Hop on the PJ because we’re going to China this week as Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit Smallville Season 4 Episode 15: SACRED!
After they guys give props to the incredible set design we go back and forth over this Teague storyline coming to a head.
Tom remembers the effortless nature of Kristin’s ‘crouching tiger hidden dragon’ fight choreography, Michael remembers refusing to take his shirt off in front of Jensen, and our Hotline was buzzing with inconsistencies caught in this episode.

SACRED (S4E15) Kristin’s Crazy Fight Scenes, Smallville in Shanghai & The Biggest Plot Twist Yet! #smallville #talkville #season4 - Zábava
I love how when Clark mentioned Michael getting along with everyone, Bryce put in a quick clip of Michael Ironside...😂
Priceless!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Michael, Lex isn't the one who gave Lana and Clark the Luthorcorp jet to go to China, LIONEL did. Lex wasn't even aware of Clark & Lana coming to China. Lionel is also the one who set Clark & Lana up with that Chinese guide. Loved when Lana fell into Clark's arms in the street of Shanghai, these Clana stare moments spoke volumes! Tom and Kristin's chemistry was always beautiful to watch 😍
Best way I can describe Smallville is like a box of lucky charms. The marshmallows represent the most amazing moments in Superman history. And the cereal represents the odd moments. Does that stop us from eating it? Nooo! Because we know there’s more marshmallows!! lol The marshmallows made this my favorite show of all time! 🙌
Ever notice that the shapes of the Lucky Charms cereal pieces are almost the same shapes found in cat food?
wonderful comparison
@@chuckles9767lmao I love it! I feel like you’re tuning in because of Michael’s comments on the show? 😆 I’m a big fan of the cereal part too! 🙌 Makes him even the more perfect Lex 😆☯️
@@TalkVillePodcastyes! If this is Bryce I would lose my mind! Haha! Your comment made my day!
What a fantastic way to describe the show! Not that I've ever eaten lucky charms. Not sure we even get that cereal here in the UK lol. But I love marshmalllows.
You may already have this lined up, but I hope you guys have Jensen on for the season finale! He'd be the perfect guest and I'd love to see his take on his storyline haha
I think S4 had one fantastic new element that made people stick around, despite the plot being strained: Lois. To a lesser degree Jason as well, but the introduction of Lois just excited people and she was such a breath of fresh air we wanted more.
I love Jensen Ackles, supernatural is one of my favorite shows and I loved him in the boys. However, Jason is one of the most pointless characters ever. The whole story arc is pointless and terrible. I guess he does the best he can but he’s still part of the seasons low points, not high points.
@@TVFlix I totally see why you don’t like his arc overall, since it’s pretty obvious it changed out of nowhere mid-season when they knew Jensen would be leaving early. I hated the whole Isabelle storyline with a passion, but I do know that I, and many others, were ready to see an end to the constant Clana pining by S4. Jason’s inclusion at the start of the season initially gave me hope that the show was moving away from that, although it didn’t last.
Jason was boring ngl
In the first minutes I liked the introduction of Lois. But even in the first episode she showed up I beginning to think she was invasive and inconvenient. Later she became annoying to me... 😢
The most iconic thing about this episode, for me, were the Christopher Reeve homages. I think Al and Miles were looking for a proper way to say goodbye to him and his character and this was it. Hearing his voice one last time as he tells Clark to write his own destiny will always give me chills.
This touched me too....❤ 0:02
"Always getting along with everyone" and then the "General" appears 🤣🤣🤣
LMAOOO
Kristin was in her element for that episode she absolutely nailed that fight scene🔥I like the stones of power and Isobel Theraux storylines. I loved that it was a slowburn througout the season and how unpredictable and mysterious it was. I enjoyed watching these storylines unfold. This episode for me is one of the standoud of season 4.
Tom's explanation on the hidden kryptonite was really impressive haha
I understood the question as asking how kryptonite could be on earth before the destruction of krypton, since the explosion of the planet created it and it was basically radioactive pieces of the planet. Jor-el would possibly have been able to create synthetic Kryptonite as his planet's top scientist, but it still is a great question 👍
I hope you know that maybe not every episode was perfect it was the best superhero show ever made. The writing and it's execution by the actors left this a true classic cult or otherwise. Love you guys are taking time to do this for us old fans and all the new ones who are lucky enough to be exposed to Smallville.
That lana spin attack is the thing i remember most lol
Cuz Clark was having no more of the shenanigans and used his speed lol
not sure if same as what you're thinking of but Lana spinning up into the air always stuck with me because they included it in the "previously on Smallville" montage at the end of season 4, which is super fun and there's something about that shot that really represents "yep Lana had random kung fu witch powers this season" really well haha
I always called this episode "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Kryptonite"
😂
❤️ beautiful how they wove in a little tribute to Christopher Reeve, heartbreaking that he wasn't able to continue on the show as he had intended
Wishing Tom the best for a Very Happy 47th Birthday, this Friday! Thank you for "ten heroic seasons of Smallville!" and for four FANTASTIC seasons of TALK VILLE, Tom!
"Sacred" is a STRONG episode, so HAPPY that Tom loved it enough! In this one, "Rosenbaum's favorite storyline" explains itself a little more, and the Latin phrases from Michael are always AWESOME! Great scenes selected by Ryan! Thanks a lot for shouting out some of the important trivia! Nice to hear that the fight scenes were so easy for Kristin!
The Clark and Lana = CLANA scenes definitely deserve some good mentions, and enjoyed the comments about the airplane and the actual distance to China!
Congratulations To Geneva!
Smallville fight scenes are always brilliantly done.
Except for the one this episode.
@@stephenfox8685and the Doomsday fight in Season 8.
@@stephenfox8685 actually I thought it was rather good and dramatic.
@@KratosNotKratosright! like literally i looked away to sneeze and the fight was over! i actually scrubbed back 30 seconds cuz i thought maybe it buffered/skipped ahead (i mean it is hulu lol) and then still didn't understand what happened! like Doomsday goes loose in metropolis wreaking havoc (mostly off camera, smh!) and then Clark like what picks him up for one of his long-jumps (couldn't just let him freaking fly for a minute) and then pushes him underground at the nuclear plant or wherever they said, is that what happened? lol cuz I've seen that fight like 5 times and still didn't know what the choreography was supposed to be w out reading about it online, over several websites and reddits lol
annnd, not for nothing, but didn't Clark have a freaking AWESOME cage fight w that phantom-zoner? where was THAT for the Doomsday fight? my only explanation is that the scene had to be completely over-cut. they just edited it down too much and couldn't cut it back together after 🤷♀️🤦♀️
@@johnpage-tb6rei do think that the fight w Clark and Margarette-Isabel was pretty good actually. I do think the editing could have been tighter though. there was just a bit too much of relying on the audience to extrapolate information, for my personal taste. but to be fair that would have needed at least twice as many shots and probably an extra 60-100s of screentime that they prob just really couldn't afford w trying to squeeze all the stuff they did include. it was a pretty packed ep, and you can tell from the takes used that they edited down alot w Lionel/Lex and w Clark/parents (both scenes)
in one of my editing classes in school, a homework assignment was to do a 60s fight scene and that footage was AWFUL, they only used 1 cam! very hard to coordinate. so believe me I get editing fight scenes is a challenge. but this fight was pretty good, so I think they had the footage, they just prob got network notes to shorten it. but I do think it's one of the top scenes in the ep!
One of my favorites from season 4. A fun episode that has great Kryptonian lore explored via the Stones of Power. Lana once again shows off her witch infused magic/martial arts skills. Loved the swordfight between her and Clark. Nice bit of action for this episode. Tom and Kristin did it well.😀🙏🙏🙏🙏
You guys should definitely have Jensen on the podcast before the season ends! 🤘
This is one of my favorite episodes, the reason being is the different feel, and taking place in Shanghai, but also another thing is everyone does so well with their performances.
12:04 Love the Ryan ADR joke there! Perfect!!
Happy birthday Tom!🎉🎉🎉🎂 i know that this is early...😁and...i think that season 5 will be more enjoyable for Michael😃
season 5 is sooo good
@@showsjunkie yeees. I love S5🙂
I loved seeing the scene where Clark catches Lana while walking through the Shanghai,(thought the set was great) their chemistry is amazing. I also thought Kristin did a really nice job playing the Countess, especially with the choreographed fight. Thanks again guys ❤️
I love that moment too of Lana falling into Clark's arms in the street of Shanghai their chemistry was always beautiful to watch. Those Clark and Lana's stares moment throughout the series were the best!
@@vbrandy7088 Clark and Lana were a waste of time. Smallville was wasting a lot of energy on a ship that was never going to sail. Even Al and Miles admitted that they should've ended it by season 4.
@@44excalibur and you're telling me this because? 🤔 Your comment has nothing to do with the scenes we were talking about.
@@vbrandy7088 As someone who never watched Smallville while it was on the air, and binge watched it after the pandemic, I feel like the show I watched would have been a lot better if the writers had remembered that it was a Superman show and not a Lana Lang show, that's all.
@@44excalibur Smallville was a prequal to the Superman story not a Superman show. If the creators wanted to make a Superman show they would have started the series in Clark's adult life when he was already Superman. But the whole point of the series was to tell the stories of young Clark Kent before he reach that phase of his life. It's apparent that you didn't watch the show in real time because Clark and Lana's love story was one of the main reasons of Smallville success. The show wouldn't even have past season 1 without them b/c the series was built around their love story along with Lex and Clark's relationship. Sure there are people like yourself who hate clana but there are also a lot of people who love them. Clana being popular was one of the main reasons the writers spent almost 8 seasons on them. They would have never did that if Clana wasn't popular. Also Al and Miles original plan was for the series to go on for 5 seasons so they obviously weren't planning to get into Clark's Superman era. They wanted to tell these characters origin stories.
Clark had A crazy high school life.
Only in the DC universe
12:02 Very clever editing here, well done 😂
The dubbed/looped editing for "It sounded very ADR-ed" @12:02 had me chuckling. Very clever.
Yes. Is that a Bryce edit? It's like the classic kung-fu movies.
Really enjoyed the moment of Jor-El explaining the history of the stones to Clark and how they came to Earth. Such a great bit of intrigue. Also was nice to get a trubute to Christopher Reeve with the announcing of the passing of his character Dr. Virgil Swann.
@ nickhydier1201 me 2! Loved this episode. 3 roses 🌹 for me. Clark and Lana haven’t had too many scenes up to this point given their circumstances so it’s nice seeing them in a scene where they’re not having so much tension compared to earlier seasons with their on/off again romance. 🥰
Also loved the scenes with Jason, Lex and Clark. ❤️ Hope Jensen can come on the podcast soon.
The moral of this episode for me is greed. These stones are meant for Clark only and it shows people’s obsession and what that will eventually lead to. Destruction. Clark racing to the finish to unite the stones which will lead to the fortress for next season! I’ve seen it but it’s been awhile so I can’t wait! ❤️❤️
@@clairemendoza8082 Yes, that's all very good. Loved Clark and Lana's scenes in the plane flight over, theirscenes navigating China and again the big swordfight. Them just seeming to work well together. The Jason, Clark and Lex scene in the temple was great. Would be fun to have Jensen on the podcast. And yesthe stones were always meant for Kal-El/Clark. Such an epic moment when he finally unites them and creates the Fortress of Solitude.😀🙏🙏
@@nickhydier1201 Yes I agree! I just watched 4x17 "Onyx," so that one was amazing! :)
I loved the episode! Especially the Lana and Clark fighting scene!
Damn, I can't stop watching Smallville now hahaha
Another Wednesday another episode of Talkville! Let’s go!!
I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE EPISODE "LEXMAS"
Omg this is one of my favourite episodes! Watched it yesterday!
It's a great episode but Chloe's hair extensions always make me mad lol
Loved it ❤
@@EmilyKresl Hahaha facts 😂
New listener and HUGE smallville fan (have seen it like 10 times at least and im only 27 😂 got all 10 seasons on DVD lol) This is such a great podcast and I’m so glad seeing Michael and Tom be able to be authentic to themselves and not just “Clark and Lex”, while also remembering and embodying being those characters and what they remember from shooting the scenes, on top of them watching it for the first time/in a long time is just really cool.
You don’t see 10 seasons 40 min episodes 20+ episodes a season smallville was so ahead of its time yet I saw it when I was young just like they acted it when they were young and now I definitely have a little bit of a different perspective looking back on it like they do so I think this podcast is just really dope and you guys absolutely nailed it. Please keep it up. Can’t wait for the next six seasons.!!!
What kept fans watching during Season 4 were Chloe and Lois. Chloe had shifted from being an annoying third wheel to being a secret ally of Clark, which was amazing. And Lois in general was a breath of fresh air and a wonderful tone shift. All the bits with Lana felt tired and overdone, but it was something for the characters to do, so it wasn’t the end of the world.
Couldn’t agree with this statement more if I had written it myself…
You are absolutely 💯percent correct! Chloe was never annoying, it's just that Al and Miles couldn't figure out how to write her properly because she was the proto-Lois Lane, and they briefly considered having her become Lois. But you're correct, by seasons 4 and 5, Chloe and Lois had eclipsed Lana, who was no longer important to Clark's story once high school ended.
Speak for yourself. Chloe and Lois were so extremely annoying. I never cared for either of them. Chloe was a little more tolerable.
@@ahmedbana4450 Lana was annoying. She was the Mary Sue of Smallville. Chloe and Lois were real characters.
Really ? And what they did ? Even Michael said that if the beginning was the first episodes of S4, the show would have been cancelled 😅
My God ! That’s i keeping the fan watching is Clark, Lex and Lana. Chloé et Lois even weren’t in the main arcs 😅, they’re annoying at hell and a breath of toxic air. You should rewind back at that time, the audience was 5/5 when Clana was on screen.
I agree with Tom. As a 15 yr old when this episode aired back in 2005, my eyes were glued to the screen. I didn't notice when things weren't making any sense. Seeing Lana with purple eyes and "purple finger" overshadowed all of that. Haha It was mysterious and intriguing to see Lana being possessed and fighting Clark. It was just so awesome! What they did with the "map" was cool. Nice location, superb acting and fighting from all. This episode may not be everyone's favorite but you can't deny it's one of the most iconic/memorable. Especially Lana's Chinese robe, I cosplayed as that for FanX last year and all the Smallville fans knew it was Lana from Smallville. Did a group photo op and Kristin was impressed when she saw me. 😭
I like Sacred ❤ Smallville moves to China, it’s a quest for power, with some epic scenes ❤ And Michael always makes me see Smallville in a different light and i love it 😅 TalkVille is a playground for adults and so interesting and hilarious 👏👏👏💙❤💖 !!!
Happy birthday to our Tom 🎉🎉🎉wish you best
One of the best episode of season 4 imo. I'm with Tom I love this episode from start to finish! It felt like a movie, it was entertaining, it had gorgeous set locations and it moved the storyline forward. 🌹🌹🌹When I first watched this episode as a kid I really thought you guys were in China 😂
FINGER BLASTER IN YHE ROOM,LOVE YALL😂😂😂
Come on, Clark! You have x-ray vision... you could have figured out who had the stone!! Haha!! That fight scene was amazing! Great episode, guys....always the best part of my Wednesday! ❤❤❤❤
This was a fun episode, love the podcast! Thanks Michael, Tom and Ryan 😊
These talks are my favorite moments of any day! Found myself getting ready with food and beverage to watch Talk Ville like it was a big release movie in theaters. Loved it, as always!
Love this podcast and y’all. Y’all definitely make my Wednesday better. The Lana and Clark fight scene was awesome. The reason that fans watch the show is because y’all rock. Purple finger blast definitely needs to be on a shirt. No Lois in this episode. Shout out to the set designer of this episode. Lionel definitely played a pivotal part in this episode. What do you know that I don’t know should be on a shirt. Jason getting the key was a twist. I enjoyed Lana’s line about the only people she can trust is Lionel and Clark. Great shirtless scene. The ending scene was powerful.
That guy's question about the kryptonite has had me also reeling for years!!! 😂😂
2:46 Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! It isn't the Fortress yet 😉 That comes later..Love the Pod, all the best from 🇬🇧
Since y'all mentioned Kristin in Street Fighter, Byron Mann was also Ryu in the original Street Fighter movie from the 90s that had Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia.
I agree with Tom, this was a great, intriguing, and exciting episode! 🌹🌹
I really love this episode of Smallville, as a matter fact, it’s one of my favorite episodes of the first 4 seasons
I can't wait for the Smallville convention.
This episode was so fun, loved that Clark, Lana, Lex and Jason joined forces in this one!
"No" 😂😂😂😂
One of my favorite episodes of the season!
@rosey, I agree i couldnt like how the story line was going but as a fan i still was glued to it all.
One of them actually DID predict like 2 months ago that it was a tree not a map lol
Great episode and thank you so much guys for this new episode of Talk Ville. In two days it will be our beloved Tom's Birthday, we are all ready to wish him a Happy Birthday ❤❤❤
I have watched the Smallville series at least five times.
C Mustard?!
Kristen didn't do the Street Fighter movie til after she left Smallville
I loved this episode so much. To me it's one of my favorites from season 4. Love the crazy kung fu fight.
Best part of my week. Thank you. TGFTVW ❤️❤️🙏.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I like the idea of Isabelle as a character. It gives Lana a bit more to do other than simply being a damsel in distress. I just wish they'd done more with her. As that patron mentioned, it would've been cool to see Isabelle show up whenever Lana is in danger. Lana essentially having a guardian angel that isn't Clark could've been an interesting dynamic to explore.
Especially a guardian protecting her not for Lana's sake but because she needed Lana's body as a host. A villainous guardian, so to speak.
The show just couldn't resist its usual formula of making half the villains go after Lana even when Isobel wasn't scheduled to show up
I would love to see Jenson come on the podcast if he's available to do so before the season ends.
Brice laughing when they talk about the movie Street Fighter but the fight with the countess was epic.
"Don't you Tom Cruise run!"
to this day I still don't understand why there was kryptonite by the map. I like Tom's theory about earth being a place where Jor-El visited from time to time. He did visit at least once that we know of so I could see him visiting more. In season 9 there's even a flashback showing Jor-El getting ready to take the stones (and an orb that will be relevant later) to earth. So even though the stones have been on earth for hundreds, if not thousands of years, I speculate that time travel is possible on Krypton and Jor-El took the stones to the past to hide them better. I love the fight scene though. Best part of the episode.
Listened to the episode earlier and now going to go watch the video version ❤ Thank you guys for the laughs and fun episode as always ❤ Love this podcast so much!! Happy Talk Ville Wednesday ❤☄️🌽
Have you thought of asking Terence Stamp to come in as a guest on the podcast? He’d be fascinating to ask about smallville but also Superman, etc. And will Jensen Aclkes appear as a guest before the season ends? Keep up the great work !!
Love this podcast, and Ryan is a happy addition to the show.
It's like LIVE,LAUGH,LOVE,IT CHINESE,LOL, RYAN IS SO CRAZY 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Correction: Clark got purple hand blasted, not finger blasted.
Wish that they had smallville comic con coming closer to the Midwest states I live in Illinois and I know that it would a be a great first experience 😊 my family is all huge smallville fans been watching for years ❤
I cant wait to see you guys talk about episode 17, "Onyx" with the two Lex Luthor's.
Happy TalkVille Wednesday! Definitely the Highlight of my day today!
Kristin earned her pay on this one…this eppy ranks one of the best in the series because of the stunts alone...kudos to Kristin for working so hard. This is why the show is so
Memorable than even the movies. Tom Cruise should have gotten her in the Mission impossible franchise.
@@44excalibur Kristin’s Lana was supposed evolve beyond just being Clark’s girl friend.
She was very clear that as with Lex, she would be a individual that was independent and
on equal terms as part of the big 3. Kristins Lana actually is one of the best characters in the franchise.
In terms of her actually defining Lana as a strong character to be respected and reckoned with.
In the end she matched Clark’s powers and Lex’s intelligence. Lana was a very popular character that drew in millions…and inspired one of the most iconic soundtracks in TV history. The WB was wise to greenlight the pilot based on Kristins Lana…but Kristin said, the Love triangle stories just pitted fans against each other. If Kristin had her way, her Lana would have been more of a close friend he could confide in instead of a object of his fantasies…though she did have the looks for it.
@@44excaliburActually it’s reality…Lana was so popular that she set the tone for the show The DVD commentary goes on to say she was a big reason the whole show got picked up.The fan base of smallville confirmed Lana was so beloved that the most viewed episodes had Lana centric storylines..Linage where she found her biological father got 9 million views, Slumber where Lana and Clark had the main story drew in around 6 million.,which by then was the last time the series got
that number. Blaming Lana for season 6 is Laughable because she had less stories after she married Lex. In fact Chloe you failed to mention had more storylines that season. There was no problem with Lana evolving, in fact Smallvilles premise is totally non canon which made it better. Lana,Clark and Lex….as young friends is totally non canon.
@@44excalibur Nope....there are just as many sites that love the Smallville Lana on their polls. As for Al and Miles, they just echo what Kristin said, that Lana could have been more independent of Clark sooner and she said the Love triangles were used too much.
Both Tom and Michael agreed with her in the interview...As for Lana being on the show for 7 years...that's because she drew in millions of viewers from all over the world...because of Kristin..playing her. And the network agreed. These are the facts. Plus the producers who took over the show when Al and Miles left brought back Lana because she was so popular...they even gave her superpowers to boot,
to give her character closure...which was basically a gift to Lana fans and Kristin...
True Al and Miles only wrote the show to last only 5 years basing the show on his early years. And no the superboy comics never had Lex that young nor hanging out with Lana and Clark in high school. Not Lois coming and meeting Clark before the daily planet.... Or Lois finding out about Clarks powers before they work as reporters....if you want to talk about changing canon...you can start there..😂😂😂 Though I am Glad they got Erica on the show..her and Kristin really could have had many episodes together. Even today you can see these two interact very well on the convention tours. Over all fans are happy how the show did well.
@@44excalibur If read the rest of the article they only said they could have resolved the romantic aspect of Lana and Clarks relationship..and emphasized that Lana was to be a "stronger" character ..which by the 7th season they did.
@@44excalibur they made Lana a stronger character in the sense she didn't need Clarks powers to be safe.
Which was she at least was able to stand on her own. She also could not
be with Clark because of the Kryptonite contamination which resolved their romance situation.
It always seemed Lana thought Lois was a good match for Clark anyway when they first met. Now there are shippers that wanted Lana off the show the first season😂....that
was never going to happen😂😂😂
The funniest scene was Jason, in China, telling Lana he was in Metropolis and when a guy yells something in Chinese, Jason covers the phone. Are foreign languages not allowed in Metropolis? does it not have a Chinatown? lol
I’m laughing throughout this episode 😂 I love Talkville and this Smallville episode slaps and fun 🔥Love all the action scenes too. it’s not that serious you guys , CHILLAX 😂 Love ya Tom, Rosey & Ryan 🤟
Oh, and I thought the idea for a "finger blast" T-shirt in honor of this episode was hilarious! 🤣 Seriously, having some humorous Smallville merch is not a bad idea. I absolutely adore this show and love the characters and actors who portrayed them, but I would buy something funny in a heartbeat. There are even some Snallville memes that crack me up. 💛
Ah the fight scene with the Sai's with the music playing in the background so good. Also Kristin goes on to play Chun Li in Street Fight the legend of Chun Li. Also the return of Byron Mann is now playing a different role who double crosses Lex Luthor. Also Clark Kent revealing Magic can hurt him. I think behind the scenes they were pushing Genevieve Teague to be the big bad even though Margot Kidder's was supposed to be but due to Chris Reeves death it got scrapped. I think Margot didn't want to continue due to his death.
Easily one of the best set sceneries in this episode. It was great to see Christopher Reeve one last time.
When are these guys going to do a Smallville drinking game?? 😂
33:03 Tom completely misunderstood the question. The question was why was there Kryptonite in a shrine that was hundreds of years old when Krypton only blew up ~20 years ago. Kryptonite is what is left of Krypton. So how did the kryptonite get there because when the shrine was built, krypton hadn't exploded yet?
One of my favorite episodes of the season, it’s so out of pocket and unusual for the series but I just have an irrational love for this ep haha
I liked the "Stones of Power" storyline, because I KNEW, it was leading to the creation of the "real" Fortress of Solitude.
Especially when Jor-El said that the stones hold all the accumulated knowledge of Krypton.
That was the cincher, that the Stones would create the Fortress in the season ender.
What surprised me when I first watched it is that I didn’t know it would create fortress. I thought it was just an important crystal from the Fortress. Or how to get in the fortress. So I was so amazed how they did it! I always tell everyone that this was my favorite season. There’s still so many good episodes to come.
Lmao I'm glad yall threw that in at the end for the guest fan saying it!
Smallville doesn’t exist within its own universe. It’s in a defined existence within the greater DC comics multiverse. There are aliens, inter-dimensional beings, magic users, monsters, and even tweens using grapple hooks and batarangs (not on this earth, but you know what I mean).
Clark and Smallville aren’t confined to the high school and “freak of the week” anymore. As such, we get these unrealistic stories because it exists in an unrealistic world.
Remember Rosey: “Suspend disbelief”. You can’t watch this show in relation to something more grounded in our reality.
Rosie always playin it safe with the favorite scene haha
Ah the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Smallville Episode. I thought it was a decent episode. Really thought they did a good job with the fight choreography. It may not have been the strongest episode, but you can tell EVERY CENT they had went into the production with no room for error.
Great episode you guys. #AlwaysHoldOnToSmallville
I Really loved this one, Clark Lana Lex and Jason go to China more info on The Stone's of Power ;) Someday soon we know what that leads to (S) The return of Isabel ⚡ And how she tries to get The Stone, Clark and Isabel fight ❤️💙 Vs💜⚡ And Yes! I really enjoyed watching Kristin fight as her Isabel in this as Tom said she makes it look Amazing ⚔️☯️ As a Martial Artist for 32 years Kristin and her Stunt double nailed the look of Chinese Chung Fa👏 And Until my Rewatch I Forgot how the ending Tie in to The late Christopher Reeves 🕯️❤️💙🙏🕯️ and We get Dr Swann last gift for Clark 🙏 Really Enjoying watching The Patreon perk seeing another Awesome Member on 💯, Always enjoy hearing the story's of behind the scenes 😂 We need another TalkVille Handblast shirt! Thanks as always Guy's! ❤️💙🌹🌹(S)🤘
Yeah i enjoyed this episode as it was bringing the back story to the front as the main story & started to reveal what it was all about & the importance of the stones, it all started to come together.
lol how is it still "amazing" to Michael that the fans won't abandon the show if it gets weird/crazy w the plot line? 😂 I wish he could be in my cinephile club! 😂
For me, Smallville was one of the few things I've ever watched where I managed to make sense most of the time! If he doesn't find meaning in Smallville, imagine the rest of the audiovisual productions!
@gigigmd he's so funny! but if he thinks he's gonna find an audience member who will say the show is stupid, he's barking up the wrong tree cuz we are all proud super-fans! lol
@@asyouwish3636 I love Smallville! I like Michael's style too, he's funny!
@@asyouwish3636 Exactly 😂I was here for all the crazy/weird Smallville sheningans when I first watched the show and still I am today. Also sometimes I think he's being slow on purpose just so he can complain lol because the show storylines ain't that hard to comprehend.
@vbrandy7088 lol good point. although to be fair, I will say that for my 1st watch, it was kinda confusing about the Kryptonian stuff and Lana's ancestry cuz they sprinkled in so many side and sub plots in-between the main story. lol even as a binge, I swear it took til my 2nd watch to fully get what was going on! (not to mention they had a bunch of fake-outs not just the map is a picture, but stuff like the stones will save or destroy the world type stuff - which wasn't technically true)... and while I didn't mind the main story at all, I do concede the execution could have been better. look how great Charmed was doing at this point, by 2004-5 they were well established and had done was great job w very similar elements.
but I get why this is his least favorite season of the 4 Michael has seen so far. I kinda feel like he's really gonna like S5 for its own merits (and of course S6 for the obvious, most eps are Lex-heavy! lol) but other than that stupid vampire ep, S5 is pretty tight. looking forward to that coming up later this year!
I agree with Michael - the stones + Isabelle storyline was the time to fast-forward for me on the rewatch. I couldn't wait for more Lois!
Thanks for doing this pod and keeping us connected. You guys do such a great job. This show was so special, and it’s a blast to see you guys revisit all of this with enthusiasm, humor, and joy. I hope you know how cool it is for us to see you gentlemen together, retracing your steps, and being able to enjoy what is an enduring legacy.
The map was like that picture of a lady that when looked at again is actually a rabbit. Like an optical illusion.
Some interesting aspects to this episode and a lot of jovial discussions between Michael, Tom and Ryan. Thanks for another entertaining week🤩
I haven’t caught up to this episode yet in the podcast but just wanted to comment and wish Tom Welling a Happy Birthday. Thanks for Smallville and Talkville. Ironic that the episode posted the week of Tom’s birthday is titled “Sacred” because that’s what Smallville and Tom are… and Michael too of course.
I gave this episode 1 1/2 to 2 Roses. And My favorite scene was the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon scene. That takes a lot of Choreography for a fight scene to look that good. Keep going, and great job. EVERYONE.
Yes! Michael, yes! This is the season that broke my heart. I couldn’t believe it. Feeling myself detach from the show was not easy as an emotional teenager who deeply connected with the first 3 seasons.
I missed the season 1 authenticity from you guys, the funny jabs😅, the freak of the week pros/cons etc…now it’s straight to business with little explanation.
they have just found a format that works. I think they are still authentic though
@@leet7489 go back and listen to season 1. They took their time and break down scenes from two different perspectives like the camera shots, the pros and cons of the freaks of the weak. Now it’s suspense of disbelief and they move on to the next. It’s all good with the format
@@leet7489 since it’s shorter, the ads are more emphasised
@@nawbudd6975 I completely agree, I wish they would dig dipper into the episodes. Instead of putting the emphasis on the recap the focus should be on breaking down scenes, how they shot it, pros and cons, analyse the characters etc.
@@vbrandy7088 agreed
One of my favorite episodes. Kristin and Tom's fighting scene were awesome! I miss their chemistry at this point of season 4. I'm surprised nobody mentions isobel's beautiful robe she found in the prison cell >.
I'll never understand the Clana fans. Everyone on the planet Earth knew from day 1 that Clark and Lana would not end up together, that Clark was destined for Lois, yet you guys dug in like you thought they were Buffy and Angel.
S6 - Lois Lane: "Lana is your past. I'm your future." Clark Kent: "This is the present."
@@thesweetharmonyxyxx And the present should have been Chloe. 😜
Michael says that Ryan's F bomb needs to be bleeped out, 2 seconds later he throws a Shit out there! Love it!
❤Tom you are the best super man ever see at small ville
🌹🌹 Best scene was the message at the end with the voice of "God" such a fun episode like a mini movie it had beautiful sets good action and interesting plots sure gas some pot holes but what doesn't
7:13 No matter how many times Tom drops his face into his hand with a laugh from the shit Rosenbaum says, I never get tired of seeing it 😂
We need a Smallville event for all your UK fans 😢❤️ make it happen!!!
