- This is the very first time welding a body patch or panel, as you can tell. Starting in an area that won’t be visible works for me so I can get more experience. Hope this helps.

Your doing a great job. I am so looking forward to the rest of this build. Soon will be starting on my rear frame rails on my 67 bird.
Thank you. I’m working my way up to the frame rails, they intimidate me a little right now. We’re getting there though. Good luck on yours and keep me posted on your progress. Thanks for watching 👍
I was in the exact same position as you a few years ago. Rusty car and no welding experience. You're doing it right by learning on the areas that won't be seen. In another couple thousand welds, you'll be amazed at the difference. The REALLY difficult part is that once you get good at welding, you're going to want to go back an re-do all of the "learning" areas (at least that's what I feel when I look at my car).
😂 that’s probably right, I am never satisfied with things that aren’t right. A little OCD that way. Thanks for the comment 👍
I have not welded in over 40 years so this is interesting to see your tests. I plan to work on my floors first or the cowl box. This helps.
Yep, never mig welded before. Practicing helps me a lot, also right before I do it on the car. Sounds like we are in the same boat. Start where no one can see a little mess up 😉. Thanks for watching and good luck with your project. Glad to help.👍
You are doing a fantastic job brother remember we all started somewhere
You mean you weren’t a pro at the start 😂. It takes me awhile, but that’s okay. I’m having fun the hole time. Thank you for the encouragement.👍
@JK_Nex_Garage No way brother in the beginning I was really bad I started with a $90 dollars Harbor Freight flux core wire welder I still have today and let me tell you it was hard for me but I didn't give up and it made me a pretty good welder now and when I use a gas welder it's so easy for me I can close my eyes and do it keep being a positive person and believe me you will be building these cars faster than me
@@firstgenerationgarage2803 faster than you? No way. But getting better. I’ll call this the Practice Bird for when I do another one. Hopefully. If you would stop buying them all up😂.
@@JK_Nex_Garage lol 😆 😂 🤣 I have a 68 for sale
Great Job! Keep up the great Job you're doing, I'm doing some of the same type work! Appreciate you and your time!
Thank you, we appreciate you watching. It takes me a little bit to do the editing, but I’m getting a little better each time and it’s fun. Hope your project is coming along nicely.👍
Doing great, keep it up! For those gaps and holes that are a bit big get you some of the welding copper backing spoons and tools, they help a lot. The weld doesn't stick to the copper and lets you keep the weld where you want it.
Thank you for the comment, I will try that next time. It’s these little things that will help keep us going forward with this project. Appreciate it. Thank you for watching.👍
Fine tuning the technique is a great plan.
Thanks. You make it look easy, but I’m getting better with every weld. Kind of. Thanks for watching.
@@JK_Nex_Garage practice makes perfect.
Fine job 👍
Thank you. You guys make it look easy. Getting better though, I think. Thank you for the comment. It helps a lot.👍
Very productive practice!!
Thank you. I’m trying and getting a little better with every weld. Thank you for the comment.
Copper backing helps, try All-Metal instead along with a 2 part sealant.
Nice progress!
Thank you. Appreciate you watching.👍
I don't think I would bother with fiber filler in there.
