Tired of a lot more powers than just the U.S., actually. But it's been like this for all of recorded history. Mankind is nothing more than a species of monkey that became able to write things down and accumulate information and build and build on it for millennia. Many of the the biggest epochal changes in human history and culture were driven by written exchanges of information and ideas made possible by improvements in mass communication. With each of them, we also began killing one another at greater scales. Nukes and MAD have made us crap our pants in a somewhat unique manner for the first time, but I'm sure we'll get used to the idea of nuclear warfare soon enough (especially if anyone becomes confident enough in nuclear superiority). Competitiveness wins out in the end, and that always involves a lot of useful lies, from organized religion to rewriting history to propaganda to doctoring images and much more. If a side has to downplay its hypocrisy and violations to rally under a sense of moral superiority, then it either will, or it will be at a competitive disadvantage. For much of Europe, that's done by simply letting the U.S. do most of the dirty work, since a much larger country's greater internal unity allows it to much more easily take efficient large scale action, while pretending to be better, ignoring their own histories and existing as part of the same closely knit economic and political sphere. Try to extract yourselves, suffer the maladies, and see how long people last before they drop the pretense and start to embrace the mean world of realpolitiks that they were happy to think themselves morally separated from. Compartmentalization is the first refuge of the hypocrite... loosely speaking.

Zelensky the guy in the Panama papers buying homes all over the world and sending 21 year old men to die on the front lines. Nuland basically said they had been planning the destruction and dismantlement of Russia by using Ukraine. Russia had no choice.

Hi Micheal and Aaron, It's great to get your news and views. In regards to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The war started way before February 22'. In 2014, the war had already begun on the ethnic Russian Ukrainians in the east of the country after the vote in Crimea, which I watched diligently. The position of Ukraine is not looking good currently. I feel for the people as the government is showing that it doesn't care for the people. If they did, they would come to a diplomatic solution instead of sending them to their deaths on the front line.
Arron seems a tad naive on the Ukraine v Russia conflict.
I was watching the black chap being tazered whilst cuffed and looking at all the bystanders just recording it on their phones and I though geez there is only three cops and those cops would probably be set upon by an enraged mob in Australia and NZ and the victim freed with public opinion divided on whether or not the cops got a richly deserved roughing up. Then the shot pulls out slightly and there is a fully militarized cop with an automatic weapon literally covering the onlookers and I thought fuck me, the police force in the US really is an occupation and compliance force.

I think that is a fair point Aaron makes, think about the Iranian protests a couple of years ago. There were certainly more serious things such as protesters being executed but the general response to street protests by the Iranian authorities was a lot more thoughtful and respectful of public opinion than what went on at Emory University !!

Now the U.S. is on the verge of losing its position to China. It could take China's advice, and work together, or it could use intimidation, sabotage, and brute force. Given the lessons of history, it's not too hard to guess which path it will likely choose.

I’ve never protested physically about abusing in my life before (a bit of apathy I’m afraid) but I have started to attend demos against the genocide in Palestine, even though I’m now in a wheelchair (I’m 63 and disabled). I am horrified by what is happening and if any of this happened to the groups I’ve been with the way it has happened to the people protesting in the USA it really wouldn’t stop me do it. Come and get me uk police.
