zip.
To solve the VLC gamma issue, open settings, go to the video tab and uncheck yuv to rgb conversion, leave a like if it worked for you
PS- VLC is the best and always will be
A very useful video thiojoe keep it up!
i already have 7zip. but I found out mpc is really helpful, thx dude!
Is This valid in india? xD
1. Winrar > 7Zip
2. VLC for life man.
Thanks Thio very useful, great job
Excellent video thanks for sharing!

WOW.
Ninite is amazing, thanks for telling me about it, definitely using it in the future.
I might actually be able to clean my computer now without worrying about installing all that stuff again lol
Great, thanks ! There were several I did not know about !
ThioJoe, go back to your satire!!! Use ThioJoeTech for this normal type stuff... Please???
Like so he can see.
oh no no not 7 zip, it might be a trustful app , but once i accidentally installed an app infected with a virus, it kept downloading several softwares without my consent from the internet which included "7zip" no matter how many times i uninstall 7 zip comes back, i hate 7 zip !!! i vote for winrar
7zip is even trusted by school districts, so you should too
oh no 7zip no no no no it ruined my computer.. my $1200 PC... had to fully reset it ,lost everything
$1200? That's cheap!
Subscriber $1200 cheap? i hope its a joke comment...
Cheiften For a computer $1200 is cheap, some computers are as much as $15 million
When staging a computer one of the first handy user programs I install is CZcams downloader, or indeed the complete Lavasoft free studio program. It's very handy for many things but especially if you're using Chromecast and want to watch a CZcams video on the tv without annoying ads. You can download the CZcams video and then play it through VLC player the ads are gone. I use it all the time. Wireless Network Watcher is another little handy app as it tells you who is on your network at any given time. Because I'm "Old School" I tend to install classic shell first when I'm staging a machine as the old windows start menu is easer for me to navigate to where I want to be on the computer.
Thanks this was helpful I installed 3 of these programs.
Winrar > 7-zip
No, Winrar > 7-zip.
7zip sucks.
Why do you think 7zip sucks and WinRar is better? I'd like some valid arguments.
Exactly. Personally I hate the annoying popup WinRar has whenever you open it.
Eh, to be honest I really don't have any valid arguments.
I'm just really used to WinRAR and haven't really tried it, so...
I stand defeated.
I'm uninstalling alot of stuff today and kinda cleaning my computer so i might use ninite and install it :3
Hi there, thanks for all the helpful information. do you have any good picture editing sites you can recomend.
Thanks. That's a very practical list.
hi, bro thanks for your tutorials. it been very helpful. Be Blessed.
Just got Windows 10 to install Windows 11... And then this came on... Brilliant stuff, ThioJoe 👍
super COOL ....! Thank You very much. Please continue.
How many times I gotta ask Thio? What are your render settings? Video quality is gorgeous.
love these videos. i use vlc but if mpc is better thats great, really helpful.
A good alternative to WinDirStat is WizTree. Takes way less time to scan the drive since it reads file sizes right from the MFT instead of scanning each and every file.
For a good zip program, I've used IZarc for years. No affiliations. Great list!
Great info! Subscribed!
Most useful "Top ________" video that had genuinely interesting items!
ThioJoe, I really love the real tech videos as well as the fake ones you're doing really well man! I have a question though is it possible to have an open nat while on a VPN?
i couldnt have seen this at a better time in the morning i finish building a new computer and was dreading the installing programs part
I have heard you mention Notepad++ in a previous video but have not seen if you have brought up "Brackets". It is a great open-source coding program with lots of features and add-ons available.
Thank you for showing Handbrake, I'd never heard of it and it works much better and much quicker than paid for WinX HD at converting the VOB files from my old camcorder to MP4.
