  • FORTUNE FLAVOURS takes a trip out to the Dujiangyan Panda Base. A conservation centre near Chengdu. I spent the day as a volunteer cleaning out the enclosures, cracking bamboo, feeding the Pandas, making Panda cake and eventually having a quick cuddle.
This is the first time I have travelled completely alone, I knew a few phrases in Mandarin but despite this, I had a fabulous time in China, Chengdu was such a friendly place, I would recommend to anyone wanting a solo dventure.

For those of you who want to take part in this volunteering oportunity I would recommend booking your stay with the Flip Flop Hostel in Chengdu here...

and booking the activity through them via email weeks in advance of your visit.
You need to book in advance to avoid missing the opportunity as the places get booked up quickly.

May I know how much did you spend on the transportation and the volunteering opportunity?

I think in total it was 2500RMB/PP (£287.28). I would recommend booking with Flip Flop Hostel in Chngdu and staying with them. They are a great hostel and will arrange it all for you including transport form the hostel. It is a full day of volunteering and you learn so much.

Where do you apply this event ?

Hello Christina, I actually organised it with my hostel prior to visiting China. I am sure you could contact the centre directly but it is best to go through your hostel in my opinion because it is a long drive out of the city so they will organise a driver for you. Well worth it. I can recommend the Flip Flop Hostel in Chengdu
