- Before there was K-Ci and JoJo there was Jodeci. And, before Jodeci there was Little Cedric and the Hailey Singers. Monroe, North Carolina natives Cedric "K-Ci" Hailey and his younger brother Joel "JoJo" Hailey came together with several others to form a gospel singing group stemming from their experience growing up and singing in church. Participation in music was a forgone conclusion for the siblings. After all, their parents were gospel singers. The brothers’ musical influences ran the gamut from traditional gospel, such as Shirley Caesar to genre-extending gospel artists like the Winans. K-Ci, or Little Cedric, as he was referred to back then, was also affectionately dubbed the Michael Jackson of Gospel.

To say Jodeci helped define 90s R&B is an understatement. Regardless of their personal history, their music remains timeless. I still bump Diary Of A Mad Band and Freek N U till this day.

K Ci and JoJo definitely were the voices of Jodeci. I remember watching their reality show a few years ago and it was really sad just seeing the toxicity and decline of K Ci and JoJo.
The Hailey brothers were indeed the voice of JoDeCi, while the Degrate brothers wrote, produced, arranged plus played instruments. Jodeci was a self contained group

Yeah..as a Monroe, NC native in my 40's I can concur that K-Ci was doing Mary wrong in ways y'all could never imagine. I was a teen when I saw her strung out/passed out on a neighbors couch. I'm glad she got sober and bounced back!

Gotta give K Ci and Jojo their props as well as the other members of Jodeci!! I got the privilege of seeing them in concert on the Culture tour in the spring 2022 and they set the stage on🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!!!! K Ci's voice was impeccable!!! They haven't missed a step!! Love these brothers!!❤❤❤

I play Jodeci every single day, and it lives rent free in my playlist. The music exudes love and passion. On Cry For You, the way K-CI was expressing his love for his woman for leaving for an hour. Lord! He even called on Jojo to help him sing in that track.

I saw them perform at an Indian casino a couple of years ago. KC was so loaded that they had to literally CARRY him off the stage. And JoJo couldn't hit his notes to save his life. So sad 😞
Well things have definitely changed. My brother saw them in concert a month ago on their tour and he stated that they were amazing! He was shocked 😳

@@reneewashington4107 yes I'm so proud of them both. Kci still got it, but my Jojo lost his voice sadly. I always preferred Jojo's angelic voice over Kci's, so it's heartbreaking to know he didn't treasure his gift.

I was a huge fan of theirs back in the days.
K-Ci and Jojo have some of the most soulful male voices in the industry. I had forgotten just how much they were ruling the scene in the late 90s. I loved the song "Life" and still play it pretty frequently. Takes me straight back to 1999 and growing up in the house me and my mom stayed in at the time out in the country. I've always wondered why Jodeci itself initially disbanded though. I consider them the quintessential R&B boy band of the early-mid 90s.
All my life is a classic '90s jam, that takes me straight back, to when I was leaving junior high, & transitioning into highschool! Good times!!!

I’m glad they’re both still here and doing very well in life. Both are married with kids and grandchildren and happy . Kci and Jojo along with Dalvin and DeVante defined an ERA ! You cannot bring up RnB and not talk about Kci and Jojo or Jodeci as a group 🙌🏽God truly had them protected because most ppl couldn’t survive that journey of alcoholism. Plus I commend Kci and Jojo sharing their experience unfiltered on their show. I remember that. God bless them both 🙏🏽

I'll be here all day long talking about Jodeci so I'll keep it short & sweet. When they first came out, they took everybody by storm. *EVERYBODY* loved Jodeci. They were fresh, new and just too dope. Mr. K-Ci Hailey and his sangin' self. I just love the way he used to sang. I loved his soul, flavor and charisma. Who didn't have a Jodeci poster on they wall? I mean, c'mon nah. Anyway, my favorites ended up being _My Heart Belongs to U_ and the video version of _I'm Still Waiting._ I absolutely love they debut and sophomore LPs, but I never fully gravitated towards they 3rd LP (just the singles and a few cuts). Something about it didn't click for me. And it still doesn't today. Nah, the K-Ci & JoJo chapter of they career was a smooth ride for me. I enjoyed a lot of those songs. I have strong feelings about _All My Life_ because it's attached to school dances and love letters. I have a box of love letters/notes that I'll never get rid of. _All My Life_ is everything that I love about the 8th grade. Whenever I hear it, I get sorta teary-eyed because I'll never forget the first slow dance I had to it. It felt like a dream. Nah, as far as the LPs are concerned, I ain't even gon hold you, I don't have strong connections to them. I'll have to go back and revisit them someday. For nah, Imma go and listen to _Ride & Slide_ and _What About Us._

I remember watching that show where K-Ci denied his engagement to Mary. It was a British show called The Word. It was the only show where us Black Brits could see the artists we were interested in.
After K-Ci denied their engagement, I really believed him, I thought it was really a rumour until Mary came on the show a little while later. Her reaction made me realise that K-Ci was lying. I felt so bad for her. She must’ve felt so embarrassed.
