Hi omg of course!!💖💖 I went to my GP and she has a psychiatrist in her practice/office so she sent me right to him. Some GPs don’t have that in office so they’ll send you elsewhere. The thing is, to see someone free outside of the office there can be years of wait time which sucks! Alternatively, you can go private and see a psychiatrist with a shorter wait time but it does get expensive. (Im in Canada btw so I’m going off that healthcare system, not sure where you’re based). I’m just super lucky that my GP has one in house bc she prioritizes mental health, but a lot of doctors don’t care about that which sucks 😢 Also, if you do get the choice, try to go to someone more fresh out of University bc they’re more likely to be up to date on autism in women and AFAB folks. And remember, you know yourself best, so if a psychiatrist tells you you’re not autistic bc you can make eye contact or some bs like that 🙄 advocate for yourself and educate them, and don’t be afraid to search for a diagnosis elsewhere. And don’t let anyone make you feel silly for looking for a diagnosis, there are a lot of accommodations you can get with a diagnosis that are very helpful and needed. I hope his helps! ❤️❤️❤️
