Tarkov Life-Hacks for Early Wipe! Tips and Tricks to get ahead
Vložit
- čas přidán 1. 07. 2024
- Today’s video is all about the tricks, tips and strategies that I have used to start off this wipe. We’ll be covering lots of topics in this video, starting with optimising stash space and getting to the Lucky Scav Junkbox, which has become really important with the changes to the flea market only accessible at level 20.
Next, we’ll check out some of the less obvious but useful barter trades for progression and modding, which have been changed a little this wipe for certain items like handguard rails.
Two of the best weapons that you can get access to early are the SKS from Jaeger and the VPO-136 from Skier, as both use 7.62x39 PS. The SKS is perfect for long range, as it’s one of the first weapons that can take a scope, namely the PSO which fits natively. On the other hand, the VPO can be modded fairly easily to attach a handguard, laser and red dot for more CQB styles of combat and can also be crafted into a full auto AKM at workbench 1.
Finally, we’ll take a broad look at the early quest lines and give a few tips for some important things to know to help get these done early, including a useful keys and food items loot run.

Only just started playing so this is muscle memory for most but using struts and foregrips etc to mount mods and scopes has been a huge temporary space saver. 1 shotgun strut + 3 lights/lasers knocked down into 1 slot instead of 4 separate pieces.
V good tip
Thank you Gigabeef. You're the first Tarky vid I've seen of this wipe that mentions that other traders no longer take gun parts unless dismantled first, if the gun is damaged. Good vid.
Thanks!
This guide is still useful today. Some minor changes happened in 2022 but it's still fine.
Thanks so much for this. Must say I really appreciate the SCAV karma and flea market at level 20 combination. Makes early wipe so much more fun for beginners like me.
Yeah it's different this wipe for sure!
That gunsmith part 2 work around is a life saver.
those pistol kills are streamer luck, when I go in a raid to do that quest I always meet swety boys
m9 feels like it got a buff this wipe, it’s so good. I also fell in love with it
that's why face hit box is such a great mechanic
fuck face hit box, more like the entire head because helmets are useless and nobody wears rbem
Ran into a sweaty 3 man on factory, one of which was an altyn boi with the new gen4 looking armoured rig, managed to pso his legs with a glock17 before his friends got me, feels good to at least take one down with me
lmao, first raid on factory trying to do stirrup I ran into a 5 man and died, next raid I ran into tagilla and he chased me down and got me, then the next raid I ran into a guy wearing an altyn. It was wild that's for sure.
Old but gold. cheers for this one
Super nice guide! The village in Shoreline has a quite high amount of jackets too!
8:43 You can knock another 4 recoil off it quite cheaply (~1.5K₽).
Replace the muzzle brake with the Taktika Tula AK and AKM adapter from Skier and the AK-103 muzzle brake from Prapor both level 1.
Ah lovely. Nice one!
dang that was my little stylish secret
Bravo! You are awesome. Thanks for keeping it simple!
Great tips here Beef, jogged my memory on a few things I'd forgotten too. Keep it up mate!
Cheers!
Really solid video thanks i was missing your content this wipe!
Thanks!
Thanks so much! This actually helps a lot!
Giga is the one of the best content creators of Tarkov on my opinion, informative and straight to the point
Too kind! Appreciate it though, thanks :)
Great content as always. Still valuable for someone on their 3rd wipe :)
Thanks!
I’m a little late to this wipe, but thanks to your videos and advice. I’m making my way. Slowly but surely. Thanks dude
Good luck!
Awesome tips! I had no idea that only the lower receiver had durability. Thank you.
Solid tips, looking forward to the next Scav Talk 👍
Cheers!
Always love me ol scav talk podcast
LOL for the mechanic quest regarding the shotgun, this wipe I found the compensator I needed by just talking to a scav with a shotty that had one and traded for it right there on the spot.
Great video. Found it very helpful! :)
I've been doing runs on Reserve as my scav to get keys and food but I still need the bunkhouse key as well. Also for the first day I just ran woods, started looting at sunken village, go up to the little camp by the relay tower, loot around said tower, and finally hit USEC camp. Found a very good variety of loot doing that and it was pretty uneventful, other then when I forgot where the mines were on USEC camp.
*distant boom*
I did a scav run on woods and my scav had 3 bunkhouse keys in his backpack
Good review content, probably watched this 3 times :)
This is perfect for me because I have a life lol.
Ya... Exactly 😅
im lucky if i get 2 raids a day
Yeah only pick Tarkov to play on my vacations lol
Really? Wow.
Best rig for space at least for me was CSA with 10space inside while only taking 6. Its small so very easy to tetris in your stash on top of that it can fit up to 3 slot guns and items like smgs and pistols
this the best guide i seen so far
Thanks!
Yo, I finally found your CZcams! I listen to the podcast at work, hadn’t really had time to find the tube. Love what y’all do, I’m new to pc and tarkov, it’s brutal!
Nice! Just out of interest, how did you find the podcast first? Because most people find it from this CZcams :)
@@Gigabeef Apple podcast, I was on the search for a tarkov podcast. Trying to learn as much as I can. I feel like you guys are a lot more beginner friendly than others.
you can also buy the b-11 handguard from skier 1
For the VPO 136 you can buy the TT Akm adapter from skier and the ak-103 muzzlebrake from prapor to get slightly better performance
Nice! Cheers
Good tips, thanks. You've had the best run at stirrup I've ever seen I think. I've had six attempts into factory and everytime run into geared blokes before I can get a good run. I've only managed two pmc kills in the six or so attempts so far.
I was also shocked! And then friend from the west too... Blessed this wipe, and two flash drives early. Makes up for last wipe where I had to get intelligence center 2 and make them because I had such rotten luck!
@@Gigabeef hahaha that's it! The tarkov gods giveth, and the tarkov gods taketh
Dang, that last clip - that was a chad pistol run :D
Some of my best ever, I surprised myself!
Great video!!
Thanks for the vid. Loved how entertaing it was to learn questing😂
Haha... Yep
Looking at this guide in 12.12 is just hilarious. Crafts have been way easy just a year ago still.
my man! on point as always..
Thanks!
Running the villages and camps along the North of woods as a Scav is a beauty for early wipe loot needs. I’m swimming in food and hideout items
I’ve found that this early in the wipe you don’t usually need the office key. That door is unlocked and open in most raids, just swing through on your way to extract and collect your quest items
Good point!
I've been to dorms at least 3times hoping someone has opened 206.. No go yet 😓
@@brohemian Same!
You make it look so easy! I’m still trying to find the spark plug to get my generator going. Great video thanks for the tips!
I wish you luck of nikita on your toolboxes :)
I couldn’t find a spark plug for four days and now I can’t stop finding them.
interchange scav runs. Still haven't found toothpaste, but I got level 1 on most of the rest from jsut scaving interchange. Only got killed by scavs twice so far.
For the Vepr AKs I like to put the Taktika Tula AK Adapter on it so I can use the AK-103 compensator (from LL1 Skier and LL1 Prapor respectively). It doesn't help *that much* with the recoil, but both parts are less then 1,000 rubles each. :)
As someone who started playing dying in the grass simula... I mean Tarkov, a week ago and has gone 3:9 on my raids (took a few days to lean some maps before I live played, this video should just come with the game saying watch this first, So helpful!! I feel like you need 6 months training just to play this game right.
6m I think is about right lol, too much to know not to get smashed for the first few anyway!
I'm at that stage now😳how is it going after 7 months?
Also the trick with the slow production without fuel is game changing for rat like me
I started playing 2 months ago last wipe. And i actually got to flea faster this time haha.
Yeah everyone not full Chad! Definitely makes it easier 😊
Same! Last time it took me a month. This time it took closer to a week of game time
There's also the fact you now know the game better, you can go straight to certain quests and most likely are just better at the game from experience
great work mate :D
Thanks :)
Stirrup raid time 4:20, nice.
Hello Gigabeef. Thx for the great content! I have 2 questions. First, do you stream on Twitch? Because I have a prime sub lying around ;). Second, which fov do you use? Thanks in advance
Haha I do! But right now my schedule only allows for one day, so I stream on Saturday afternoons UK time www.twitch.tv/gigabeeftv
As for the other one, I use 64. The thing to remember in EFT is the fov refers to vertical fov, not horizontal - so 64 horizontal is like 96 vertical (in 16:9 res anyway) which most other games use
VPO .366 is my go to gun early wipe this time. Mainly because you can get supressor for it and Eko rounds are not that bad
8:10 you can use ak74 black polymer stock from prapor l1 for +2 extra ergo and its not expensive at all
I believe one of the pistol grips gives an extra point of ergo too
Good call. Or go full Freedom Fighter - grab a Wooden CAF handguard and rely on the lights from the Hilux to see the enemy.. Found the laser too often is an early warning system for the enemy - since I have stoner reactions. Plus they tend to come back on the old insurance.
@@rickybuhl3176 I leave my laser/flashlight combo off and turn it on as I peek and prefire. Figure the extra split second they're disoriented and have to react could be worth something.
I usually do stirrup by rushing techlight and killing other hatchlings and pistol players running there but this wipe I was having no luck at all and spending all night trying to get kills. I think my problem here was the flea market change. On the second day of wipe there weren't low level players rushing tech stores because they didn't have a way to sell the loot.
Eventually for my last kill I went to factory and got two pistol kills almost instantly as soon as I walked out of forklift.
There are people rushing techlight now who are cheaply geared but I'm seeing a lot of magnum shot (probably the super yolo KS23 guys from late last wipe just with early game gear).
Yeah interesting how it affects the dynamics of where people go!
Finally some early wipe advice from gigabeef!
Thanks for the info on gunsmithing with lv1 traders. I also fell in love with the m9. Unless I have the neon green or red point iron sight part for the glock, I prefer m9 iron sights to the glock.
I wish you or someone would make a guide about rough order to complete tasks, esp since some later tasks are strangely identical (all that marking stuff on shoreline etc). I can't find a good explaination for what order to do the tasks. If it's anything like last wipe I'll still mess up and find myself doing almost identical tasks in different raids.
Hmm yeah it's hard for me because I don't progress at the 'average content creator rate' ie only got level 20 last night... So by the time I've figured it out for this wipe its too late haha
I'm trying to combine punisher 3 with the other scav customs kills but otherwise I just kinda do them as they come
@@Gigabeef I'm level 14 and Id guess >75% of players are below 20. Probably far from 20. A guide like that would be mostly relevant for future wipes too. But it is a lot of work, I'm not even sure where to begin, I guess figure which tasks would overlap but then figuring out the order of other tasks that need to be done to get to those. 🤔🤔🤔
Also last night I took m9 to reserve for bunker scout task. I ended up in the water surrounded by raider and scavs. Using door frame to hide reloading, headshoted whole squad of raiders and a couple scavs before i ran out of ammo and overrun by a player scav. Another raid I was sniping from the roof with it. M9 owns.
Gas Analyzers also spawn inside the pumping station on Factory for anyone that might still be stuck. Just need pump front or pump rear keys
I personally take the Ultimak gas tube with no foregrip over the AK-100 with an RK-6 in the early game. It's much cheaper for the same recoil reduction and only a couple points less ergo.
Fair, a solid choice
you can actually just buy the b-11 from skier 1 now instead of doing mechanics barter
Ah neat!
Redundant..then either one should be removed from lvl 1. Because it's cheap to buy, so why would you bother with the barter especially since it requires a green bat.
@@furiousfelicia5751 diversity…I get what you’re saying but yeah
@@daddylopz3100 or, I just remembered because of Pestily :) so that HC players don’t get stuck there although new scav boss kinda changes that now since he can spawn with the hangurard
@@furiousfelicia5751 oh you’re absolutely right
i was wondering why some traders werent buying my guns, when they were last wipe, the durability thing adds up now.
Nice vid sir. I have two Junk Boxes and I am a pack rat... As a survivor of many-a-wipes I should know better LOL wish that I had better luck finding fuel though.
Yeah I've not hunted for much fuel yet but I don't play interchange very often. So far I've just been turning on the gen, starting a craft and turning it back off again as there's not much I want to make atm
Do you think the VPO136 is better than the SKS besides being more expensive? I just bought the game and can't aim for shit with the SKS sight but somebody told me to get used to iron sights because I'll be using them a lot.
Btw, gameplay at the end was sick, man.
I do, yes. I don't mind the Sks as much as I used to (hated the irons) but I still go 136 for shorter range and Sks hunting for using the PSO, if I'm not being really stingy on cost and using the Sks anyway haha (killing scavs for example)
Lvl 10 is only 1/5 of the way to 20? We got a long ride ahead of us boys.
Great video by the way
it's actually more than that 10-20 is 5 times as much as to get to 10. So it's actually 1/6 of the way 😭
Any advice on tarkov shooter series? I'm still stuck on part 1 because every time I encounter scavs I can't get the 40 meter engagement distance
Bolt action is 100% not my speciality, bit early in the wipe but 7n1 is good because unarmored +level 2/3 gets one tapped by it. Mosin or sv98 to get the job done. Sv98 has a nice iron sight imo
These pistol runs are straight up action movie material.
Honestly was SO much fun haha
You make the m9 look op
I wish it was like that all the time XD
do pestilys factory run for your industrial/medical loot. its less than a minute usually and you get boatloads of medical stuff + enough industrial to complete your quests
I did stirup in one factory run with a Glock but it took my friend like 5 tries because all other PMC's kept being juicy boys haha
Ha yep can be rough sometimes!
pro tip buy bolt actions from fence there still accurate not as accurate but still a good deal.
the lucky scav box was a godsent... im on the process of feeling my third one lol...
Omg haha hoarders unite!
It was the first thing I bought. I did a few raids, sold shit I knew I was gonna die with anyway, and spent ALL my money to get my first one at like lv3 lol.
DeltaPoint is no longer available at LL1 for some awful reason. Mount still is but the sight requires LL2.
NGL the two keys (tarcone director and dorm 206) that are locked behind grindy trades with therapist, i was stuck just basically unable to advance in quest for a while already, and all of sudden in the same raid i find both of them at once, and then in one night i was able to complete like 6 quests in barely 2 hours because i already had all the stuff needed for the others without knowing it but i was stuck on the keys. I've been able to complete more quests in one sitting at once than ive ever done since the beggining?. It just shows how unbalanced are the quest at the beggining
I surprised how fast you got stirrup. Last wipe I got it in two runs but this one I’ve been riding the struggle bus
Me too!
Personally I've only had to use 1 vpo I have been getting alot of akm/n/s/sn off of scavs and have been running them with the bastion and the MRS/delta
remember that low durability affects accuracy now so scav weapons are not that reliable now. Plus they jam more
@@ivanquiles4903 yea but for the most part it hasn't been an issue I might have felt I missed on or 2 long taps on scavs but for my medium/ close range it doesn't seem to matter at least to me
Azimuth or Blackrock + CSA in a Pillbox: 200% efficiency.
Three CSAs is also 200% efficient, if you want more three slots.
I dont know about this wipe i havent paid much attention, but peacekeeper usually pays just as well as others but just not in roubles
Seriously, those flash drives are just awful to find. Took me till I had done around 90 raids this wipe before I found both of them, and by that point I had seen a total of 3 (I died in one where I had one). Really wish there was a better way around this quest other than getting the intel center which is sooooooo far down the road.
I'd also recommend the APS for stirrup, the full auto mag dump was pretty effective for me and won me lots of fights I should not have.
I feel you man, last wipe i got so unlucky with that quest that i only get flash drives from intel center.
Yep the flash drives are awful. Got lucky this wipe but as you say it's not consistent enough and is such an early quest
just wanted to point out on the ak 74u build Skier sells the handguard for like 6k rather than trade the battery for it
Nice spot! Good to have an alternative if its sold out :)
ive just been chadding factory, love getting 2k xp in 2 minutes lol best ive done is 5k xp with a buddy in like 9 minutes on factory, killed 2 pmcs and 7 scavs
that scav gun sell to fence tip is really good i didnt know that!
Nothing for me here but then I'm an old hand at this. It's a lovely little video all the same.
Hehe yup old timers got these down :)
I read this as an Irish farmer
@@eldonhill4840 haha you'd be right about the irish thing, farmer not so much I'm afraid.
you bloody factory chad
Im always finding loose stuff all around boxes and ive stacked up a good amount of money off of stuff like that. Everybody misses the loose stuff
Compared to last wipe i really struggle to farm money, im doing long raids with lots of kills and nice survival rate compared to my first wipe. But whitout flea it's pointless to sell things...it's hard to sell things at low price when you know that in future you will have to buy them for more
Just sell everything until you get to around level 17 aside from items you need for quests and hideout upgrades
so what about plethora of things that are better off sold to vendors anyway? Like condensed milk, silencers, sights, thermometers, gauges,...
Good shout for the key runs! Want to borrow my bunkhouse key? :P
Haha literally just got to the flea today so could buy one for 12k 😅
I would actually recommend AGAINST doin Stirrup early on because it gives you negative rep with Therapist and Prapor. There are plenty of other Skier quest you can do to gain rep without dinging negative rep with other traders. Same goes for anything that gives negative Jaeger rep early on too since he can be such a pain to rep up. This goes double for folks on Standard accounts.
Good point - although I think you can do it and then not hand it in, if you were that way inclined
yeah i just did it but didnt hand it over till i had more rep with prapor and therapist
Did you know you can add a better compensator to the VPO-136 at level 1 traders?
Actually not until everyone was telling me here! Doesn't make much diff I guess but good to be aware :)
the problem with barter trades for early quest items is that you often need traders level 2 and that takes like level 17+ so you might as well just wait 3 days and use the flea.
Pretty sure mine are level 1 because I messed up chemical 4 and annihilated my prapor and therapist rep lol
Do you have a link to that quest chart?
It's just on the main quests page on the wiki escapefromtarkov.fandom.com/wiki/Quests
Solid content if I do say so myself and I do
Haha ty
Mosin trick doesn't work anymore?
How do you unlock that thing where you were modding a weapon and able to select parts I haven't seen that. Where is that
Once you've made workbench level 1, you can do right click -> edit preset. Parts that you have identified show up in that screen
@@Gigabeef thanks just got it
In lucky scav box, can you auto sort?
Yep! It's glorious
I constantly get factory rounds with only 2 or 3 pmc‘s
My bane this wipe is a car battery. Can't find one to save my life. Keep visiting known spots they spawn, no luck. Bet I'll get the fm before I fins one.
SKS Gang
Idk what I'm doing wrong, but whenever I attempt to get pistol kills, everytime I just get head eyes within the first 30 seconds of spawning. Even getting the drop on someone still ends up with me dead. Haven't been able to get a single pistol kill this wipe yet.
I used to use the pm and tt because it was cheap. The m9 changed my life! In factory, not exposing too much of your body and focusing on taking precise shots is the name of the game
I haven't been able to get more than 1 kill with my PMC. Even when i get the drop on someone it's a team of 2 or more player and they just mow me down.
Everyone acts like I'm a psycho for having 15+ scav rigs for storage space
The real hoarders know
I just repair the weapon using a trader I need to level, and then sell it to them. It's like double dipping.
Hey Giga can you share this customs dorms map?
nevermind :P got it
Nice :)
Im lvl 17,5
Already filled 5 junkboxes...🤪
Hopefully i‘ll make it to 20 atleast.
Wow that's impressive haha
Im level 17 and I still need my last Gas analyzer and final flash drive. The shit never spawns for me, its actually driving me crazy.
I'm still looking for a packet of Croutons... Haha
@@Gigabeef Oh man that took me way too long as well, I only just got those 2 days ago, I found them at reserve in the cafeteria.
GG
I saved up and got the junkbox
Filled in 3 minutes
Yup. I've got 2 full ones already. And somehow I still need tons of barter items for everything
What website did he use for that task graphic?
It's just on the wiki: escapefromtarkov.fandom.com/wiki/File:Questline_Flow_Chart_Cristian95.png
@@Gigabeef Thanks!
545 BT is no longer plentiful in the world, they nerfed the spawns like crazy a few days ago.
Now all you can find is 545 T and rarely boxes of BP.
I Test it sell parts, and they give you the same money than sell it all togheter
To the same trader yes, issue is mechanic won't buy bad durability lowers
I ran into a speedhacking playerscav last night not killing other scavs/pmc's but casually flexing his speedhack and probably (loot-)esp (kept looking weirdly into directions), I wonder if BSG are aware this is still an issue that needs to be adressed. Edit: I regret going USEC this wipe, so much BT/BS ammo spawning, I even have 7 stacks of igolnik at lvl 9...
Ya they are very aware of the cheater issue. It gets bad at the very start of the wipe due to increased rmt transactions, they are working hard to prevent it I'm sure!
