Dr. Moerman, this is a wonderful explanation of the pragmatic paradigm. Your statement that pragmatism is a fallibilistic view of science really helped me in solidifying my understanding of pragmatism. "Knowledge is only useful if it is practical" is an easy way to remember what is valued within pragmatism and how it relates to research and evaluation of the world around us. This video leaves me wondering the applications of pragmatism into not only research and evaluation but into everyday life and studies. Thank you, Sarah.

Not to overemphasize, but 2:09 "Practical!"
However, does pragmatism turn to complete relativism - everyone with their own interpretation of "reality?"
    Self-serving models of reality?

@@finchbevdale2069 Show me the proof. Just show me the proof. You went right to appeal to emotions on that one, so I distrust you inherently, immediately.

I think in your explanation forgot that in pragmatism logic and evidence is important when you contrast ideas or theories. So your elephant example is not applicable and terrible to illustrate.

There is a substantial misunderstading of Pragmatism here. Please take this down.

@@CarlKho Pragmatism in philosophy is a distinct theory of ideas and epistemology. It concerns not merely “looking at what is practical,” but demanding that ideas themselves have no content other than their practical consequences. This is a much stronger claim than “practical consequences are good.” The claim is “nothing other than practical consequences exist.”
