He was the greatest drummer the Cure had!
Ejem? Andy Anderson
True.
@@Reprodestruxionboth.
Boris is till the greatest drummer The Cure ever had. I miss him so much.
Boris is class. Best drummer. Saw him in supermarket in Bath when working at music mags - in awe - wife noticed. Kindly gave an autograph! Top beats and tight drummer.
Best "Cure" drummer? That is an understatement. Boris is arguably the best Rock/Pop drummer to come out of the 1980's, period. He is legendary in the music industry. He is highly respected by his peers for being a world class studio percussionist.
Finally !!! Thank You ! There is no doubt about it this man took them too stadiums.... Boris Williams was one of the most important band members in this band's history.
best Cure drummer!!!. PERIOD.
Boris is a Giant!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant drummer. Even when he just hits a snare, it sounds better than anyone else.
Boris was the best Cure drummer hands down. I have a ton of respect for Jason, but he's robotic in his playing whereas Boris plays on heart and instinct. Boris' drumming has a more free flowing, natural feel to it where Jason feels as though he's playing in a lock box.
Boris was the perfect drummer for The Cure and the best in the band's history. Perfect match! Everything changed when he and Porl/Pearl departed. The long drum patterns, the good drum sound, the great intros like WCIBY, IBD, Torture, JLH, etc) were gone forever.
I heard this interview some years ago on Soundcloud and I couldn't be more happy as to hear Boris is very rare occurrence. Thanks for sharing.
I miss his signature drum taps when he played drums in the cure, like on the same deep water as you as an example Boris is a brilliant drummer .
I love Boris ❤
As a long-time Cure fan and also being a drummer myself, this was great to listen to. Thank you very much! 😀👍 And I can't remember having read or listened to an interview with Boris before either! Still my favourite of all the Cure's drummers 😊 *PS:* It would be reeeally cool to hear a similar thing with Simon Gallup one day, too! I've always wondered how he'd gotten into bass-playing and how he'd developed his style 😀
Simon would be amazing!!!!! Show the video of him talking because he's still hot!
Great to hear Boris great interview.
The best. Only he can play the drums
Boris (and porl) put the cure in the hall of fame
The Red Carpet interview was the best part 😁
Pretty sure it was more Robert and Simon but sure.
@@eboethrasher I feel that after wish the albums produced were of lesser and lesser quality.
he was a perfect fit for The Cure and the best drummer they ever had
thanks for sharing this!
boris is an excellent drummer - the best the cure ever had imo
My favorite drummer.
I still miss you so much Boris! The Cure created their best music with you 🖤
He's very soft spoken..... you'd never think he was with how hard he played those drums.
I do think he's the best The Cure ever had, but as a long time Cure fan, I have to say Jason is good too. Obviously, if Jason wasn't good, Robert wouldn't have hired him.
Maybe he's cheap? I think Jason is good and I enjoy his playing in conjunction with Simon. Today, he deserves more credit. He is a live drummer. He and Simon can put a lockdown on a song like nobody's business---a highly respected, world class rhythm section. Boris, on the other hand, is certainly more technical and innovative for studio work with impeccable timing, lending a great deal of character to the music. He is an ambitious risk taker and plays with finesse, something not normally found in Rock music. My impression is he and Porl were not challenged enough (i.e. restrained) and really didn't like the direction Robert wanted to take the band with Wild Mood Swings, so left. Robert likes what he likes. Maybe the Lol fiasco had something to do with it too. Who knows?
Jason's a great player too, i do believe he comes off worse on videos, I saw them live twice and he played marvelously each time
It just sounds a bit more flat and less '80's' than the wild and thunderous Boris did because of the period as well@@djscott9207
He may hit them hard BUT not too hard that he tries to take over - like most drummers (for some strange unmusical reason?)
lovely interview. ❤
Thank you for this!
Great interview! Thank you!!
Awesome!
Best cure drummer
He's a world class Rock drummer, up there with the very best of the era. Probably the best drummer to come out of the 1980's. Period.
Great drummer and he's vegan. ☺️
We miss you Boris!!!
Please come back!!
Boris quit. Jason has been in the band since 1995. 28 years. Boris was in the band for 9. Give it up already FFS.
@@eboethrasher Can you blame them? The 9 years Boris was there, the Cure blew up internationally and sold out stadiums. It's been some tough sledding since then. We all wish those glory years could go on forever
@@applebutter4036 Very well said
Anyone else notice that the conversation is going forward, but the tape is rewinding..? lol
It's an Auto-Reverse deck...
Andy Anderson
2nd best
@@djscott9207 actually the trendsetter much like John McGeoch on guitar
