The Shadows - Theme For Young Lovers (Cover version played by Chris Hampton)

- Here is my version of "Theme For Young Lovers" which was originally recorded by The Shadows in 1964 and appeared on the soundtrack of the Cliff Richard film "Wonderful Life". It was written by Shadows rhythm guitarist Bruce Welch and was later recorded by Marlene Dietrich as "Ich Werde Dich Lieben" with lyrics written by her. The Shadows also re-recorded the piece in 1989 for their album "At Their Very Best"
I played this using my Fender Stratocaster with the Zoom G2.1Nu and Echoes From The Past (EFTP Patch B2). Recording was done via USB to my home PC with Cubase
The backing track was by the band Bungleflint featuring Phil McGarrick (random275) on rhythm guitar, Andy Davies on bass guitar and the late Richard Cooke on drums. I also used tablature written by Phil McGarrick and both are available as a free download from his website - www.philmcgarri...

Thank you for your very kind comments on this. It was one of the first Shadows tunes I ever learned and tried to make a recording of but the results weren't very good. I think this one is possibly my best one though as I got very close to the same feel of the original and their live version from the 2004 Final Tour DVD. Hope you're well and enjoying your weekend
