    I've been waiting for fourty years for someone to run this exact test. In 1982 I raced my Reliant Rebel against a Minor from Telford to Lichfield. I lost. I've always maintained this was because of the Moggies superior grunt out of roundabouts and now, finally, you've provided me with definitive proof that I was correct. Thank you.

    Despite never having had a criminal record, and being a boring sort of a chap, around 1981/2 I was arrested for robbing a local post office with an accomplice (he was in the Isle of Man at the time watching the TT and had the tickets to prove it) and making my getaway in blue Morris minor that had been stolen from a nurses car-park in a nearby hospital. Although not 'hard' in any way and feeling very scared to be accused of such a thing, I laughed out loud when the Copper claimed I'd made my getaway in the Minor. As I explained to him, if I was going to do such a thing, I'd have stolen a 2.3 Cortina or some such other quick but bland car, not a motorised bath bun. Needless to say, they soon dropped their investigation into me and to this day, I can't understand what 'intelligence' led them to my door. Now I work for the buggers lol, (different Force though).

    @crashbox7130 Před rokem +4

    My 1932, vintage Morris Minor two-seater doesn't get to 60mph. The 847cc side-valve (SV) engine, an evolution of the original 1928-1931 overhead cam (OHC) unit, produces 19bhp. With a 3-speed 'crash' gearbox it has an official max speed of 52mph, but I've eased off at 49mph. I generally pootles along at 40-45mph. The Alec Issigonis post-war Minor was named after the pre-war version, with the 1935-1948 Morris Eight being book-ended by the two Minors.

    My old Moggie was the same color(Trafalgar blue),but the resemblance probably stops there! Significant mods to the engine(948 ccs),and A35 13 inch wheels and radials,for starters. Done gradually,as finances became available,it got a stage three head,three ring camshaft,Sprite valve springs,double row timing chain and gears,a three branch manifold,with a straight through exhaust,and a pair of inch and a quarter SU carbs with modded needles,blue springs,and light oil in the dash pots. Never timed the zero to sixty,but the Speedo needle would go past the indicated eighty max on the dial,and continue past the fuel gauge,until it was hard against the BACK of the zero pin,trying for a second time round! Eventually died from a broken crankshaft.With hindsight,I should have strapped the centre main bearing,but ,at the time I thought balancing the crank was sufficient.Bad move!🥺 Still,it was great fun while it lasted.

    Heckled by a locomotive, but at least it wasn't raining.
    A mate of mine recalls pulling up at the traffic lights decades ago and hearing the sound of an ENV preselector gearbox (in neutral these sound like a mildly concerned chicken). He looked around expecting to see something pre-war, but no, it was a 'Minor fitted with a preselector and a Riley 9 engine. For the record that would probably be 28bhp, down to 20 after the gearbox and diff had taken a share. Slow but probably unique.

      Thanks for watching! I have tried many combinations to start it, always needs a good few pumps, never starts on choke alone.
