I have the Mexican GPCRSGT--Sapele and Fishman. Great all-around guitar. Great set-up from the factory too.

I'm just seeing this vid now, but very helpful. It's pushed me over the edge: picking up one tomorrow. :)

Just a little upset y'all spent more time talking about the shape as opposed to the tonewoods and the specific impact this back/side combo has on the overall tone and projection of this model

Did Quintin get kicked out for choosing the X-braced Taylor over the V? If so, I'm starting a kick starter petition to get em back.

So I like this tonewood combination but I don't care for the GP. Is there any chance you have a DCRSG hanging around you could do a quick review of?

Does anybody know what the style is called that he started playing around ~1:15?

great review, this road series has it right with the solid sapele bodies, nothing can touch them for the $.

I had one of these for just over a year. Nice sounding guitar but quality parts definitely not.
It spent most of it's time in the case as I kept going back to my j45 so over the course of the year didn't really get played very much perhaps 25 hours ish.
The belly developed a fat bow under the bridge so the action became high and there was a lot of fret wear especially at the cowboy end, fret wire metal must have been quite soft.
My j45 on the other hand spends most of it's time on a stand in the living room when I'm not playing it and I play it every day, there's no fret wear.
I recently traded the Martin GPCRSGT for a fender stratocaster pro and got about half what I had bought it for.
So disappointed as I expected better quality from Martin when spending a grand on a new guitar.
    Definitely sticking with my j45.

I've had one a couple years, maybe going on three and none of these issues. Too bad. It should stand on its own quality wise without any comparison to another guitar which even if these issues weren't present I'd assume the J45 would be a notch above.

I have basically the same guitar. It’s essentially a $600 Custom X series out of Mexico. Although I LOVE Martins and play them pretty exclusively, this guitar ‘ain’t yo daddy’s Martin’. It is in fact, a pretty dreadful 6 sting. However, I re-strung it as a Nashville Highstrung and wow, does it ring. It’s perfect as that tool in the tool box. Keep it as an option. A Martin highstrung. That’s the way to go.

Paul cracks me up.... he always sits there like a bobble head on my truck dash. Just funny, not criticizing.
