Ok definitely coming in here with a controversial take because I know this is a fandom that likes to believe she can do no wrong, but I def disagree with the Wildest Dreams one. That music video is set in Africa and is completely devoid of black people and it’s giving “colonialism”. She was heavily criticized for this and never addressed the criticisms. This is a big reason I find her so difficult to support. She has a racial blindspot/racial insensitivity that she cannot bring herself to address, but snaps at the faintest whisper of someone saying she doesn’t write her own songs or dates too many guys. The racist abuse Antonia Gentry (who plays Ginny in Ginny and Georgia) received as a result of Taylor’s tweet was the icing on the cake. Taylor said nothing. I get being a fan too because she can write some great and fun music, but I don’t believe she’s a particularly good person.
