- We are taking our Broncos on a Tour of Colorado. This episode we navigate the Alpine Loop, a combination of passes between Lake City, Silverton, and Ouray Colorado. This trail loop is one of the most iconic in Colorado and good for any novice to intermediate off-roader. We make the most of this adventure by taking along our fly rods, roof top tent, and hiking boots. Set aside a couple days to really explore this area and enjoy the views!
---------- Please share this video on your local Bronco Facebook group. It will give insight into our huge natural resources available to any Off-Roader.

The post also helps the snowplows know where the road is .
Shelf roads strike fear into my heart and nervous system!
The tall sticks are so the dozer can find and clear the road of snow in the spring. If you were on the mountain with enough snow to need those to guide you, you would be stuck there until spring!
Great vid. Just volume down the music a bit. Much louder than your voice.
Very enjoyable video, thanks for sharing…y’all seem like great people
Came for scenery and stuck around for the cooking session. Really enjoyed the drone segments until the chapper crash. This video brings back many great memories from my drive along the Stony Pass/Cinnamon Pass segments (via Lake City) on the loop in 2006 (in a rented jeep) and then again in 2008 in my new FJC. As a flatlander from the southeast, this area of Colorado really blew me away. Been back many summers since 2008 volunteering with the Colorado Trail Foundation. Enjoyed travelling along with y'all vicariously and getting me stoked for my September '23 trip out.
Why didn’t I find this video before? Thanks for sharing your trip. 👍
Great video! That was fun to watch
Colorado pinstripes!! 👌😉😎
Excellent views and video.
Just found your channel…..subbed and liked……planning a trip there next summer……beautiful -lace.
San Cristobal lake is an excellent place to camp close to town. Great campsites on the south side. Get a shower at the RV park on way into town. 4x4 is recommended on the loop and it is rocky. I did the north side from town to Engineer Pass on my mountain bike.
Great video, can't wait to go back! What kind of 3D map were you using???
Nice video - bummer about your drone! Love the Alpine Loop, and agree spending at least a couple days is the way to go. So many offshoots (California Gulch, Wager Gulch, Hurricane Pass, etc.) so allowing 2-3 days allows some of that. I’ve done this in an Xterra and a couple of 4Runners - still waiting for my Bronco! Reserved April ‘21, bumped from ‘21, to ‘22 and now’23! Hopefully won’t be too much longer!
Agreed. We bypassed California gulch but plan to hit everything next year.
Very cool.
Thanks TD
We are wanting to go to lake city in September. And the entry to the video answers my question. We are bringing the side by side. Basically I want to park my truck and not touch it till we leave. So being able to drive it through town is what I was looking for.
Great video!
Well thank you Robert! Appreciate the support.
Where exactly did you camp for the night? I'd love a pindrop. Loved that it was just the two of you and the bear that stayed away😂
Good views but did not mention that sone of these dirt roads are old railway trackbeds from the narrow gauge mining industry that used to cover Colorado.
Ive been wanting to take my sxs there but it's booked up for years it seems... People love Silverton
Thank you dear peeps, but one thing, please don't associate a Ghost Town with fear of ghosts, making silly noises, BECAUSE, for the sake of children, it should be simply explained that a Ghost Town is simply a place that is un-inhabited, where the dwellings have been abandoned. Thank you for your beautiful videos. In United Kingdom, what you cal switchbacks, we call U-bends/ hairpins! U-bends are normally for rivers. Blessings.
Lol
Nice vid! Enjoyed it.
Thank you!
@@alpinegarage8548I plan to do this trip and take my dad who is 72 along for the ride , will be a first for me being from North Carolina, one last great adventure
Enjoyed the video!
If you were taking this same route from lake city to Silverton without an overnight stay, about how long would that take? Thanks 👍🏼
Can you do the alpine loop with an AWD with AT tires? I’m moving to California from New Jersey at the end of July and will drive cross country. I’m planning on spending a couple of days in Colorado to explore. I was wondering if there are any good places/trails you can recommend that an AWD SUV can handle.Thanks. Great video!
Great,,,
Thank you Gwen!
Nice video, cool shots...still loving your FE? I totaled mine and ended up getting a Bronco Raptor..I miss my FE. Not sure which one I like more...PSSS F.E.
Yes, it’s been a great truck so far Dr.
Best vid I've seen yet on this area, thank you. Helped me make my plans. Looks like much of this trip can be done in a full size 4wd truck, no?
Probably not Black Bear pass. There is a section that is too narrow but with good spotter it could be done. But need to be a little experience and balls of steel.
There is a video of a guy taking his Power Wagon through Black Bear pass and he regretted every second of it. He was on the thin edge of disaster too many times and there is one switchback that he had to move back and forth several times and still damaged the side of his truck on a rock face. Not recommended. The other passes? No problem.
I was nervous about taking my full rig up cinnamon but it looks pretty tame in the video…did you show all the harder spots? (Setup is ram 1500 with overland gear and a front/rear hitch carriers with dirtbikes so a lot of weight for a 1500)
Edit* also the dispersed camping spot is that near “a. Forks”?
The Bronco is surprisingly quiet when the engine is running!
I think everyone has a fear of shelf roads. You are not alone. Just don’t watch the video of Black Bear pass where the jeep rolled off!!!
Could a full size truck and 12' camp trailer make the loop (partial) or all?
lol 6:10 these little waterfalls are really neet and then proceeds to not show us ::)
Good video, but you need to drop the canned music.
Thanks for the tip!
is there diesel fuel access out there?
What drone do you guys use?
There is more than 1 filling station in town, lol..
Please turn the music volume down.
It almost looks like engineer with a heavier rig might be better reversed of how you did the loop?
I would say that is a fair comment. It’s similar both ways.
