    Oh man! So glad you are on the mend. I don’t want to sound like a commercial but we did three things to help us if we were in that type of emergency situation. 1-we take turns driving so we can both move the rig. 2-we joined FMCA because one of the perks is FMCA Assist which includes getting a driver to move your rig if something happens to one or both of us. 3-we joined MASA with a one time fee (no ongoing payments) that will cover all transportation costs beyond your normal health insurance coverage while we are on the road or at our home. It was a one time cost for lifetime coverage. It covers ambulance and emergency air-lift flights. I have been praying for you guys since I saw the short video on the emergency. I hope the steps we did might be helpful to you!

    We are so glad that Chris is returning to normal. You can tell he's still not 100%. His voice sounds a little weak. But his coloring is very good and he seems to be back to almost his normal self which is what we love to see. Next time Chris and Bob will have to coordinate if they decide to try to go down this road again. Katrina, but I think you and I are not going to let them lol. So grateful that you guys are okay. I am so glad to hear that you are doing ok Chris. I have learned so much from you both. My husband and I will be start our fulltime adventure within the next year. We are in the purging stage and trying to finish our remodel of the kitchen so we can rent our house out. We have found a possible Veteran that is in need of a home so hoping it works out otherwise we will be renting to military families. As I have been doing so much research before our full time, I had not thought of medical hospital in case of an emergency for us only for our pets that will be traveling with us so thank you so much for all that you share. Another item to add to my list. 🙂 I hope you heal quickly Chris and again, thank you Katrina and Chris for sharing all your wonderful adventures and lesson's learned.

    Chris this is a primary time to teach Katrina how to do your hookups and disconnects. Good time for her to learn how to drive the rig also since your down for a while. Make a checklist for her to go by. Even video it for to refer back to on the hook up and disconnects.
    As far as driving remember to swing wide for turns and watch that tail swing. If your turning right the tail is going to swing out to the left and just the opposite for a left turn. If you take your left foot and place it on the floor of the driver's side you will find a flat or raised area. That area is place by the manufacturer to tell you where you left wheel is. When driving I tell my students to be checking there mirrors and gauges.
    As a commercial truck instructor there are a ton of things to teach a person. One thing I always tell them is always drive with reserve power Incase something happen like a blown steering tire. And don't get on the brakes.
    Currently I am teaching my wife how to drive our HDT and 43' Toyhauler. Total length is about 75'. I started her on a set course I designed to build her skills. Started with right turns and then progressed to left turns, getting on and off freeways. As for backing training big open areas.
    Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion"

dump tanks, connect/disconnect utilities, and drive
and he needs to know how you store stuff inside for a travel day, or how to find cgs, whatever is not his typical role. My dh keeps telling me I don’t need to drive, and I insist, oh yes I do! Thanks for the video, glad everything is ok.

    MAN! Talk about scaring someone at first sight on this video.... you all definitely freaked me out!
    I'm glad you're alright. And I'm glad you all have insurance!
    There's nothing like something like this to happen on the road but on the other side of the road..... many people make their decisions to travel and see the world because we ain't getting any younger sitting in the lazy boy or girl chair!
    So, my hats off to you all for doing what your souls desire and God will take care of the rest along the way!
    On a lighter note but important one as you have mentioned.... Being Prepared.
    The biggest thing I've noticed about this RVing full time lifestyle is that one person has their chores to prepare the rig for travel and one has the other chores to prepare the rig. And more often there's only one person who knows how to prepare and maintain everything on the rig and that includes all those wonderful liquid storage tanks down below.
    So with all that said..... this is what we did for the unexpected situations when one's sick and the other is healthy to work and maintain the rigs needs to maintain our lives.
    First thing I did was..... draw the steps that I would physically do in order to get the rig road ready. Unplugging this, Unplugging that, turn on this and that and what needed to be turn off and so on. The power systems.... generator hook up, solar power hook up, landline hook up.... and so on.
    I made detailed drawings on each step on everything and laminated the papers with clear packing tape and we store those in a safe dry place.
    After the blueprints were made..... we did drills..... and I watched and advised.... and we did more drills.
    Now, today? If I asked my wife to get things together..... she'd first scratch her head to remember where the blueprints were stored. But I think she'd do alright with it as long as she was calm, cool and collected. If I died, she'd be searching for the bus title..... LoL! Because I am... My bus's Master!
    Glad to hear that your dog found a new temporary friend. They are so connected to us and I'm sure he was stressed about his master as well.
    Blessings to you all! Roll On.....

      @oureverydaygetaway  Pƙed rokem

      Thanks Dean! As you know we've had our share of situations this last couple weeks. Love the way you put together detailed drawings and lists for your wife. I have no doubt I can do it just need to practice. Tucker ate very little the couple days Chris was in the hospital. They can definitely tell when something is wrong. He's a happy boy now that his Dad is home! Blessings to you and your family!

    • @DeansofNomadica
      @DeansofNomadica Pƙed rokem

      @@oureverydaygetaway Glad to hear the good news! There's a video you all did and I can't remember which one. Tucker was in the back seat sitting in the center of the two front seats. And one of you was talking to him and the way he tilted his head.... just went straight to my heart. Yes indeed.... our pets have senses that many people should strive more often to replicate to benefit others.
      I don't know if the doctors stressed to you all about the resting and healing period after the surgery. And since I only doctor everything except human bodies. If the doctors cut through muscle tissue which usually prompts them to require rest and healing time. Much sure Chris isn't hard headed about it and do physically things against the doctors recommendations. I stress this because Chris doesn't want to experience in the future the pain of scar tissue damage due to doing things he should've been doing.
      Just a back story about that. When my intuition kept bugging me to tell my bus garage boss that he needed to go to his doctor and get checked out as soon as possible. The doctors discovered a bad kidney and tumor on it and it was only working at 20% capacity. They had to remove it. His doctors told him 8 weeks and do absolutely nothing but rest. I was thankful for many but one reason in particular.... it was a opportunity to clean up a pack rats garage and organize all the useless things laying around! So, I'm hustling for two weeks straight and he arrives at the garage! I say, "what the heck are you doing here"? He was puzzled in the face.... so I hit him with another set of powerful words. I said, "you need to get the hell out of here and don't come back until your doctor says it's okay"! He asked why and I told him about the scar tissue pain. He knows now why I said that and blames himself for not listening to those recommendations from those who care about him. Nevertheless, he's alive and enjoying all his grandchildren because it wasn't too late for me to speak up so he could get help.
      All's well.... and he loved what I did for him and the garage.
      Please make sure he gets rest.
      You love to shop so go buy him a pair of sneakers with velcro laces!
      Blessings to you and all your family!

      @@oureverydaygetaway In regards to the bus boss, the truth of the matters was he did wonderful thing's for me too.
      Kind and wonderful things happened quite frequently with us. He's the kind of fella that was rather neutral about God and spiritual stuff that quite frankly is invisible to most people until something happens which proves it exist in the form of a miracle kind of thing. And both him and I were witnesses to that miracle and it really changed his thinking about stuff like that. This video link is part one of the story and part 2 really talks about the miracle but I can only link the part 1 right now... it shouldn't be hard to find the second part. Titled: Those from Heaven aren't deaf. It's really some crazy stories when I was a campground manager.
      czcams.com/video/NNOXEpHzm6Y/video.html
      Just a quick story about this bus boss named Michael. Thirty five years or so before I showed up on the scene. He was a young healthy tow truck driver from Fairfax VA. Him and his boss were in a tow truck going northbound on I-270 in Montgomery County Maryland and noticed a customer's heavy-duty truck broke down on the southbound side of 270. Obviously years before cellphones existed, so they decided they were going to pick it up on the way back to the Fairfax yard. They pulled over and both of them were underneath their customer's truck hooking it up. Michael looks and sees a car coming towards them out of control and it slammed into the truck they were underneath. As Michael is pinned under the truck and unable to move, he's watching his boss taking his last breathe. I won't write all the details on the bodily injuries but it was bad.
      Doctors said Michael wouldn't walk again but he definitely proved them wrong. Working on buses is very physical and this guy has done it for many years.
      Every year around the anniversary date of that terrible incident, I could always tell because of the way he acted. The accident was the reason for his limp walking style. But one year, he shows me all the details written down on the original police report. So, before I started studying the report I asked Michael, "was your boss a bad man who did bad things to people"?
      And without hesitation he says, "Oh Yeah"! I said, "okay just wondering". So, I'm going through the report and I noticed something VERY interesting about his boss and the driver of the car who slammed into them. But before I told Michael what I found I said to him, "Mike I want you to know that you got caught in the middle of two bad people and this incident had nothing to do with you and had everything to do with these two guys" so please never blame yourself for what happened. Mike was puzzled by what I said and asked why I thought that. I replied, "because your boss and this drunk driver were born on the same month, same day and same year"! And Mike never knew that before I pointed it out.
      Blessings to you all!

    Thanks you for sharring your story. This may sound crazy, but please google PHD diet, or Proper Human Diet. This has helped me to an extent I cannot describe. Have been following a version of this diet for 3 years and it is amazing. It may be considered a weight loss diet, but it really is a health optomizing diet. You do not limit calorie intake, just the foods you eat. Consider it for your health concerns going forward. Also, consider adding OX Bile as a supplement since you lost your gaul bladder. This seems to have helped may wife since she also had her gaul bladder removed. Good luck with your health. We do not need a comment, this is just sharing health information on our part. If you want more information, feel free to ask.

    I am a retired (to full time RVing) respiratory therapist from Colorado Springs and worked closely with Flight for Life on a regular basis for many years. It was great to see the transport team in action again, but that's not why I am posting a comment. Last February I suffered an acute gall bladder attack. The Texas town we were in only had an emergency room. Fortunately, Corpus Christi Medical Center was only about 30 miles away; but many RVers like to be out in the middle of nowhere. There is a lot to consider here, but I would say know what to do should you suddenly need medical attention. Also, air transport is very expensive even for short distances, and Insurance coverage varies greatly.

    • @oureverydaygetaway
      @oureverydaygetaway  Pƙed rokem

      Until your in this kind of situation you really don't understand what kind of medical facilities are available to you while on the road. So fortunate everything worked out but still leaves us with questions about what to do in the future. Thank you so much for leaving a comment. Safe travels and enjoy any day you can getaway.

      @@oureverydaygetaway To be sure, I never really concerned myself with nearby medical services either. The ER just happened to be about 4 miles from the RV park. My wife wanted to drive me from the ER to the Medical Center in Corpus Christi, but the doctor said no and they instead took me by ambulance. My total out of pocket was about $1,200. I thought that was pretty good. I suspect my insurance would have covered most of an air ambulance, but I am not certain. Who worries about this kind of stuff until it happens?

It sounds like so many people were put in you path to help out where needed. Had to be hard not to be able to be with him. I'm not confident in driving our rig either. Flexibility is the key. In addition to checking on nearby places that watch pets during human medical emergencies, add the closest, quality emergency pet care center to your “must-do” list at the campsite. About a year ago, our ~3-year-old Cockapoo had a seizure (her first) at the campground. We we’re fortunate to find a really good clinic about 20 minutes away - and our pet is fine today.
    Stay well and travel safe!

    Hi guys, I'm Kim and I'm watching this 7 months later and I'm glad your ok Chris. I've been following your channel but missed this one. I guess because I started with more recent videos
    Hey though, Katrina, I don't recall seeing you drive the coach. Ya know I think I've heard you say more than once that you want to learn how to drive it. Katrina I drove all kinds of buses. Motorcoaches are the cadillacs of buses. Don't make this so scary. Trust me you can do it. My scariest trip was to NYC. The driver with me said it was like I put a bungee cord between his bus and mine. Your damn right I did. I was just a country girl in the big city and I was scared shitless.
    I had recently dyed my hair blonde so whipped on some pink lipstick and opened a stick of gum. At one point I was surrounded by yellow taxis. Ya know, being that big was great. You should of seen those taxis get out of my way. Trust me, if I can drive a coach you can too. Also out of the other buses I've driven, I feel safer in a coach.
    Katrina, actually you should scold yourself for not doing it sooner. You also should know how to tear down and setup . I'm sorry I'm not trying to be mean. Kim 😊

      @oureverydaygetaway  Pƙed rokem

      Chris very much appreciates your kind words about his medical conditions. Thank you. You don't see me driving the coach because Chris will not allow it. I think he's a little nervous I many show him up! đŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł Totally agree with you I should know how to set up and tear down the rig. That's on me. Would never take your comments as being mean. All is good! Thank you for taking the time to watch our videos and leave a comment. You are a Bad Ass! Love the blond hair and pink lipstick!! Take care and safe travels.

    Glad to see that Chris is doing fine now. My sister and her husband from Michigan were on a road trip with the car traveling to see family in Tennessee. They were driving the long way through a very out of the way area when my brother in-law started to feel like he was having a heart attack. My sister looked on phone which was in and out of service because of the mountains so it was very hard to get connected. They went to this very small hospital and they had to air lift him to another hospital to perform a heat stent procedure. It was very concerning and scaring for them. But yes people don't think of things like that so it would be a good thing to look up just in case?

    We write our cg info (or gps coordinates if truly boondocking)
for the event we need to call 911. There’s a good app (works without a signal) called Where Am I. And YES
you both need to know how to cover each other’s jobs
dump tanks, connect/disconnect utilities, and drive
and he needs to know how you store stuff inside for a travel day, or how to find cgs, whatever is not his typical role. My dh keeps telling me I don’t need to drive, and I insist, oh yes I do! Thanks for the video, glad everything is ok.
