I have recently read that the temps can be a factor on whether or not the sensitive laminae feels the heat. Red hot what I read is too hot and that you can get nice burn from a less hot shoe. I don’t personally know shit, just what I read while trying to become a farrier. Loving your videos by the way!!!!
Thanks. Super red isn’t always the best. We did it for video purposes. It’s actually more about the amount of time it’s on the foot rather than the temp in most cases
@@a5ranch594you are saying red hot isnt best, but you did it anyway for producing the video you wanted. Ummm, you couldnt use a fake horse leg to make your point? All you are doing is charring a horseshoe print onto the horses hoof. It doesnt mean you made a perfect fit though. Youd get a proper seal and fit using clean filings straight across both outside edges of the hoof, nailing shoe on and rounding the metal so its smooth next to the hoof edge. One week after charring or melting the keratin the hoof is made of and the only thing you end up with is dead material that can be picked away and blown off just like the remaining char on a fire log.
@@GretchenDupree I agree with you, I cold and hot shoe but I'd PERSONALLY try to keep horses out of shoe's. I find that a lot of hot shoeing farriers tend to make clients go into shoeing THEY DON'T NEED!!! Its all about a dollar $$$$$$$ vs whats right for the horse.
What if the shoe doesn’t fit right the first time you burn it on? Does the shoe have to fit perfect with all final tweaks done before burning it on? Is burning it on the final step before nailing it on after all adjustments have been made? Can you still make adjustments after burning it on the first time and then go back and burn it on again as many times as needed until you get the right fit?
No it dosent hurt the horse Pure nearly sets the horse on fire 😂😂 Yes I know it dosent hurt I just got my loan horses shoe off and it’s really cool too watch
Holy hell.. At KHS we would've been toasted by our lecturers and farriers for burning on a red hot shoe! You still get a great burn and fit at grey heat. I'm not impressed
I've never done any hot shoeing or even forged my own shoes. Farrier work aint easy at all its a back breaking job. I always buy pre forged shoes might have to give them alittle bend to fit the hooves right.
I don't want to burn the end of my fingernail. . . extremely close to my finger, like if my fingernail flames up like that horse hoof did, my whole damn finger is gunna catch on fire.
Ummm i think that could hurt the horse sometimes. Maybe not all the time but that was red hot, even if you had a thick thumbnail if you put something hot on it you might not feel it at first but youre gonna feel it eventually. That just seems way to hot if its bursting into flames.
If you’ve ever interacted with a horse you’d know that if it’s uncomfortable or in pain it WILL make you well aware. If that horse was in pain, that dude would be knocked over in 2 seconds. The hoof has no nerves.
The horse is in no pain at all. Maybe you should get educated or at least search it up before you comment. I’m around horses every day and I know much about them.
That is so fucked up. Horses in the wild domt have these things. Why do we do this to captove horses? We have wild horses all over the beach were I live.

No because same😂
I mean hey, lucky horse shoe!
That horse is super docile
Most of them couldn't care less during hot shoeing. It's kind of surprising. But it just goes to show that it really doesn't hurt them
As a newgen blacksmith i could watch old blacksmiths do this is all day. Its so cool!!
It’s so cool huh
I like the "thanks for watching" at the end of your videos 😀

Me too, very classy
I thought the horse shoe was a hotdog 💀😭
I got so scared when it got in flames💀

you just have tk remember that it doesnt hurt the horse at all but i did too its kind of scarh when that stuff happens
Pretty interesting job. Lol. I’m glad you showed us city slickers that because we all thought it would hurt the horse. Thank you, awesome video!

Thanks for answering a question I’ve had for a while!
My anxiety when the horse's foot caught the flame: 📈📈📈📈
Damn look at the house back there! what a beautiful property 👍🏾
Definitely a nice place
Don't mind me just here for the comments from people that don't realize that if it hurt the horse you'd know, very quickly.
Same
Very informative. Do the flames spook the horse ever?
I'm grateful that you taught me that it doesn't hurt.
Thank you! This was exactly what I was wondering about hot shoeing!
You’re welcome
The flames 🔥
Bro just read my mind😂
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent. That’s super cool

What makes it stock? It’s amazing
HIS FOOT WAS ON 🔥. He didn’t feel it!! I sure felt it for him
Right lol
Do you have to make a new one every time you take it off to clean?
Depends on how badly worn they are but usually yes
Bro got customized shoes 😂😂😂
Blokes a proper craftsman 👍
thank you for this, i can use this as research
Wow that really scared me at first because I thought the horse was gonna catch on 🔥
so it doesn’t hurt because there’s no pain receptors on the glove?
You are great for explaining this. Many of us don’t know WHY you burn it on. It’s to find the pressure points. Thanks!
Yes. And to form a perfect union between the shoe and the hoof
No one else’s burst into flames on yt😂
Lol. That shoe was a little extra hot for video purposes and the wind was blowing but good catch
I got scared but I understood
I thought the horse was about to get set up on flames
Woah
I can smell this video. 😅
me thinking at the first it is the hourse hurt😂
I level my foot with the RASP !! I have perfectly unionized feet as well.
It depends what the horse does, if you have a horse for sport, they need a horseshoe.
My jaw droped
He is clam
I know it doesn’t hurt at all BUT THE FLAMES LOOKED LIKE IT WAS PAINFULL
I feared for the horse so much 😢
Because you are ignorant, common reaction from people that just react in without understand anything.

Yes. You can make small adjustments after burning if necessary but it’s not ideal
I would never.
What’s the name of the burner? I’m purchasing my tool set and I want the burner as well.

Why do the horses not react to the smoke or flames?
Because it doesn’t hurt them also they can’t really see it I think because they aren’t facing that way

The Romans
If he Didn't blow out the fire. It would go up the hoof and Actually burn the horse

Why do they even put shoes on horses
Because it protects their hooves. Which is very important if they're being ridden on different surfaces.
