    cant get over the number of people riding bikes without helmets on busy roads. being in Australia where in some states its compulsory like seat belts in cars. Its amazing and cant help wondering how the health service would keep up with head injuries etc. I know here since helmets have been mandatory head injuries have dropped to the delight of health services. Thanks for your fine videos, as an ex Londoner of 60 years ago its just great to watch and the number of cycle ways and the great things London Councils are doing to make cycling more pleasant and safer. Regards from Anthony from Sunshine Coast just north of Brisbane, Queensland

    The tomatoes thing is because supermarkets get their fruit and veg on massive long term supply contracts where the focus is on consistency of product and availability rather than quality. Markets can get whatever seasonable food is available and not as constrained on where they get their food.

    As usual another fine piece of video footage. I’m loving your commentary. You’re so knowledgeable about the streets of London. It would be great if we could see the first part of the postcode of the streets you’re going down like EC1 or E17 just to give us an insight on when you’re leaving on borough and entering another.

    I'm really enjoying these rides, back in the 70s I used to cycle from Orpington to Wandsworth for college.
    I used mostly back roads to Brixton then on to what was then the new Covent Garden, it was the best part of the day.

    Another superb route. An alternative alignment to the Calthorpe Street - Margery Street - Amwell Street - River Street section is a left turn from Calthorpe Street into Kings Cross Road and immediate right turn into Lloyd Baker Street (through a signalised junction phase). Lloyd Baker Street is a climb like Margery Street but now in a Low Traffic Neighbourhood so no more tailgating motor vehicles behind you. This alignment takes you across to River Street head on crossing Amwell Street at relatively ease.

    • @Londoncycleroutes
      @Londoncycleroutes  Před 2 lety +1

    Another great vid. It seems like your audio quality is much improved over your earliest ones too, which is appreciated.
    I'm always impressed by how stable your video is. Do you stabilise it in post or is it all in the camera? What camera do you use and how do you mount it? I've tried shooting something like this in Southampton and it was just far too shaky to be useable (though the state of the roads round here probably doesn't help...)

    • @Londoncycleroutes
      @Londoncycleroutes  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you! The audio is something I’ve been working on, so glad it’s paying off. Re: the camera, I use a GoPro Hero 8 Black and the image stabilisation is all on camera - it’s like night and day. It’s mounted on the handlebars - if you want to see the difference, my old camera was mounted in the same place and didn’t have stabilisation… the first few videos on the channel were shot with that and they are very bouncy! Was definitely worth the money

    • @Theo-rx9mk
      @Theo-rx9mk Před 2 lety

      The current routes for traversing Tower Hamlets north south are not great and the councils are procrastinating on the Victoria park to Isle of Dogs cycle lane which has started construction but had been indefinitely delayed. Routes like Stratford to Canary Wharf aren't currently great.

    • @Londoncycleroutes
      @Londoncycleroutes  Před 2 lety

      I’ll give that a go… I’m assuming you currently go through Greenwich foot tunnel? It’s honestly not ideal, they should have built that Canary Wharf-Rotherhithe cycle bridge which I think has been cancelled

    • @KayakingCabble
      @KayakingCabble Před 2 lety

      @@Londoncycleroutes Yeah the tunnel isn't ideal but it at least links to some other routes you've done on the Greenwich end, I've previously gone down Burdett Road but my girlfriend wouldn't be confident on that, also that you get pushed towards Westferry circus when you get over East India Road is another spot I want to avoid

    Really enjoyed this route! I recall you criticising Popham Road in Islington on Q2/C27 in a previous video, as vehicle traffic uses it as a cut through going westbound, which creates pretty nasty conflicts when cycling east. Have you noticed any improvement? It's on my regular commute and I have to say I haven't, unfortunately.

    So, I'm not a Londoner I'm a Northerner living within striking distance of Waterloo Station. I'm also a cyclist. Many of your routes (quite rightly) are aimed at a London cyclist's commute. However, for a cyclist arriving at Waterloo on the train on a quiet Sunday a circular tourist route taking in sights/bridges would be invaluable. If you make such a video, I will commit to road testing the route for you. Keep making the videos, it's good honest content.

    I think you need a realtime GPS overlay to show where you are along the whole route. It will be much easier to follow. It easy to get lost from the ground level view. Isn't there some software that can track your GPS coordinates and link them to a map of the route?

    • @Londoncycleroutes
      @Londoncycleroutes  Před rokem +1

      I’ve looked at doing something like this before - main issue I had was that to make the minimap readable and useful it has to be a decent size you have to make it quite big and it takes up quite a big chunk of the screen. Have decided against for now but do provide maps if people want to follow along

      That’s not something I’ve come across personally either myself or anyone I know, though I’m sure it has happened. There were some news stories I think last year about something like that happening in Richmond park where people take racing bikes I think, not sure what happened. A more common thing is theft of bikes locked up outside I think - which does happen, though touch wood I’ve not experienced it
