Fun fact: if you watch all the Bob Mortimer appearances on wilty in chronological order you can see David lose his sanity in real time
"I'm not going to overrule my team", translation "I'm not going to disagree with my wife".
That's what I hear too, LOL
Bob mortimer would I lie to you will have you in stitches & amazement
Talking about making David crack
Look back through KB's videos - he's got a few reactions to Bob
@rld1982 ahh OK didn't realise thanks ☺️
@@tonybremner4424 no worries 👍🏻

Just to save you (or anyone else) looking.
There is a clip of David completely losing it with laughter over a sketch
It’s sort of an unwritten rule in WILTY when telling a truth that you are kinda allowed to tell little enhancements for comedic effect but the basic crux of the story is the truth 😅
You're not telling me the ace reporters of the Sunderland gazette in the 70s weren't actually called Caramel and Waffle are you?
@@BigAlCapwn I know right. It’s truly mind blowing 🤣
Victoria and David are very well matched - both smart and funny. She's also a television game show presenter, and is the daughter of Alan Coren, a well-known humorous writer. She's also a champion poker player. Check out the Mitchells vs Lee when David tells his story about moving Victoria's bookmarks...
Lee and David are good friends, so are quite at ease taking the piss out of each other
Yes, which should really be a flaw of the show given there can't be much interesting stuff either has done that the other one wouldn't naturally know about. We've seen this as the series went on like with this one which they've brilliantly managed to get hilarious material of of but is essentially just a mundane story about someone breaking a pot
@@BigAlCapwn yeah, they need to mix things up a bit...as team captains they are great and it's still amusing. The fact they as mates makes it get outlandish on the things they have to lie about. I broke a pot, got her a new one before she noticed...Still it's Lee mack and Mitchell :)
Heavy?
Yeah, it's pretty deep man.😂
The one where David Mitchell completely loses it was the episode where Nick Hewer and Rob Brydon share a jumper.
Love Lee Mack it doesn't matter what he's on he's so funny and quick witted xx
It's funny with comedians because you get some like Lee Mack who are perfect for the panel show format, but don't do that great at doing stand up (IMHO anyway). Then you get others, like Stewart Lee whose stand-up sets are works of art but he failed miserably when he tried the panel show format.
Then of course there was Sean Lock who was a master of both
I am stopping at 7.23 to say, no matter how bizarre, I think this is true. My mum had one coveted terracotta cooking pot in the 1970's and oh boy, cleaning it in anything but fresh water so as not to taint it was a chore! I have one now, the idea being you soak the pot in cold water for ten to fifteen minutes, prepare your food, and transfer the pot to a COLD oven, and allow the temperature to build, but it keeps the food inside succulent, with the food sealed, inside letting it do its thing. These pots come with rules! HA HA!!!!
The important thing to remember is that only what's actually written on the card has to be true. The rest can be completely made up.
I agree with you, and you put I far more coherently and concisely than my statement about that on here ! 👏👏😵💫😂👍
The way I've figured it out is that only the essence of the story must be intact. You're allowed to throw in any other nonsense as long as it's obvious that it's for comic effect and not really part of the story.
Quite, what often gets missed from the clips is at the start of the show Brydon informs the audience that the panellists don't know what is written on their cards. So because with lies they will literally be making everything up on the fly with no prep, it's levelled out by the fact that they can try to appear to be making up the stories around the truths. It would be a fairly easy game if they had to only stick to concrete facts in the latter case (plus a lot of the stories wouldn't actually be that interesting or funny, like this one which is just about a bloke chipping a pot)
You have to understand that Lee was making a lot of jokes in this. Not everything was 100% true. It’s a comedy panel show, not a police interrogation or a court trial. I’ve noticed a lot of Americans struggle to understand this concept and not be able to see when Lee or another panel member is making a joke and not being truthful or actually making it as part of their claim.
The another woman in bed was a joke, the I’m not even married was a joke, the grandmas ashes was a joke, the impression of his wife being unpleasant was a joke, the sweet spot was a joke, the size of the chip being massive was a joke and the glass of water shivering was a joke. Everything else that Lee said however was true. Unless I missed any jokes.
Exactly. And it's always irony that stumps them. I don't know why that is.
Plus.......Getting the right or wrong answer, scoring high or low etc is irrelevant. The quiz is there as a vehicle for the comedy and if each point has to be paused or broken down, then the flow of the comedy is lost. Just sit back with an oxygen cylinder and enjoy.
I love lees impression of his wife, how she’s horrible and shouts and screams at him so he’s a quivering wreck of a human.
If you want to see a rare instance of David Mitchell not only cracking but completely losing his shit, watch the WILTY clip called "Rob Brydon's Cuddle Jumper". Had me dying!
Yeh Lee's Ridiculously quick,and I'm sure he can't help himself a lot of the time,but he'll have a comeback/remark for EVERYTHING.....👀🤷♂️👏👏😂😂😂💜
the shocked gasp from poker champion Victoria Coren Mitchell when Lee reveals that it's true and that she failed to read his double bluff
When Lee is telling the truth he adds so much outrageous stuff to it that you can’t believe it’s true.
It’s fairly easy once you’ve figured it out. The more exaggerated the details are the more likely it is to be true, in order to sound like a lie. The lies are usually not that exaggerated in order to sound plausible. Human psychology. Also, the question about the pot being usable afterwards was pretty obviously something he had to recall from his memory. The body language revealed it.
Thing with Lee Mack, is that he makes things so ridiculously over the top(incredibly funny) that a normal person would think! "No way".
I think David Mitchell realises this.
Plus after all it's part of the game show, to throw the other team off, from the correct answer.
DAVID: I don't want to overrule my team. TRANSLATION: I don't want to argue with my wife.
I’d be brilliant at this show, im such a good liar. Or am I? Could be lying…😂
The story of David and Victoria is quite sweet. David pined after Victoria for several years, utterly besotted by her, but she was in a relationship with someone else so he kept it to himself. He used to drink, go out at night, and walk around London until the early hours of the morning just to get over his pain and loneliness. Eventually Victoria was single again, David plucked up the courage to ask her out, and they lived happily ever after, completely devoted to each other with two daughters. 😊
I thought you were talking about the beckhams before I watched the clip😂😂

Many of these people are just so good at this. Don't feel bad for getting it wrong again.
Check out Lee Mack on Graham Norton's show telling his anecdote about working in a holiday camp. John Cleese is another guest and he has him in hysterics.
Is that the same one as the "i can't remember the joke, so i go "anyone here from Kent?""
@@thanossnap4170 Yes.
Obviously Lee is embelishing it alot
It also works good in reverse though, like the time David told the story about his wife's book marks when they were on the same panel and Lee had to cross-examine them.
There are few comedians as quick witted as Lee Mack.
If like us Brits see this amazingly entertaining comedy programme for what it is, it’s a vehicle for some very talented comedians, tv personalities and sports people to simply entertain the viewer in this case it’s a tentative quiz format very loosely but unimportantly truth or lie almost irrelevant but if you don’t pause they do sometimes present photographic evidence, old pics of the instigator. I hardly care but revel in the interplay of the personalities and the TV programmers who can drop them in it with a terrible lie to defend.
Check out "Not going out"- Lee Mack & Tim Vine LMAO
Agree with this. I can recommend Not Going Out :)
Was funny when it started.
Victoria's dad was a very funny man. I don't think David ever knew him, as I think he died before they met. But what a pair they would've made.
I love it when Victoria is on. One of my favourite clips of them is from this same episode - 'how does David get revenge on Victoria?' czcams.com/video/RQ5tc895vP0/video.htmlsi=-4lDhZL_0ZJ1msXa
You’ve got to do some reaction to David Mitchell playing William Shakespeare in his series Upstart Crow. He’s hilarious. Harry Enfield plays his father and is often seen sitting on the lavatory in the sitting room.
Lee Mack must have kissed the Blaney Stone as he has Irish heritage.
His grandfather Joe was born in Southport, but was taken to Ireland as a baby and brought up by his grandparents in Ballina, County Mayo. Wikipedia.
You need to find an episode /clip of Victoria's brilliant quiz show "Only Connect". Addictive stuff.
Theres a second 1.from this episode were 1 of the mitchels has a secret the other doesnt know...well worth a watch
Same episode, about David moving Victorias bookmarks!
i forgot how funny Lee Mack is
Lee Mack is my favourite comedian with Sean Lock coming a close 2nd. They are both just so fast and naturally funny.
Hilarious video KB, great reaction. Lee Mack is a genius and his brain is definitely wired differently to the rest of us. Brilliant 👏👏👏
Check out Lee's bit on Irish names, amazing bit of comedy gold.
I'd love to see you continue with Not Going Out as every episode is just packed with his wit (one of the few comedies that are still made in the UK!)
Lee Mack is so quick and so funny
Hail The King, Baby!
Cheers KB, Lee Mack is so quick and (both) Mitchells are so funny as well! Brilliant! More, more more!
btw I believe it's only the initial line they read that needs to be true or false, they can add some jokes (and fibs) on and of course Lee always will (eg I'm not even married! lol)
You really would enjoy a TV programme called Porridge. It stars Ronnie Barker and is iconic TV
Absolutely brilliant
N
Lee macks story on graham norton is one of the funniest thing in years
they get a to have a bit of comedic licence with their answers... but I think its the actual answer on the card that they have to determine whether to be true or false... naturally Bob is the master of embellishing.
Yes, they embellish:)
I love Victoria's reaction. ❤
I watched your reaction to Not Going Out episode 1 and you seemed to really enjoy it, so how come you never did another one?
Please please watch the episode with the cuddlle jumper which rob wears !! If you really wanna see David lose it , ado mean LOSE IT with laughter then this is the one to watch
Plenty more where that came from . There are no bad episodes of WILTY . Lee and David really make the show .
Lee's quick wits can fool anyone.
Watch the video entitled 'David Mitchell completely loses it' by someone called Shaun. David reaches a Category 5-level loss of self-control.
I think David laughs a lot inside.❤
You need to watch the cuddle jumper one ❤😂😂😂😂
A common mistake people make when playing this game at home is thinking every detail of the story has to be true so often guess 'Lie' because the panellist said something clearly ridiculous when recounting it. So long as the main claim is true, they are free to embellish and downright lie in some cases when explaining it. Bob Mortimer is a good example as the names of the people in his stories are obviously fabricated (e.g. Caramel & Waffle)
David and Victoria are best friends with Lee and his wife, and even Victoria got it wrong, so don't feel so bad about this one dude.
Lee Mack was born and grew up in Southport UK where I live, and trained race horses as a stableboy in birkdale (1 mile away)
Lee Mack also does a comedy show called 'Not Going Out' which is very funny.
Yes it's very popular. It's actually the second longest running sitcom behind Last of The Summer Wine and that went on forever.
I think he did the first episode many moons ago
@@booradley8895 When The Saturn Moon aligned with Jupiter, Bringer of Joy...
I just binged it for the first time and it goes from him pining for her for 7 seasons and doing anything to get her - immediately to marriage councelling when they are together. Quite traumatising.
Not going out will always be in my top 5 or 10 comedy things
Only what is written on the card has to be true. Lee then creates his outrageous unbelievable tale that convinces everyone its a lie.
If this is one of the funniest things you've seen from wilty, you really should just watch the full compilations, they've got a majority of the best bits in one video.
I think you've got it spot on King Boomer. The contestant has to be truthful re the main point or incident of their story, but seem to be allowed to embellish or even lie about the smaller details. Btw, once you've got one right, I reckon you'll go on a good run of success for correctly guessing truth or lie , to a greater or lesser extent !! 👍👍
One thing about WILTY is the good players will intentionally make the story sound stupid as a double bluff. So all of the things he said were probably not true but the main part was, he broke an old pot and replaced it.
When it comes to WILTY, the general rule of thumb is that 90% of Bob Mortimer's and James Acaster's crazy stories are true, David Mitchell is so weird and socially awkward that his are 50/50... but 99% of Lee Mack's are a lie. This was part of his 1% 😂
If you're back on the WILTY train you should check out Henning Wehn, especially the interpol story.
Got to watch Bob Mortemer on this show
You should look up Lee mack... Drink driving.. Hilarious 😂
your reactions are great. i know you sometimes do films, can suggest "twin town" a terrific film set in my home town
The mouse one with Lee is funny.
You need to react to Geordie shore and ex on the beach they’re goated
He's going to need a translator for Geordie Shore. 😂
Lee Mack has a sitcom series on his page on youtube think u can react to, quite funny!
Brilliant. I can't blame you for that one.. I was right with you... True! Can't believe it. MORE! Surely Q will love it?
@King Boomer I think you're 0-4 because you're considering that everything they say has to be true. Only the original premise has to be true, but they can still tell white lies around the subject for comedy effect or to throw people off. Like he might not have tried to 'restore' the pot with a replica in 30 minutes, but he can add that to the story because it is absurd, and so a liberty is taken with how true the story has to be, but the statement at the beginning is the thing you're ultimately taking a guess on.
are you telling me that Caramel and Waffle don't exist?
Mate you’ve got to do Not Going Out. Forget series 1 tho!
Agree. Series 1 was shit.
Brill, thank you
The end was the best part. Why did he skip it?
You should try and get to see him live on stage he is fn hilarious sells out every arena he plays at you have to Google him on CZcams he never disappoints
Need to watch Lees stand up
Try The Sketch Show with a very young Lee Mack
that's Davids wife next to hom Victoria Coren Mitchell, she comes from a long line of literary and TV broadcasters and personalities and amongst her other attributes she is an International professional poker player and she's also the presenter on BBC2 of a fiendishly difficult quiz show which pits teams of highly competent quizzers against each other, it's called Just Connect
Her quiz is Only Connect.
And a champagne socialist.
I don't find it "fiendishly difficult." But I usually do well on University Challenge too. I remember her father, Alan, on TV frequently as a satirist.
@@davidbetts9332 don't care.

Lee Mack is fantastic... worth catching his sitcom, Not going out
Lee mack 'light speed' search that :) x x
You should check out Q.I you would love it 😂
Watch a serious called the sketch show it stars Lee Mack and Tim vine including others you will love it
errr.. Jurassic Park?? Not... you know, dinosaurs????
You seriously need to react to Lee Mack's stand up shows 👍
This is a prime example of why the American version of this show failed. We have hilariously talented team captains and chairman. Each with their own style of humour. Their camaraderie shines through with all the hilarious ribbing they give each other. This adds another level of humour to the show. From what I have seen of the American version all of this is absent, making for a boring sterile programme. If one of these guys is ever replaced the show would suffer badly.
If one of the captains were to be replaced I don't think it would become as bad as the US version, the big difference is UK comedians know how to rib each other and take it as a joke. The difference is the US comedians need to be the wiseguy in the UK comedians are fine with self-deprecating humor.
Don't feel bad, I also thought it was a completely made up story! I guess some elements were added for effect, though 🙂
react to "Not Going Out" lee mac & tim vine very funny
I can’t believe David is married to Victoria
8 out of 10 cats does countdown is better and Lee Mack is on it now :)
Bob Mortimer is still the King of WILTY 😊
This is the first time I’ve got one wrong.
Victoria Coren must be Alan's daughter?
David and Victoria Mitchell on this show... one titled Victoria doesn't know this
That's rob brydon.you need react to Gavin and Stacey.
why did you say you were never going to react to WILTY?
It happens. I said that I would never play in the same Baskeball team as Andy Bradbury during our School Sports period, after our incident, but I did in 1967 so you never know...
For WILTY, and seeing David Mitchell get upset, you really need to do Bob Mortimer clips.
Try to do them in order as there are spoilers for earlier ones in the later ones.
Gun fact David Mitchell's wife Victoria is a two time Poker Champion
*Fun*
