- While the 2024 election campaign is dominated by polarizing communal debates, the real issues facing India keep being side-lined. In this video, I focus on the deplorable state of our cities: poor infrastructure and planning, trash on our streets, and exorbitant housing costs. From Mumbai to Delhi, our urban environments are failing us. Join me as I explore why our cities are in such a dire condition and what we can do to demand better living conditions. Why does your city suck, and what are you willing to do about it?

Once I thought about how Singapore became such successful country and wondered why India which has similar problems can't solve them, then i realised that it was easier for Singaporean people to accept each other's nationalities and thrive together, but here in India we can't even accept the people of different caste/religion/ background whatever. It all starts with us citizens of this country, untill we become broad minded, our politicians will live on to loot us. The worse thing is that in our country people don't realise that those loans taken up by politicians that didn't make any progress but some how the funds landed in their pockets, ya all that lost funds , we have to pay them not those politicians.

Singapore is still almost a predominantly Chinese (75%-80%) racist country, which has developed a series of national strategies to keep the Chinese percentage above 70% for a long time to come, and regularly receives immigration of high quality Chinese talent from China. Similarly, Hong Kong's Chinese percentage is 95%, Taiwan's 98% and Macau's 94%.
These countries and regions have predominantly Han Chinese populations and rank 1st, 3rd, 5th and 11th out of 46 countries and regions in Asia in terms of GDP per capita. China (92% Han Chinese) ranks 20th among Asian countries in terms of GDP per capita. India ranks 37th out of 46 Asian countries.
One of the main reasons for racial harmony in singapore is the government's violent crackdown on racism in the early days. They have strong meritocratic policies and anti racism laws. Anyone who makes statements or do something that disrupts the nation's racial and religious harmony were and still are jailed or expelled from the country.

They lack any awareness about how their local municipal council works. Infact, most migrants strictly stick to the rules in the fear of being outcast and bullied. Amazing work! This was such a well researched and delivered video. I hope this reaches more people and we can work towards making India the best it can be and give it the respect and care the people deserve.
Hats off to the research done for the video. Really informative!!
For a country of 1.4 billion people, there is literally 0 cities in India which I could say would even compare with a tier 3 city in the west. Thats the sad reality. Bad infrastructure, bad traffic conditions, no walkable and cyclable cities, thrash everywhere you go, worst air quality, and the highest weather temperatures in all of the world. There are literally no redeemable qualities in any of the Indian cities
Hum China se jyada aage hai, developed hai 😂😂😂😂

We need to develop small cities and mive population out of big cities. Smaller cities are easier to keep clean.
Not just very informative, but a very emotional too in a way. Great Work Mohak. Keep Up.
This is really good man. I have been talking about this over the years most people dont even care these days
I remember visiting Shimla in 2014, and I was surprised to see that throwing garbage would result in a ₹500 fine and the action and responsibilities that people took amazed me. Never thought I would see that in my country. A similar attitude would be beneficial for the other cities as well
Yes. Sikkim is very clean too.. Kochi, Indore, chandigarh also clean.. if these people can care about this, why others can't? We need some strict rule for cleaniness.
Smaller states have better governance. Bigger states should be reorganised ASAP
@@RupsD319 chandigarh is decent but it has air pollution issues tbh
I'm glad you are talking about this issue, I've been talking about it to my friends and family, i had delivered a speech in front of my class and the topic i chose was "How badly planned Indian cities are?" I emphasized on pollution, traffic, lack of sidewalks
There is a street in Ranchi where thousands of students of age 8-18 pass by and there is no sidewalk for them, the roads are filled with trash and no one does anything
And when i tell people why our country is doomed they call me anti-national, if i tell someone to throw the waste in the trash can instead of railway platform they'll say "hame kya ye saaf karna govt ka kaam hai" I'm so sick of it i wanna leave India and flee to a country with better living conditions ASAP
"when i tell people why our country is doomed they call me anti-national" exactly bro... I get that a lot too and I hate it so much.
hating your country isnt anti national at all. if your parents hit you, does that mean they hate you? a true nationalist will point out the flaws instead of ignoring them. i dont blame you for wishing to move out of india at all, if you work hard you will. i also feel like our country is doomed, but i will be consider ed
"anti national"
very true. apparently, we should defend our mistakes. That's just stupid. India is pretty much gone right now and i don't think its gonna change soon.

So true! So thankful you posted this. We Indians are a very selfish group of people. We don't think of ourselves as a community, sadly. Or, even if we do, we're too much blinded by our castes that we hardly look beyond them. Cleanliness is not something that we're taught since childhood. You see - ever since we're children, our mothers do the job of cleaning up after us. They clean our beds, our tables and our rooms. They also manage the cupboards for us. We're not taught to do all this on our own. How do you think we'll ever get that in our ethics? We can't, in this fundamentally flawed cultural system. And we're selfish because no one wants to do any work that impacts other families - trash being one example. No one wants to get the trash lying around cleaned up because everyone's like why should I? It's not my responsibility.
Anyways, one thing I can say is that things are gradually changing. The new youth is more aware of the impact of their behavior, and at least in my friend circle, I hardly see anyone who doesn't look after their surroundings.
All Indian cities are on ventilator. Even Bengaluru, which was comparitively a paradise just 20-30 years ago is in a pathetic condition today. No water, overpopulation, terrible roads, 0 sewage and waste management, overall just disgusting.😢
Politicians have mainly just wreaked havoc due to their corruption and inaction.
We need to develop more cities in the north so that everyone doesn't just move to the south... because of migration cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai are on life support.

Previous generations who procreated mindlessly are to blame for this. They have blood on their hands. Due to this, the life of the average person in this country is simply not worth living.
Disadvantages of this extreme overpopulation:
1. Toxic and hypercompetitive education system that only focuses on marks.
2. Overcrowded classrooms, roads, hospitals, parks, public places, tourist places, etc.
3. Road accidents and road rages.
4. Unavailability of bus and train tickets, even during urgency.
5. No footpaths on most roads, severely restricting walking space.
6. No parking space due to which half of the road space is occupied by parked vehicles.
7. Rise of obesity in young Indians due to the unavailability or overcrowding of parks, open spaces or recreational centres.
8. Young Indians preferring to stay indoors because of the depressing crowd outdoors.
9. Auditorium-sized classrooms with 250-300 students preparing for competitive exams which have less that 0.5% selection rate.
10. Severe unemployment causing huge stress to students and young adults during their prime years and prompting them to take extreme steps.
11. Low, meagre salaries even when you are overworked because you are easily replaceable.
12. Rising obesity, diabetes and heart diseases because people only think about their careers.
It's madness all around.
Not related to this video, but when someone tries to implement a healthy (or at least, healthier) lifestyle, the same Aunties and Unkils (they may even be just 15 years old) have the audacity to comment on all this as 'Dramma'. Bhai it is sooo true. We fuckin need Thanos.

Cleanliness is Godliness. As a devout hindu, I see even most of our temples are unclean. We don't respect our own belief that goddess Lakhsmi resides in clean places. People just want to do their part like showering flowers and milk, placing oil lamps, etc, without any care about cleanliness. A temple I visited recently had flowers, kumkum, strewn around, agrabatti placed at random corners. They just want to show that they are doing something for their own peace of mind. Nobody is thinking about the place, but themselves.
Plus calling cow a mother but abandoning her after she stops giving milk and leaving her to eat trash on the streets. Calling ganga the holy river but still trashing it.
Hypocrisy is filled in our veins!!
Yeah, people are too selfish, be it on the roads or be it in the temples. They just don't care.
Nice to get a better perspective of the problems and solutions of modern day urban india. Thank you for the insights
Good presentation! I've, for the first time, seen your video;appreciable!
We leave everything to our government. 😢
Goverments are there for a reason: they are supposed to be for the common good.
1. They can spend our taxes properly on issues that affect common welfare
2. If they create good infrastructure, awareness and laws etc, then public will maintain it
Otherwise, why do we need govt
breh
Everyone has a role in economy bro everyone can't just throw their jobs and become a smaaj sevak that's why there are goverment to look onto these issues it's their job I'm not sayin that we shoud dump everything on government but atleast we are trying everything to support that's on our lavel.
First thing : reduce Population
@@chad_male01not everyone can be a samaj sevak but the least they can do from their part Is to not throw trash around a place randomly or spite gutka just anywhere ,but sadly the people don't follow this too .Also the government can make laws about this, but people don't obey it anyways and the government also cannot lock up everyone who does this kind of activity in the jail. So in India, what is most important that the people should themselves have the civic sense to keep a place clean ,if they do it then the government's job becomes easier in keeping a place clean
Thanks for bringing this. A larger group here in India is concerned about infra and cleanliness. But they never talk about it and end up leaving the country itself. As Mohak said , we should make it a topic.
I really like your videos Mohak. At least someone is giving a thought to these problems. Kudos👏
Thank you, Mohak and team for this video. This needs to be highlighted.
I live in Indore. I have lived in Mumbai for 13 years. I sometimes cannot believe how drastic is the difference between the two places on level of cleanliness. BUT, even in Indore, despite all the efforts by the government workers, some people are still throwing their trash on the roads. It is not a government or political problem, it is simply some people of the city who don't have enough brain cells to understand how to keep their surroundings clean.
